Into the Marshal's den
A girls und panzer Test Fic

Miho took a few deep breaths as she walked across the encampment. A hand patted her softly on the back. "It's going to be fine. It's just an introduction and short talk with the commander," Yukari ensured with a warm smile. "Besides, I will be here with you." Miho looked Yukari's way and tried to smile back with confidence. She half succeeded. The campground was riddled with tents, boxes, equipment and the occasional Union student 'judging from the drab olive uniforms and the distinctive side cap'. Yukari looked around with amazement. "To think we would team up with a new school right out of the gate. Amazing!" Yukari beamed as she admired some spare parts next to a tent. "Yeah… I hope we can make this work." Miho quietly responded. "No doubt in my mind! With the great Nishizumi Miho, everything is possible!"

They passed by a T-junction, leading to a field filled with tanks. Miho took a short glance at them, a broad mix of vehicles seemingly cobbled together. "Wooooow!" Yukari gasped, "Is that a Renault Kégresse!?" Miho only recognised a few vehicles before she turned her head back, drifting away in thought. Such a wide selection won't be a problem. We aren't strangers to operating with an unorthodox lineup. I just need to familiarize myself with them. Ah! Yukari is with me. I could ask her to fill in the gaps in my knowledge.
"Such a wide mix will be interesting. I might need a refresher on their capabilities,'' Miho mused. "Could you fill me in on them Yukari?"

Miho expected an elaborate and excited info dump, but It was strangely quiet.

"Yukari?" Miho looked to her left. No Yukari.

She stopped, looking around the site. No sight of her Fluffy loader.

Oh…

"Are you lost?" Miho turned around, a Union student standing a few steps away, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh, uhm… well, I have a meeting with the overall commander," Miho answered. Mentally readjusting herself to the fact that she might have to do the meeting alone.

The student smirked, "Which one?"

"P-Pardon?"

The Union student led her to a grey tent at the edge of the campground. As Miho approached, she could hear the sounds of muffled arguing."Good luck," said the student. Giving Miho a shoulder pat and flashing her a smile which was a cross between glee and sympathy before walking off.

"Thank you?" Miho mumbled baffled. She took a few deep breaths as she gathered the courage to enter. "I got this," Miho muttered. Punctuating the self-assurance with a nod and pulled the flap open.

A barrage of noise flooded over her like the blast of a mortar strike. The canvas of the tent was thick and heavy which must have kept the majority of the noise caged in. The room was covered with furniture, equipment and documents spilt everywhere. A large table stood at the centre, where 2 students were arguing with outside voices set to max. A 3rd sat at the table with her head resting on her fist, boredom written on her freckled face. And a 4th leaning back in a chair looking at the ceiling with her eyes closed, annoyance edged in her brow. As Miho took a few steps forward, she noticed 2 more sitting on each side of the entrance. A student with raven black hair, wearing headphones and watching something on her phone. Resting her boots on a box. On the other side sat a student with light blond hair reading a book cross-legged. In her free hand, she held a fancy glass. Swirling around a red drink, occasionally taking a sip. During such a sip her eyes flashed up to meet Miho's before returning to her reading. Miho swallowed as she walked forward to the table to get the attention of the arguing students.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU LET US BRING ALONG OUR PANZER IV'S!?" shouted the student with blond parted hair on the left side of the table.

"Because YOU are already pushing it with your panzer III team! Any more and we run into fuel complications!" snapped the student with the braided hair on the other side of the table.

"Pardon my intrusio-" Miho tried.

"LEAVE THE M-28'S AT THE SHIP THEN! DO YOU WANT TO HANDICAP OUR SCHOOL?" argued the left side. Throwing a hand in the air as if swatting a fly.

"Because they are OUR school's pride, PROSEK!" countered the student on the right.

"Our schools pri-!? THEY ARE YOUR SCHOOL'S PRIDE YOU KUČKA!" yelled the girl on the left, Prosek. Throwing her hands up, as if to strangle the air.

"I am Looking for the coman-" Miho tried again.

"Twin eagles or not, It's OUR pride, and we should HONOUR IT!" shouted braids on the right.

"YOUR PRIDE CAN'T EVEN TAKE OUT 3/4 OF OUR OWN ARSENAL!" howled Prosek.

"But our-" interjected braids as she started to get flustered.

"WHY NOT MORE STUARTS OR SOME L6/40'S. MY GOD EVEN THE H39'S ARE MORE USEFUL THAN YOUR! FUCKING! PRIDE!" ranted Prosek. Slamming the table with her hand repeatedly.

"IT'S OUR PRIDE!" Wailed braids.

"YOUR PRIDE IS SHIT! YOU HEAR ME KAFANA, SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" roared Prosek.

Miho tried to wave to the girls to get their attention. However, at that moment the student called Kafana decided to have a minor disagreement.
"IT IS NOT SHIT! YOU'RE SHIT! YOU… Y-YOU…" Kafana spluttered. Now beet red in the face.

"COME ON CoMaNdEr, SPIT IT OUT THEN. I'M ALL EAR-" taunted Prosek. Leaning further over the table with one hand on her ear.

No reply hit Prosek's ears. Instead, Kafana's fist did. Within seconds the 2 students were in a full-scale brawl across the table.
Miho took a step back, both in shock and to dodge a document folder flying off course. The other girl on the right who had been idle and looking on as the argument was unfolding now got up. Slamming one hand on the table and the other making a broad gesture towards Miho.
"Enough with this pointless argument already. It's been done to death. Besides, we seemed to have a guest over. So behave yourse-"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU TURK!" Prosek snarled mid-punch.

"Da Bogda ti bio zadnji zalogaj." the freckled girl mumbled right before shoving Kafana out of the way, only to slam Prosek across the face with a book. A hard-cover book.

Miho, silently considered to just leave the tent and come back later. But some movement in the back caught her eye. The call-out by the freckled girl seemed to have drawn the attention of the 4th student who had raised her head. She stood up and walked over to the table. Without a word, she grabbed both brawlers by the collar and crashed their heads together, knocking them unconscious. The freckled girl, trying to get a few more jabs in on Prosek, gets shoved aside.

"I'm not done yet, I wi-" The freckled girl rebutted before getting silenced by a glare so piercing it would go clean through a panther's hull. She sat down again and sulked in silence. The silent student sighed and cast her gaze on Miho.
"My apologies for this circus tent. How can I help you, miss…" she said. Trailing off while making a circling motion with her hand.

"N-Nisizumi…Nisizumi Miho miss." Miho answered trying to recollect herself after everything she just witnessed.

"Aha. A pleasure to meet my co-commander for the practice match," she said folding her arms behind her back.

Miho's confusion must have been written on her face as the girl sighed and explained.
"This, is the official overall commander. Kafana." she gestured to the braided brown-haired girl on the right.

"This, is the self-appointed overall commander. Prosek." gesturing to the parted blond hair girl on the left.

"That, is Vice-commander Salep." gesturing to the curly-haired freckled girl pouting on the right.

"The one watching a football match is Boza, and the other one reading is Brinjevic. They are our fire support and reconnaissance commanders respectively," gesturing at the students near the entrance.

"And then there's me. I'm the De-facto overall commander of Union Girls academy. The name's Rakija," she finished off by pointing a thumb at herself. Her hair was slicked back, bound in a tight ponytail. Her brow seemed to rest in a permanent frown as her eyes pierced through with such power that could give Nishizumi Shiho a run for her money.
Miho blinked, trying to suppress the urge to shiver.
"I-I see, it's a pleasure- Uhm… The pleasure is likewise, miss Rakija." Miho stumbled.

Rakija nodded, "Now, with the formalities out of the way, let's get down to business."

She placed both hands on the table. The shadows on her face grew by the overhead lamp, her steel blue eyes glinting through the dark. "Let's discuss our strategy to beat Aznio and Kuromorimine."

Miho's neck hair stood up.
Yukari where are you right now… I could really use some of your support,

Because I don't got this…

"Get out of there you gremlinoid fluffball! That's a final warning," a Union student shouted. Shaking her fist at the brown fluff in question, sticking out of the commander's cupola of an M-28.

"I'm in a tank, and you're not" giggled Yukari. Drunk on giddiness.

"JUST GET OUT, FOR FUCK SAKE!"

Authors notes:

I've never written and posted a fan-fiction before. With only original short story experience, it's been quite an exciting and terrifying experience.
I consider this a proof of concept. I have some world-building on paper, but it still has a lot of loose ends. If this is well-liked and people are interested I could look into turning this test into a more fleshed-out story.

Till then, I hope you enjoyed it.
Have a nice day and be nice to yourself.

P.S. If you found any mistakes, my apologies.
