It was another day at the palace. A sunny Saturday morning. A perfect day to ride the horses in the corral.
"Yeehaw!" Wrecker exclaimed as he rode Pinto around.
Gabby, meanwhile, sat on the fence, reading a script.
"What'cha got there, Gabby?" Banjo asked.
"My script." Gabby said. "We're putting on a series of fairytale plays at school. My class is doing Snow White. And I'm the star."
"You got the part of Snow White?" said Echo. "That's fantastic."
"If you're into that kind of role." Gabby shrugged.
"I thought you liked the story of Snow White." Echo said. "You made me read it to you once while your dad was busy, remember?"
"When I was three." Gabby said. "Now that I'm bigger, I see a lot of stuff wrong. Like, how does Snow White not know not to take treats from strangers?"
"Ya talkin' 'bout the poison apple?" Maybelle said, trotting over with Crosshair on her back. "I never understood that either. And that's comin' from someone who eats practically nothin' but apples."
"If I were Snow White. I would've been smarter than that." Gabby said. "When my Mommy was queen of Naboo, she wasn't tricked as easily either. Just 'cause someone's pretty doesn't mean they're not smart enough to defend themselves."
"Maybe we should change the story then." Carousella said. "We do it all the time at story time with your grandpa, don't we?"
Conveniently, Boba arrived with Qui-Gon at that moment. Qui-Gon was carrying a book in his arm.
"Hi, Big Brother. Hi, Grandpa." Gabby waved.
"Hello, Gabriella." Qui-Gon said. "I heard you got the role for this story."
Qui-Gon held the book.
"I wonder if my book jumping power has anything to do with us always getting just the right book at just the right times."
"Maybe." Carousella said. "Gabby here believes we should change the story."
"How so?" Qui-Gon asked.
"Well, Snow White is the prettiest girl in the land, but not exactly the toughest princess." Gabby said. "Why can't a girl be pretty and strong?"
"Well then, why don't we change that ourselves?" said Qui-Gon.
Omega told the other Batchers they wouldn't want to miss this. So, they and the horses gathered around as the story began.
"Our story begins in the castle where there lives an evil queen whose sole desire was to be the fairest in the land."
