"And every storm, this roof leaks, no matter how many fronds I add." said Chief Eeth.

"Fixed!" Ahsoka said from above. "Not the fronds."

She athletically came down.

"Wind shifted the post." Ahsoka said, grabbing a piece of mango from a bowl. "That is good mango."

"Delicioso!" Fiesta said, licking up some mango juice from a mango she'd been munching.

Fiesta accompanied Ahsoka as she performed various duties along the village today.

Helping one villager stay calm as he was getting a tattoo, teaching a hula class to some of the children, and seeing that food was being prepared properly.

But later that day, people were concerned.

"It's the harvest," said a woman. "This morning, I was husking the coconuts and..."

She pulled the coconut apart, and the inside was all black, no water inside. Not one drop. The same went for at least two entire baskets full of coconuts.

Fiesta sniffed some of the coconuts. They definitely had no water. And when she licked the inside of one.

"Bleh!" Fiesta spat and tried to scrape the taste from her tongue with her hoof. "Tastes like coal flavored paste!"

"Well..." Ahsoka thought. "We should clear the diseased trees and we will start a new grove..."

The Togruta looked around and saw an empty patch of land and motioned with her eyes for Fiesta to check it out.

Over the years, the Togruta princess discovered that equines were also skilled at discovering rich soil for plants.

Fiesta sniffed the ground around the empty lot, dug into it with her hoof and tasted some of the grass. To her, it tasted fresh and crisp with just the right amount of moisture. Perfect.

"There." Ahsoka confirmed.

"Thank you, Ahsoka." said the woman. She commented to her parents, "She's doing great."

"This suits you." said Plo.

"Myra, get down from there right now!" Mace yelled at his daughter who climbed up a tree.

"But this is where the best fruits grow, Dad." Myra called from up the tree.

If there was one thing Myra was good at, it was climbing into high places and somehow managing never to get hurt.

"Myra, if you don't get down right now, so help me-"

Mace dodged a coconut that nearly hit him as Myra was tossing some into a basket down below.

"No matter how much time passes on this island," said Shaak. "Parenthood will always be a challenge."

"Chief Plo!" said a familiar voice.

Plo and his family looked to see Chief Kit Fisto arriving with his son.

"There is something you must see." said Zatt.

The father and son brought Ahsoka's family to the beach and showed them an empty fish trap.

"Our traps in the east lagoon..." said Kit. "They're pulling less and less fish."

"Then we'll rotate the fishing grounds." said Ahsoka.

"We already tried that." said Zatt. "Not a fish in sight. Dad and I both checked. Nada."

"Okay," said Ahsoka, stroking her chin in thought. "Then we'll fish the far side of the island."

"We already tried that too." Kit said.

"The windward side of the island then."

"Tried it." Zatt said. "And the leeward side, the shallows, the channel. We've tried the whole lagoon."

"They're just gone." said Aayla.

"Have you tried a different bait?" asked Shaak.

"We don't think it's the bait."

As the grownups were talking, Ahsoka looked at all the other fishermen. Just like the Fistos, every single trap was empty. Not even a teensy minnow was in the net.

Zatt came by Ahsoka's side. They looked at each other with the same thoughts.

Ahsoka stood on one of the boats and looked out to the lagoon as Myra came by. And when Ahsoka filled her in on what was happening, all three kids had the same idea. Ahsoka got a rope, and Zatt tied it around his waist.

"We shall hold a Meeting of the Chiefs." said Plo. "I'm sure we-"

"What if we fish beyond the reef?" Ahsoka said.

The grownups all looked at Ahsoka and Myra as they stood on the boat.

"No one goes beyond the reef," said Plo.

"I know. But if there are no fish in the lagoon,"

"Ahsoka..."

"And there's a whole ocean-"

"We have one rule."

"An old rule, when there were fish."

"A rule that keeps us safe."

"But, Dad, I-"

"Instead of endangering our people so you can run right back to the water."

And that was when Myra pulled on the rope and brought Zatt out from the water.

"Ahsoka was right!" Zatt said, trying to keep his grip on a fish. "There are more fish beyond the reef!"

"You went beyond the reef?!" Aayla said. "Zatt Horatio Fisto!"

"Dear, hold on." Kit said, grabbing the fish. "Princess Ahsoka was right. Perhaps we should go beyond the reef."

"She just endangered your son." said Mace. "And apparently is being a bad influence on my daughter."

"We chose Zatt to do it because he can literally breathe underwater!" Myra defended.

Mace took his daughter away and told her he didn't want her spending time with Ahsoka.

"I suspect she learned this behavior from her betrothed as well."

That's right, even Ahsoka and her friends were betrothed as their parents were before them.

Ahsoka sat on a rock, throwing little bits of wood angrily at the sand, when her mother came by.

"I didn't say go beyond the reef because I want to be on the ocean." said Ahsoka.

"But you still do." said Shaak.

Ahsoka sighed.

"He's hard on you because-"

"Because he doesn't get me." Ahsoka interrupted.

"Because he met two who were you."

Ahsoka looked at her mother in confusion, and Shaak told her a story about Chief Qui-Gon's sons.

A long time ago, Chief Qui-Gon had twin sons, each of whom was betrothed to one of the daughters of the other chiefs. One was betrothed to Ahsoka and the other to Myra. However, on the night before what would've been the twins' official betrothal ceremony, they took a canoe and found an unforgiving sea. Waves like mountains.

Those who could breathe beneath the waters searched for them, but never found them.

"Qui-Gon never saw his children again." said Shaak. "He's hoping he can save you from the same fate."

Ahsoka looked down, unable to imagine how devastated Qui-Gon was to lose his children the way he did.

"Sometimes..." Shaak sighed. "Who we wish we were, what we wish we could do... it's just not meant to be."

Ahsoka looked at her mother with sadness and shock in her eyes.

Shaak left to let her daughter be alone to think to herself.

Ahsoka stared out at the ocean and thought. She was sad that two had lost their lives to the waters, but somehow, that didn't stop her from feeling drawn to the beautiful waves of the ocean.

Ahsoka:

I've been staring at the edge of the water
'Long as I can remember
Never really knowing why

Ahsoka looked and saw the village in the distance.

I wish I could be the perfect daughter
But I come back to the water
No matter how hard I try

Ahsoka started to take a walk, when she came across Fiesta, who followed her, and then Young Zatt and Myra, who managed to slip away from their parents to be with their friend.

Every turn I take
Every trail I track
Every path I make
Every road leads back
To the place I know where I cannot go
Where I long to be

Ahsoka came back to the boats, but this time with her friends. She looked at them and pointed out towards the sea.

See the line where the sky meets the sea?
It calls me
And no one knows
How far it goes
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me
One day I'll know
If I go, there's just no telling how far I'll go

Ahsoka and her friends walked across the village, seeing everyone seeming perfectly happy where they were, but the group of friends just didn't feel that they could just stand around and stay in the same place for the rest of their lives.

I know everybody on this island
Seems so happy on this island
Everything is by design
I know everybody on this island
Has a role on this island
So maybe I can roll with mine

I can lead with pride
I can make us strong
I'll be satisfied if I play along
But the voice inside sings a different song
What is wrong with me?

The three kids stood atop the mountain with the stones of the chiefs, where they got an even higher and more astounding view of the water.

See the light as it shines on the sea?
It's blinding
But no one knows
How deep it goes

And it seems like it's calling out to me
So come find me
And let me know
What's beyond that line?
Will I cross that line?

Ahsoka ran right back to the boat and got ready to go, and her friends got on with her.

Myra:

And the line where the sky meets the sea
It calls me

Ahsoka, Myra, and Zatt:

And no one knows
How far it goes

Ahsoka:

If the wind in our sail on the sea stays behind me

All:

One day We'll know
How far We'll go

And so, the three kids got on board the boat, while Fiesta flew above.

"Okay," said Ahsoka. "We can do this. There's more fish beyond the reef."

"Let's do this!" Myra said, punching the air.

Ahsoka steered the boat ahead, Zatt sitting at the front, and Myra kept an oar.

However, as they got closer to sailing beyond the reef, a wave hit them and knocked Zatt into the water.

"Zatt!" Ahsoka exclaimed.

"I'm fine!" Zatt said, getting his head above the water.

But the waves only got bigger and harder, knocking the girls into the water too. Luckily for them, Fiesta swooped down the first chance she got when they were above the water, and she carried them back to the shore, while Zatt swam himself back. But, she couldn't avoid getting wet.

Fiesta shook herself dry.

"Whatever just happened," said Qui-Gon. "Blame it on the horse."

"Hey!" Fiesta said.

"Are you... gonna tell our parents?" Ahsoka asked worriedly.

"I'm an elder chief." said Qui-Gon. "I don't have to tell the others everything."

Ahsoka looked out at the water again.

"Dad was right. About going out there." Ahsoka then looked at the mountain. "It's time to put my stone on the mountain."

Qui-Gon looked at the kids. The two younger ones thought Ahsoka was crazy.

He said, "Okay. Go ahead. Put that stone up there."

That was when some friendly dolphins happened to swim by.

"Why aren't you trying to talk her out of it?" Myra asked.

"She said it's what she wants." Qui-Gon answered, dancing in the water as the dolphins swam and did tricks.

Ahsoka was about to walk away, but then Qui-Gon spoke again.

"When I did, I'm going to come back as one of these. Or I chose the wrong tattoo."

"Why are you acting weird?" Ahsoka asked, coming back.

"I'm the village crazy chief." Qui-Gon chuckled. "That's my job."

"If there's something you're trying to tell us, just tell us!" Ahsoka said.

"Is there something you want to tell us?" Zatt asked.

"Is there something you all want to hear?" Qui-Gon said, looking at the kids.

The kids' curiosity grew even more.

Qui-Gon led the three kids to a cavern they had never seen before.

"You have been told all of our people's stories but one." Qui-Gon explained.

The kids looked around, the oldest one holding a torch for light.

"What is this place?" Ahsoka asked.

"Do you really believe our ancestors stayed within the reef?" Qui-Gon said. "Or that Fiesta did so? Why else would she be the only equine on the island?"

Qui-Gon then pulled a group of vines from a wall of stacked rocks.

Fiesta kicked the rocks down with her strong legs, and Ahsoka moved a few out of the way by hand, a breeze blowing into their faces.

"What's in there?" Ahsoka asked.

"The answer to the question you keep asking yourself." Qui-Gon said. "Who are you meant to be?"

Ahsoka looked at the opening and then at Qui-Gon.

"Go inside... bang the drum... and find out."
