A Rio Restart:

What If Only One Remembered? Part 3

(Blu's Side) A long time ago, far away in the city of Rio de Janeiro, there was a young blue macaw named Blu. He was known to be a very shy but smart and kind bird, always happy being free, living a human type of life. Until he eventually adapted to jungle life. Especially with his family, which was his wife, best friends, and three children. But somehow, he ended up back in time, in the first week he met his wife. Then once he figured it out, he devised a plan that would help.

He was stuck in February 2010 and was brought inside the artificial jungle room at the bird hospital. Originally, he was brought to the room to meet his future wife to help save their species. But he had a way to help make that happen, by convincing her to fall in love with him again and gain her trust before they would go to the Amazon and tell her everything.

So once he was inside, he took a deep breath, shook his feathers down because Tulio gave him that weirdo birdo style again, and he proceeded to find his one and only.

"Jewel?" He called out and continued. "Jewel? Uh…I come in peace." Just then he heard wings flapping, looked up, and saw her. "Whoa. Just like last time. She's as beautiful as ever." He continued staring at her as she flapped down smiling. "I can't wait to have my life with this angel all over again." He continued until, "Wait. I better make sure I don't-!" But he was too late to avoid Jewel's attack. She rammed right into him and they both rolled around until Blu was on the ground, and Jewel was on top of him. She had her talon on his throat and spoke in a different language, as a sign of self-defence.

"You-gla!" Blu tried talking but couldn't. Jewel didn't understand it until he finally said, "You're standing on my throat." Then she let go and said, "Oh, you're an American."

Blu cleared his throat and said, "Yeah. I need my throat for talking, so thank you."

Jewel examined him and said, "You look like me."

"Yeah, uh excuse me but…uh…I first wanna start by saying hi. My name is Blu, and by any chance do you, uh, happen to remember me?"

"Remember you?" Jewel took another good look at him and said, "No, I don't believe so. That's not even a question I hear everyday, but why? Have we met before?"

"Um, you could say that. But how about I continue the introduction more properly. Your…your name is Jewel, right?"

"Yes?"

"Good. Look, I don't know how to explain this except…the humans brought me here. They kind of-"

"Humans brought you here? That's not a surprise. But what is a surprise is that it's your lucky day."

"Huh?" Blu felt confused until Jewel took his wing and made him run with her through the room. "Hey wait, wait. Whoa." He ducked passed the tree branch he ran over last time and chuckled before bumping into the wall of another tree. "Ow. Should've seen that coming." He mumbled, and saw Jewel fly up. So he climbed up, remembering what happened next.

Then Jewel landed next to him as he reached the top. She said with a smile, "Are you ready?"

"For what?" Blu replied. "Oh right, right. Sure." Then Jewel turned and he took a deep breath before saying in his head, "Time to make up for my first mistake."

He approached her, and Jewel said, "Alright. Blu, right now I'm trying to pry open this metal thing here and I need your help if you want to escape."

"Okay. I can help with that. But first, there are some things I need to inform you about."

"Alright. What is it?"

"First off, if we go out there, the people in charge of this place will likely notice us gone. Which is why I need to leave something to make sure they don't follow us."

"Really? What do you have that will do that?"

"I'll explain later. I know I'm a stranger to you, but trust me, I can help." Then Blu flew down, and revealed to have a piece of paper and bird size pencil with him. He used them to write down a quick message, and Jewel stayed where she was, being confused about what he was doing but still waited.

"That is one strange macaw." She mumbled. "Then again, I did just meet him so maybe I shouldn't judge. What I can judge, however, is how he acts like he's met me before. How did he know my name? Why is he acting so eager for me to trust him?"

Then Blu soon finished and came back to her, saying, "Alright, done. Now to this." He pointed to the air-vent. "We don't need to pry it open to escape, Jewel. All we need are our talons. You use them to unscrew the bolts at each corner. Watch." Blu used his claw to loosen all three of the tight bolts on the wall, and it caused the whole cover to open.

Jewel smiled saying, "Whoa. Impressive."

"Thanks." Blu said in a proud tone.

"Now let's get out of here."

"Right, but I need to-" Blu tried explaining another part of the plan he wanted to execute but Jewel started running through the air-vent and failed to finish as she was too far off. Blu rolled his eyes, looked at the room, and saw the fake trees that looked rather weak. He planned to push them over in order to get the guard and the others' attention but decided to leave them alone. So he followed Jewel through the vent, having another big smile on his face as he hoped his plan for Jewel and himself would work.
