Alright, Mossy here! Sorry this chapter is shorter than normal, I had horrible writer's block, but I managed to write... something. Enjoy!

ThatOneVirgo- I'm glad I was able to get Milkkit's character correct! She was really fun to write for. Also, thanks!

jabaredjf- Yeah, Milkkit probably should be careful. Icepaw will probably take longer to become a warrior than the other apprentices. Featherstep personally asked to train her so she could help the she-cat become a warrior. I'm trying to portray her as close as I can to how the person who submitted wanted, so I hope that I'm doing a good job!

CrimsonRaspberry- Thanks for the OCs! They should be added to the alligences now.

Heatherkit still had a moon to go till she became an apprentice. The den was getting crowded, as her and all the other kits had grown. Rosekit and Mintkit were gossiping in the corner of the nursery. Coltskit and Comfrykit were wrestling out front. Rootkit was probably in the medicine den. It was a pretty lazy day. Heatherkit decided that she wanted to go talk to the apprentices, considering she was going to be one soon.

As she walked out she saw Mistflight asking Eagletalon if he wanted to go hunting together. The silver tabby looked oddly nervous for some reason. Eagletalon puffed out his chest and agreed and the two cats padded off together, talking under their breath. That was weird. Heatherkit saw Mistlebird flirting with Pinefall and the dark brown tom with hanging on to her every word.

Heatherkit made her way to the apprentices den. She saw Birdpaw and Hawkpaw talking out front.

"I'm just saying, there are a lot of cats outside of the clan that probably need help," Hawkpaw stated.

"Hawkpaw, you can help cats here." Birdpaw cried, desperately trying to convince Hawkpaw, "You don't need to leave the clan!"

"Birdpaw-"

"No Hawkpaw," Birdpaw interrupted, "Imagine how hard your departure would be on Coltskit and Comfrykit. Especially Comfrykit, you know how much he looks up to you!"

"I'm going to leave," Hawkpaw huffed, "And that's final!"

Heatherkit cocked her head, Hawkpaw was leaving? He wasn't even a warrior yet. Comfrykit bounded over to his siblings.

"Watcha talking about?" he asked.

"N-Nothing Comfrykit," Birdpaw said, "Hawkpaw and I were just having a debate."

"Oh," Comfrykit said, "Can I join? Coltskit went into the medicine den again and I'm bored."

"Uh, sure," Birdpaw exclaimed. They reached over and grabbed a mossball, "How about you play with Heatherkit!"

"I want to play with Hawkpaw!" Comfrykit stomped his paw and Hawkpaw winced. Swiftpaw and Smallpaw came out and grabbed a piece of prey.

"Hi Heatherkit!" Smallpaw said. Comfrykit started to copy a hunting crouch Hawkpaw was showing him. He was unbalanced and fell over.

"Mousedung," Comfrykit hissed.

"You'll get it in time," Hawkpaw comforted him.

"Hey, Heatherkit, want me to tell you a story?" Birdpaw asked.

"Sure!" Heatherkit bounded up to the older apprentice, "I'm so bored."

"Well, I heard that once there was a Cliffclan cat named Lionclaw. He was a very handsome and respected warrior, and had many admirers. But there was only one cat that he loved, and that was the Runningclan deputy, Berryleaf. Berryleaf rejected his advances many times, but each time Lionclaw managed to weasel his way into her heart a little more. Eventually, Berryleaf fell in love with Lionclaw, but a Runningclan tom called Hazewhisker also loved Berryleaf. He was furious when he found out that Berryleaf was sneaking out to meet Lionclaw. Hazewhisker decided to take over Runningclan, and force Berryleaf to be his mate. He left the clans in the search of the most vicious and bloodthirsty rouges he could find. Meanwhile, Berryleaf gave birth to Lionclaw's kits in secret. Nobody knew who the father of those kits was, but some cats began to grow suspicious. One day, when Berryleaf's kits had just been made apprentices, Hazewhisker returned with an army. Lionclaw led a patrol of Cliffclan cats to help in the battle. When Hazewhisker saw Lionclaw, the two toms battled viciously. But Hazewhisker fought dirty against the honorable Lionclaw and struck him down. Berryleaf, upon seeing the dead body of her mate flew into a rage and killed Hazewhisker. The death of their leader caused the rouges to scatter, but the battle was not won without a cost. Berryleaf succumbed to her wounds three days after the fight. Rumor is that Lionclaw's name was on her lips the whole time. The kits, who had been told who their father was after the battle, grew up to become loyal Runningclan warriors. But some say that Hazewhisker is still planning his revenge on Lionclaw and Berryleaf's descendants to this day."

"Wow!" Heatherkit exclaimed, "You're such a good story-teller Birdpaw!"

Birdpaw blushed, "Well, it was nothing. I rather enjoy telling stories."

Vinefrost walked up to Birdpaw and Heatherkit, "What are you two talking about?"

"Birdpaw was just telling me the story of Berryleaf and Lionclaw!" Heatherkit exclaimed. She wondered if she would even save the clan and be remembered in such a way. "Hey Vinefrost, do you think that they'll tell stories about me when I go to Starclan?"

"Well, that depends on what you do as a warrior," Vinefrost explained, "Some cats are remembered for evil deeds, such as Hazewhisker. I'm sure you want to be remembered for good deeds."

"Obviously," Heatherkit snorted, and Birdpaw laughed. Suddenly two voices rang out from the medicine den.

"No Coltskit, Coltsfoot is used to ease cats who are having breathing difficulties!" Rootkit's voice rang out.

"Um, Rootkit, I think I know what the herb that I'm named after does and it helps soothe cracked paw pads," Coltskit said calmly.

Grassflower entered the camp, carrying a fresh bushel if herbs. She sat the bushel down and said, "Both of you are right. Coltsfoot can be used to do both of those things."

"Oh," Rootkit looked embarrassed.

"Fascinating!" Coltskit exclaimed, "I love learning new things in the medicine den!"

"Things will be… interesting when those two are apprentices," Vinefrost whispered to Heatherkit.

"Yeah," she laughed. She was looking forward to her own apprentice ceremony next moon. Only one more moon to go!
