Chapter 1: A New Friend!
Ivory had been flying for hours now; she was exhausted and needed to rest. She flew down to a branch perching on it, slowly starting to drift off her eyelids slowly closing. as she tried to get in a comfortable position, Ivory heard a voice near her and was confused. Who was there? Was it one of her younger sisters but how? she opened her eyes, noticing a small figure back up, her vision blurred. She tilted her head even more confused. What is she even looking at..?
The blurry figure was small, had round ears and wings and was blue. She opened her eyes completely and noticed it was a bat! But they were rather…small.
"..Can I help you?" She asked, raising a brow a little annoyed as the smaller bat stepped forward.
"Who are you?" The small bat asked, Ivory moved so she was no longer hanging so she could get a better look at the bat, noticing he was smaller than originally thought.
"My name is Ivory, What is your name?" She inquired.
"I'm Shade, Shade Silverwing. Say what's wrong with your wings?" Her brows furrowed a bit, insulted.
"What do you mean?" She queried.
Shade looked at her, confused. "Your wings are really bright." Ivory blinked, confused. "I'm a Phoenixwing, Ivory Phoenixwing."
"Oh, I've never heard of a Phoenixwing before." Shade answered, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Yeah, I'm from the jungle." He looked at her with a confused expression, that's when she realized he had no idea what a jungle was.
"Why are you so- small?" Shade's expression changed from embarrassment to a look of anger? Or was it hurt? Ivory was confused but noticed his posture stiffen nonetheless.
"I'm a runt, but thanks for reminding me." He was going to take off but before he could Ivory spoke up:
"I'm sorry, I should've known that was offensive to ask." She blurted out, cursing herself mentally, she was taught better than that. "I'm also quite lost.."
"It's alright I guess. You could come with me and stay with my colony and I, I'm sure my elder would know how to help you." He looked at her, smiling.
"Thank you so much." She said, relief washing over her as she smiled back.
Shade took off, and Ivory flew after him. As they flew they started talking more and getting to know each other. She noticed the sun was coming up and before she could say anything he brought her inside the tree and she shrugged it off, thinking he wanted to introduce her before they went to hunt. Just before they fully went into Tree Haven Ivory looked at Shade nervously.
"Shade, what if your colony doesn't like me..?" She fretted.
"Trust me Ivy, they'll love you." She reluctantly nodded as the young bat attempted to reassure her.
When they entered Tree Haven fully, she saw their eyes go on her and butterflies started flying around in her stomach. holding her arm she looked at the ground, Ivory could hear some of the silverwings whisper and gossip normally that didn't bother her, but these were bats she didn't know.
"Shade!" a soft but stern voice called out.
She looked over to the direction she heard the voice come from, noticing an older female wrap her wings around Shade in a tight hug, that made her think this was a family member of some sort Mother or Sister perhaps. she also noticed that she was followed by a male silverwing..
He had light blue fur, like the sky during the day, navy blue outer wings, light yellow eyes, a mane that look a bit like cream and a dark blue goatee and no head hair, while the female looked to be of a lavender type of blue for her fur, green eyes that looked like emeralds, a bright yellow mane, like the sun with a darker streak of yellow in the middle her head hair matched her mane and a velvet purple for her outer wings.
"Shade, I was so worried! I was about to send Mercury to go find you, you know you can't be out late due to the owls patrolling the area-" Ivory looked at Shade.
"Wait..What?" The female silverwing looked at her, and Ivory gave her a sheepish grin, embarrassed.
"Oh, who's this?" The older silverwing asked.
"Mom, This is Ivory! She's lost; I was hoping that we could bring her with us. She has nowhere else to go."
"Where are you from dear?" Shade's mother asked, Ivory looked between the two noticing the similarities and realized his mother was waiting for a response.
She cleared her throat, and replied. "I'm from the jungle, It's far from here and I was hoping that maybe your elder will know how I can get back."
The male called Mercury spoke up. "I'll go ask the Council.." He took off, to the Elders roost.
Ivory waited for minutes for his return, those minutes filled with anxiety and fear. What if they don't meet with her? What will she do? She has no idea where she is, this environment is so much different than the jungle she was brought out of her thoughts when she heard someone say:
"Ivory, the elders accepted a meeting with you."
Meanwhile Back in the City..
Celine had finally finished working on her serum, all she had to do was test it, but how? as she was getting lost in thought brainstorming different ways to test it a sudden loud voice scream out:
"CECEE HEY!"
She looked over and jumped, knocking the serum over spilling on herself and the boy in front of her, she sighed in annoyance looking at him. "Cecil, nice to see you too. thank you so much for not calling me ahead of time for your wonderful visit."
The taller boy looked down at her, rolling his eyes as he smiled. "Celine, I did call you but it went to voicemail, besides that beats the purpose of a surprise visit." She simply nodded, and crossed her arms.
"You just made me waste a good year's worth of work, I hope you're happy." Cecil looked down at himself and then at his female friend's clothing realizing it spilled onto both of them.
"Sorry Celine." He said, rubbing the back of his head. She can't stay mad at him, no matter how hard she tries- she just can't.
"..It's alright Cecil, just- please next time don't do that." Her arms falling back to her sides as she walked over picking up the bigger pieces of the vile that broke.
"What were you even doing?" He asked while watching her clean up the rest of the glass that had been there.
"Why I was working on a serum to be able to understand bats better, Cecil."
Cecil nodded, not fully getting why she'd want to understand bats. "Speaking of bats, Fun fact! I've never seen a real bat."
Celine raised a brow, not believing him and scoffed rolling her eyes. "Sure you haven't, We literally live in an area full of bats."
"Well yeah but I haven't seen one." He retorted.
She looked at him and smiled slightly. "Well then you're in luck, I have to go check on some bats that we are taking care of..maybe we might even see the nearby colony of silver-haired bats leave for hibernation." Celine walked out of her workroom after cleaning up the broken glass grabbing her coat sliding it on and headed out the door with Cecil in toe.
