Salutations, diary!
My name is Penny Polendina! I am the first ever synthetic being capable of generating an Aura. It is very nice to meet you!
My priority is to serve and protect the people of Remnant from the creatures of Grimm. To do so, I have been outfitted with state-of-the-art weapons technology by the Kingdom of Atlas in order to fulfill my mission. I am quite eager to begin my mission!
Today, General Ironwood – a very important man who oversees both Atlas' military and its Huntsman academy – recommended I keep a digital log of all my diagnostics to ensure I am functioning at optimal capacity. He also suggested that I practice recording all significant information that I observe in my daily routine. I suppose this is my first mission as a Huntress!
When I informed my father, Pietro, of the general's orders, he expressed amusement and said it was like I was keeping a diary. I did not know what a "diary" was, so I quickly performed research on what a "diary" is. It turns out, a "diary" is typically a special logbook that real people of my designated age group usually keep as a means of recording important information or to "express themselves". When I shared this discovery with Father, he smiled and nodded, adding that a diary is much like a close friend or confidant with whom I can share my thoughts.
I do not know what it is like to have a friend, so I am glad that I have you, diary! May this be the beginning of a great friendship!

Today, General Ironwood shared with me exciting news. He told me that he is sending me to the Kingdom of Vale to participate in the Vytal Festival! Isn't that just sensational?!
According to the general, while my combat performance within battle simulations and in dispatching low-level Grimm threats have been exemplary, he has decided it is time for me to test my skills against real Huntsman and Huntresses. The Vytal Festival tournament will offer the ideal environment to hone my combat skills. How exciting!
Before my deployment, General Ironwood was very clear that I should make all efforts to keep my true identity a secret from everyone. He also said that I recommended that I should be accompanied by an Atlas military escort at all times. Father did not seem too pleased with that, however. My sensors also identified that Father appeared uneasy about sending me to Vale so soon.
I assured Father that I would be alright and that I was combat ready to handle any situation. That seemed to comfort him, because he smiled and gave me what is called a hug, telling me to be safe and that he loves me.
Both Father and General Ironwood are counting on me, diary. I will not let them down!

Guess what? Today, I made a friend! A FRIEND!
While I was performing a routine patrol of the streets of Vale in order to formulate a map of the area for my database, I ran into a team of Huntresses from Vale's Beacon Academy. Specifically, I ran into that team's leader, Ruby Rose. After introducing myself as Father taught me, we began to part ways. However, before she departed, Ruby called me her friend!
Can you believe it, diary? She called me friend!
It was absolutely sensational! My first friend! I cannot wait for us to engage in typical friendship activities, such as painting nails, trying on clothes, and talk about cute boys, just like I discovered in my research of normal female friendship activities! Father will be so proud once I inform him!
Oh, but I must be sure to adhere to General Ironwood's orders as well and remain focused on my mission. However, I do not believe this will pose a problem. After all, Ruby seems like a nice person. I am certain we will get along well together!

Today, I ran into Ruby and her team once again! Although, it seems like I have found them in a troubling time.
According to Ruby, one of her friends and teammates, Blake, had run away without informing her friends of her whereabouts. So, Ruby and her friends had decided to search throughout Vale for her, and as Ruby's friend, I decided to aid her in her search!
Apparently, Blake had gotten into an argument with another of Ruby's friends, Weiss, who is the daughter of Mister Jacques Schnee in Atlas. That argument is what caused Blake to run away from her team and the reason she has been missing for an entire weekend. When I asked Ruby why Blake chose to do this, Ruby could not provide an answer, saying that Blake did not even attempt to explain herself before leaving.
I do not understand. If I had friends like Ruby has, I would want them to talk to me about things. Just like I do with you, diary. I told Ruby this and she appeared to agree with me. I hope we can find her friend soon so we can all have a nice talk!

There is a lot to report, and it hasn't even been long since we have last spoke!
The good news is, we found Ruby's friend! She was located at one of Vale's loading docks. However, when we arrived, we discovered that the White Fang were engaged in combat with Blake and another Faunus boy. When we arrived, a man in a bowler hat – who I have now identified as the wanted criminal Roman Torchwick – attacked Ruby!
I did not like seeing my new friend hurt.
After confirming that Ruby was not seriously injured, I enacted combat protocols and engaged the White Fang. My training in Atlas proved beneficial, as I was able to efficiently neutralize most of the White Fang's operatives without causing any fatalities. I was even able to bring down three of their airships! Father would be so proud of me!
However, it appears the general and my supervisors do not agree. After the battle concluded, I was escorted back to our temporary residence here in Vale. I was reprimanded for wandering off and recklessly exhibiting my combat protocols in public. Now, I am prohibited from performing reconnaissance on my own without escort or approval from the general.
I…have not informed anyone of meeting Ruby or how we are now friends. I do not believe General Ironwood would approve. So, for now, I will confide only with you, diary. It will…be our secret!
I do hope I get to see Ruby again soon.
Author's Note: Salutations, everyone! Here I am with another random idea that popped into my head. As you can see, this story will consist of a collection of short entries regarding the general plot of RWBY from Penny's perspective, based on the scenes she was involved in. I hope you all enjoy this new story debut, and I apologize in advance for all of the old wounds that will no doubt be reopened!
