Ahhh my head.. my body... everything aches.
"Do we have any idea who this guy is?" Spoke a grumbly voice.
"I told you that you'll be informed of any updates. This is a hospital remember. Not an interrogation room." Replied a female voice.
Wait... huh?
"You are aware that this person has the potential of having a quirk."
"I'm very well aware. Now please leave."
Izuku slowly began opening his eyes and watched as a man in a trench coat step out of the room and saw a blonde woman in a white lab coat looking at Izukus chart. She looked at him over the top of her glasses seeing him stir.
She looked familiar too Izuku but he wasn't exactly sure where he'd seen her before.
"I see you're awake. Do you know where you are or what happened?" She asked gently.
Izuku groaned "there was a villian attack... my friends and I we're trying to stop him... are they okay?"
The doctor stared at him "I'm sorry did you say villian attack?"
Izuku nodded slowly.
The doctor wrote in her notes. "Could you tell me your name?"
"Izuku Midoriya. My hero name is Deku."
The doctor froze up and stared at him with her golden cat like eyes as though she'd seen a ghost "that's... not possible."
"Huh?"
She stepped back and looked into the hall and confirmed the detective that was there moments ago is gone. She then shut the door and stood back at the bedside "Izuku. You and I have a lot to talk about and little time."
Izuku nodded as he's confusion grew more and more.
"So my first question to you is do you recognise who I am?" She asked as she pulled up a seat and sat down.
"You look familiar but I can't remember sorry." He admitted as he rubbed the back of his neck.
The doctor chuckled "well then allow me to introduce myself. I'm Doctor Lyashi. But you might remember me as Himiko Toga."
Izuku immediately paled as his eyes widened and pressed back further against the bed in unexpected fear "T-TOGA!!!"
She immediately stood up and backed away "calm down, calm down. I'm not gonna do anymore hurt you. I sort of took an oath to do no harm and all that jazz."
Izuku remained in a panic "but but. You were arrested and sent to Keimusho prison."
She nodded "you are correct. But after I got the quirk vaccine I went into the recivilised program for six years then changed my name and eventually got my PHD and have been working here the last few months."
"Wait wait wait." Izuku shook his head trying to process everything he heard "you're talking as though the war was decades ago and not a couple years."
She gave him a sad look and sighed "I think it's best if you talk to a friend or someone that isn't me. Is there someone I can contact to come see you."
He gulped nervously as he tried to think of who he should call.
Ring ring*click*
"Doctor Lyashi. This is an unexpected call... wait.. WHAT?!!!"
A man in a suit wearing glasses with some grey coming through his hair stepped through the door and stared gobsmacked as he looked at Midoriya.
Izuku stared back in shock seeing his friend look aged slightly "...Iida"
Iida stepped around the bed and pulled his long lost friend in too a tight hug and began to cry "we saw you in the explosion... we thought you died"
Izuku wasn't entirely sure how to react but the emotion of his friend caused him to turn on the water works aswell and held him tight. It took the pair a few moments to calm down enough and Izuku finally asked
"Iida. What the hells going on. Whys Toga free and how did you get older... n-no offence."
Iida chuckled as he removed his glasses to remove his eyes "none taken. Midoriya what's the last thing you remember?
"... that guy throwing those energy ball things towards Uraraka." He admitted.
Iida nodded. "Well in that moment you used your black whip quirk to save her but it caused an explosion... Midor... Izuku... that all happened twenty years ago. You got caught in the explosion and we all thought... we all thought you died in the explosion."
"Twenty years..." Izuku whispered as he processed what he was told.
Iida nodded "yes... and Izuku... a lot has changed in that time.. and I mean a lot."
Iida gave Izuku a history lesson of what his death had caused.
A politician named Hason Shita used Izukus death to encourage the public to a referendum to outlaw the use of quirks and to the shock of the pro hero community it passed. This then lead to him to slip through the quirk vaccine which was basically the quirk removal bullet but in medical form.
This somehow became mandatory for all people to have in order to prevent villian hero conflicts. This was meet with resistance especially for those whose quirk affected their appearance. This was quickly put to rest but a vaccine that removed one's power but doesn't affect there appearance.
However it's becoming increasingly noticed that there is no new generations of mutant quirk holders and no babies or children a developing quirks as they are now vaccinated at birth.
This began to raise questions of discrimination against mutant humans about not being allowed to breed. But was brushed aside as rumour with no medical proof to show this was true.
As the years passed villian attacks all but ceased and hero became redundant as modern crimes were easily dealt with by the police with the old hero support companies turning their technology to aiding the police and first responders.
However with quirks being outlawed that made anyone caught using a quirk showed they lied about being vaccinated and was automatically thrown into jail time and forced to be vaccinated. So this lead to Izuku realising something.
He suddenly went from being a well respected hero to a criminal.
"So your quirk?" Izuku asked
Iida pulled up his pant leg revealing that his engine quirk was gone and now had normal legs "Is gone. I'm just a regular person like you once were."
Izuku gulped. He wasn't exactly keen to lose One for All over some nonsense law. But from the sounds of things what choice did he have. "I guess I'll need to get the jab."
Iida turned to him "Absolutely not."
"Huh"
"Sorry Midoriya but I can't allow you to lose your quirk. Infact your return is exactly what Yaoyorozu needs to get the quirk law turned. She's been fighting this since day one and has made it a political career. She wants this thing over turned like the rest of us." Explained Iida.
"Wait. I'm not sure if I'm the right person to fight politics." Said Izuku waving his arms in a panic.
"You'll be fine. I'll contact Yaoyorozu and make the arrangements. For now I think it's best if you come home with me." Declared Iida with his old heroic confidence.
Twenty years. That'll make everyone in class thirsty seven or thirty eight depending on what month it is. Thought Izuku to himself as he followed Iida up to the stairs to his apartment.
As Iida filled with his Keys he took a deep breath and turned to Izuku. "Listen Midoriya. You're one of my closest friends and I'd never have any intention of knowingly hurt you. You know that yes."
Izuku was caught off guard by that question and tilted his head "yeah?"
Iida became visibly nervous as he unlocked the door and stepped a side. "In saying that I have something important to tell you. I got married to someone."
Izuku smiled and patted them his friends shoulder as he entered the apartment "oh well congratulations. Im happy for you although I'm not sure why you felt nervous to tell me that. Who's the lucky g..."
Izukus words got in his throat as he saw Iida's wedding portrait hang on the wall in the entry hall. He immediately began hearing his heart thump in his ears as he automatically recognised the woman in the image.
A voice echoed through the apartment. It's was a mature voice but he recognised it clearly. "Oh honey you're home."
"Uh yeah and I've brought him a guest that you might be a little surprised to see." Announced a still very nervous Iida as he locked the door behind him.
"Oh. And who may that b..." the woman walked around the corner and froze in place seeing Izuku standing before her. She went as pale as he was and tears automatically began to swell in her eyes.
Izukus past thoughts disappeared at the sight of her. She had matured a lot but she was still the same person he remembered. "H-hey Ochako."
The moment he spoke is when she finally dropped the dish she was holding and the sound of shattering echoed through the apartment.
