jabaredjf- Thanks! Yeah, Hazewhisker will probably make an appearance later. Don't worry, Berryleaf's descendants will be revealed... (once I decide who they are)

Also, if anyone specifically wants their OC to be descended from Berryleaf, say so!

Today was the day, Redkit's apprentice ceremony. He was really nervous, and didn't want to be embarrassed in front of the whole clan. He prayed that his mother wouldn't make a scene.

Lilykit walked up to him, "I know you will be an impeccable apprentice Redkit, and I wish you the best of luck."

Redkit chuckled, "Thanks Lilykit."

Darkfang came over and smoothed down his fur. "We can't have you looking bad for your ceremony, these cats already judge us enough," Darkfang hissed under her breath. Sometimes Redkit wished that his mother got along with the other cats better. He knew that she had given birth to him when she was still an apprentice and that some of the older warriors had given her grief about it. She still wouldn't tell him who his father was. Part of him had hoped, maybe, that she would. He was getting older, he could probably handle the truth.

Redkit saw cats gather for the ceremony. Thundercloud was sitting next to Mintdove and showing her sister her impression of Rockslide, Stoneclan's serious medicine cat. Mintdove was laughing her tail off and Redkit swore that there were tears coming out of her eyes. Flamepaw was chatting with Burntpaw and Dragonflypaw. Acornpaw was attempting to flirt with Rabbitfoot, but the deputy only snapped at her to go sit with the other apprentices. Viperpaw was looking at Redkit condescendingly, as if he'd already written him off as a bad apprentice. Redkit took a deep breath to calm himself. This was his day, he shouldn't let Viperpaw get under his skin. Mistlepaw have him a reassuring smile and Redkit suddenly decided to focus on her. Mistlepaw was his best friend and she would always be there for him.

Olivestar was already standing on top of the old, huge oak stump the the clan gathered around for meetings. It was known as the Great Stump. Olivestar cleared his throat, quieting the clan. "Today, I have the honor of performing one of my favorite ceremonies. A kit is now ready to go down the metamorphic journey to warriorhood, but first, he must be an apprentice."

"Redkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Redpaw. Your mentor will be Clearwing. I hope Clearwing will pass down all he knows on to you." Olivestar smiled at Redpaw and sent him a wink that said, You're doing fine kid. It made the butterflies in Redpaw's stomach abate somewhat. Clearwing was a fun tom, and Redkit felt happy to have him as a mentor. Most of the warriors in the clan had apprentices and Redkit was very afraid that he's been going to get Rabbitfoot as a mentor. Then, Olivestar turned to Clearwing, who looked at Redpaw with happy, blue eyes and smiled.

"Clearwing," Olivestar began, "You are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Wildpelt, and you have shown yourself to be selfless and kind. You will be the mentor of Redpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him."

Clearwing walked up to Redpaw and touched his nose to his new apprentice. "Redpaw! Redpaw! Redpaw!" Redpaw looked over and Darkfang, who looked proud of him. Mistlepaw cheered his name almost louder than anyone and Redpaw sent his friend a small smile. Redpaw stood there basking in the cheers for a while. After the ceremony ended, Darkfang walked up to him.

"Darling, don't let anyone ever put you down. And if they do, and good claw swipe to the eye ensures that they won't mess with you again," his mother advised.

"Uh, I'll keep that in mind Mother," Redpaw said. Mistlepaw walked up to him, a shy smile on her face.

"Congratulations Redpaw," Mistlepaw said, her ears turning red. Redpaw wondered what the matter was. Maybe Mistlepaw was overheating.

"Let's sit in the shade," Redpaw suggested and the black she-cat nodded.

"T-That sounds lovely," Mistlepaw stuttered, "You know, the sun and my black fur don't really mix. Runningclan lived in a small forest with several streams running through it. The trees in their territory weren't as big or as close together as the forest on Stoneclan's territory, at least, that's what Redkit had heard. But now he was going to see the territory for himself!

Clearwing walked over to his new apprentice. "Redpaw, are you ready to see the territory?" he asked.

Redpaw cocked his head thoughtfully, "Is it okay if Mistlepaw comes with us?"

"If Longclaw says that it's okay," Clearwing replied, "But I'm fine with it."

Mistlepaw flicked her white ear, amber eyes gleaming with excitement, "I'll go ask Longclaw now!"

Redpaw decided to talk to Clearwing while the waited for Mistlepaw. "So, Clearwing? Um, is there anything I should know before we leave?"

"Well," Clearwing said, "I don't think so. I'm really excited to be your mentor! My last apprentice was Appleblossom, so it's been a while since I've taught a youngin' like you."

"Dad, you're not that old!" Dragonflypaw laughed from nearby, their light green eyes filled with mirth. Clearwing sent his kit a smile.

Redpaw saw Rabbitfoot talking to Quickpaw a little further off. Redpaw couldn't tell what he was saying, but from the anger in Quickpaw's eyes and the way his ears were flat, Redpaw could tell that Quickpaw was in trouble. Rabbitfoot was scary when he was angry, he didn't yell, he just was cold and sharp with a gaze that felt like claws sinking into your flesh. For some reason he always seemed to hate Redpaw, and this dislike had been passed on to Viperpaw. Mistlepaw was easily the nicest out of her siblings. Speaking of Mistlepaw, she was running over to them, huffing and puffing as fast as she could.

"Longclaw said I could go!" she said excitedly. But then she looked over at Rabbitfoot and Redpaw saw a flash of fear in her eyes. "W-We should get going."

"Are you okay?" Redpaw whispered, concerned about his friend.

"Y-Yeah," Mistlepaw said, "M-My father's just scary when he's mad."

Redpaw thought it was more than that, but he didn't want to pry. "Let's go!" Clearwing exclaimed as they set out.

They walked along the stream that marked the border with Cliffclan. Redpaw saw fish swimming in the water and his mouth watered. He loved fish!

Mistlepaw must have noticed his face because she whispered, "You're going to learn how to catch them soon. Hopefully, you'll have better luck then me!"

"You'll get it eventually," Redpaw said with an encouraging smile, causing Mistlepaw's ears to turn red.

"T-Thanks Redpaw," she blushed.

"And here's the Dead Tree," Clearwing explained, "Rumor has it that this tree was the tallest in the forest until a bolt of lightning struck it down."

"Wow!" Redpaw gasped. The Dead Tree was still really tall. He was so happy to be out here, exploring the territory with Mistlepaw. He also saw the training area, a small clearing in some trees, and Stream's End, a small pond at the end of one of the streams in the territory where apprentices were taught to fish. It was near the camp, so kits were often taken there to play as long as they were supervised. Redkit smiled as he remembered teaching Lilykit, Mousekit, and Lowkit how to tread water last moon. By the time he got back to camp, he was exhausted.

"How was the tour?" Mistlepaw asked.

"Better because you were there," Redpaw grinned. Mistlepaw smiled sheepishly as Redpaw walked into the den.

"Oh Redpaw," Mistlepaw muttered under her breath, "One day I'll tell you how I feel."

"What did you say?" Redpaw asked his friend.

"Nothing," Mistle said quickly, "Come on, I already made you a nest."

Any ship Redpaw and Mistlepaw?
