Chapter 2: Basil
« I have to tell you something»
Basil definitely knew what was something. He had seen it. He was still hurt by his injuries but this, it eases this pain more than any medication could do. Fear had never left him from that day. Fear that everyone would know, fear that everyone would blame Sunny, fear of himself to be capable of such horrors, fear of losing Sunny. One way or another, every one of his fears became true. He loses Sunny during long years, he couldn't stand to watch himself in a mirror, he realises that Mari's suicide was his behalf, Sunny blame himself during all those years, and now everyone knows the truth. Yet, it was all much scarier in his mind. He was still scared, he even was terribly afraid, none of his injuries made him feel as bad as he was right now. Despite everything, he is scared but he is not alone.
Loneliness is what eats Basil during those years. He was guilty, afraid, devastated by Mari's death but above all of that, he was all alone. Nothing would have been or will be easy, but everything just looks so less scary with his friends, even if they hate him. He could bear the rage, the profound disgust, of his friend for him, but he can't stand the loneliness, not again.
He was ashamed of his selfishness, despite being a monster who dishonoured Mari's memory, he still feels reassured that everyone, that Sunny, was by his side in this very moment.
