The limousine exits the school grounds and enters the twist and turns of the town's roads. A pair of policemen on bikes escort the car, clearing traffic and ensuring they arrive safely at the station. It isn't long before they reach the train station.

"I'm afraid I can't escort you two any further than this," Ema says as the limousine stops. "I have some paperwork to take care of, but I wish you both good luck in the tournament. Make sure you represent our school in the best possible light and win."

"Don't worry. There is no way we will lose," Kanami smiles. "We will have a great time and fight plenty of strong opponents."

"I will try to keep her in line," Mai adds.

"Make sure she doesn't do anything too crazy," Ema replies, looking worriedly at Kanami.

Mai and Kanami say farewell to Ema before exiting the limo waving as it disappears into the distance. Mai double checks she still has their tickets before picking up her bags.

In a matter of seconds, Kanami is surrounded by her fellow students. Some hand her treats, while others ask for sword lessons when she returns. A few even gave her love letters. All Mai and Mihono can do is watch the scene unfold as more and more students gather around their friends.

"Most of them are too love-struck to even notice," Mihono assures her. "By the way, I will be coming to watch tomorrow, and the president arranged for me to have a room next to you. If you need any help with Kanami, let me know."

"I will," Mai smiles, checking her watch. "We need to get going now. Kanami! We need to leave, or we will miss the train!"

"Good luck!"

"We will be cheering for you!"

"Make sure you win!"

"I'll win for sure, and we can all spar together when I get back!"

"We arrived in Kamakura!"

All around them, people stare but quickly lose interest and go about their day. Kanami skips down the street excitedly, looking around at all the sights and stopping whenever she sees another Toji. If it wasn't for Mai, she would have challenged half the town already. By the time they reach the Origami Mansion, Mai has lost count of the number of people she had to apologise to.

"It's so huge," Kanami beams, looking up at the high wall surrounding the grounds.

"It is," Mai nods.

"Oh, there's someone else here," Kanami says, looking toward a dark-haired girl. "Do you think she is in the tournament tomorrow? She has her Okatana on her. Do you think she would spar with me?"

"Kanami, you promised not to spar with anyone, remember,"

"Okay," Kanami sighs. "Oh, she is coming this way." When Mai looks, she sees the black-haired girl walking their way. "Hey there. Are you in the tournament tomorrow?"

The girl just ignores her. Walking past without uttering a word or even looking their way. She walks right past them, not stopping until… both girls hear a ringing sound causing her to stop. They turn to face each other coming close to drawing their swords but stopping at the last second. Kanami stares into the girl's burgundy eyes until she decides to leave.

"Kanami, is something wrong?" Mai asks.

"Nothing," Kanami shakes her head, watching the black-haired girl walk away. "It was just my imagination."
