Hi there, everyone. Shall we begin?

Chapter 4: Aegon the Sixth of His Name

Aegon

He grew angry at the tears, breaking free and falling from his cheeks as he watched his Uncle Jaehaerys leave with men on the ships Balerion, and Meraxes all joining the large royal fleet led by Lord Stannis Baratheon.

Viserys put a hand on his shoulder, "He'll be back, Aegon. He always comes back." He shrugged Uncle Viserys hand off abruptly and ran off, "Aegon!" He ignored the calls and kept running until he was at his chambers, opening and slamming the door shut.

It wasn't long before a knock came, "Leave me alone!" He snapped and then softened when he heard who it was.

"Little brother, please let me in?" He reluctantly got up from the bed and wiped his face of tears and tear streaks, opening the door to his elder sibling. "I brought a book, Maester Kylon said you've had problems with some of these words." He sighed and together, they spent the hour reading but he was uninterested.

Eventually, his sister grew irritated and slammed the book shut. "I'm sorry, sister." He apologized and Rhaenys smiled and shook her head.

"I know you didn't want him to leave, I didn't want him to leave and get hurt or killed." He hated hearing that, he didn't want any of his family to get hurt let alone killed in war.

War killed his father. Killed his mother and grandfather. He hated war, but Uncle Viserys said they would have to fight when he gets older, that they have to retake what was stolen.

He was a babe, he doesn't remember anything but he remembers uncle Jaehaerys and Ser Willem and Ser Barristan.

"Hey," Rhaenys said, "I have an idea, why don't we go riding tomorrow? Get some fresh air." He didn't answer right away, but he ended up smiling and nodding yes, "We have to remain positive, Aegon. Uncle Jae survived going to King's Landing and facing the Usurper twice now, he's brave so we must be brave too."

His sister's words echoed into his mind over the night, it helped him sleep.

True to her word, he and his sister and uncle Viserys left to ride their horses on the beach. Dany wanted to go too, but she was much too young and so stayed at the castle with her serving women and Ser Willem and Maester Kylon.

It was fun, the reins of his horse were steady and he could feel the muscles of his destrier on his legs. Rhaenys raced him, he indulged in the competitiveness while Viserys tailed behind with their guards who were sent for their protection.

Their trails led to one of the old dragon lairs, ancient they were and this one happened to belong to one.

"You two done?" Viserys asked and he and Rhaenys laughed before getting off their horses, "Where are you going?" their uncle asked and Aegon walked with his sister to the deep cave.

It smelled awful, like what a lizard does or perhaps a snake. Walking in further, a mix of aged smoked stone like the smell of a mine melded in with the dragon stench and he knelt and dug out a human bone sticking out of the dirt.

"Searching for dragons?" Viserys asked, amused by their own fascination.

Rhaenys perked up, "Do you think there are eggs still in the ancient lairs?" She asked and Aegon thought how wonderful it would be to discover some forgotten stone eggs waiting to be hatched.

"Seven's no. Any eggs were at Summerhall when m father's father perished and your own father was born." He and his sister frowned, and so did Viserys before a smile replaced it, "We are the dragons, now, and as dragons, we have to maintain our grace and show ferocity when needed."

Viserys told them stories about dragons all the time, Rhaenys said she had seen their skulls and he and Dany wished they could see them too especially the skull of Balerion or even Vhagar who had died at the Battle above the Gods-Eye.

The three and their escort left not too long after trying and failing to find eggs, despite there not being any to begin with.

All the laughter and merriment ended when they got into the keep, a guard by the name of Gregory hurried over and was flushed from running. "My Princes, Princess. Ser Willem has collapsed."

The three rushed to the chambers of the man who was their advisor over the years, Aegon and Rhaenys sat by Dany who was shaking and Viserys sat at Willem's left while Maester Kylon stood not far.

"Is there nothing you can do?" Viserys demanded to know, and Kylon shook his head.

"Ser Willem has been unwell for months, my Prince. This is to be his natural end, he called for you all if he were to worsen... " Willem coughed, his one blind eye looking everywhere at once. "Today is unfortunately his last."

Aegon had cried enough, hasn't he? He was forced to watch Uncle Jae leave and now he is made to watch their caretaker pass away.

"It is fine, I am at peace... I just," Willem stopped and looked at him, "I wish I could've helped you get what is yours by right, Prince Aegon... No, you are King Aegon, the Sixth of your Name and Lord of the Seven Kingdoms." He choked down the tears, "Ah, there there, Princess Daenerys and Rhaenys. All will be well, I am sure of it."

Then the Knight turned to Viserys, "You and Prince Jaehaerys turned into fine young men, I have faith that your brother will survive whatever the reavers have in store... Or the Usurper and his dogs." Willem breathed heavily, "If the gods are cruel and Jaehaerys dies, then you four must leave from here and go to Dorne, they will shelter you and prepare you for the wars to come."

"No!" Aegon said defiantly, "We are not afraid of the traitor King or his lackeys." Willem smiled and pinched his cheek gently.

Then Willem's hand fell and the body went still, Dany and Rhaenys began to cry and Viserys reached over and closed his eyes for the final time.

A day and a half later, at the beaches they prepared Ser Willem Darry for travel to his home in Darry, Ser Raymun Darry is the Lord of Castle Darry and Willem's cousin. Aegon ran off on his family who called after him, finding himself back at the old dragon lair but ran down a different tunnel.

It was there he cried his eyes out, leaning against a wall he slid down and instead of hitting soft sand his arse landed on something hard and almost like stone.

He groaned and investigated, brushing and running his hand through the sand he made a marvelous discovery.

It was egg-shaped, light green, and a streak of gold or yellow scarring it downward. Aegon brushed the sand off it and picked it up and it was heavy, with the weight of a brick. "Aegon!" He got to his feet and started walking out of the tunnel and back to his family who was astoundingly shocked by the sight of an egg.

Viserys said they should take it, maybe buy ships or sellswords in the future but Aegon said no and that this is his egg and he held it close for a number of days, bathing with it and sleeping with it in his chambers. He would always keep it on his person.

Rhaenys said it was an omen, an auspicious one and he jested that perhaps they may one day hatch it.

He dreamt of dragons, now.

Out of Dragonstone leagues away at sea, Jaehaerys looked onto the horizon aboard Balerion and readied himself for the battles to be fought against his enemies.

AN: Shortest chapter, I wanna kind of maintain a single PoV per chapter but most likely I'll revert back to how I usually write with two to four POVs per chapter. I am also working on the update for Hour of the Wolf so be on the lookout as potential updates for Long May They Reign, Our Tears will Fall Like Rain, and A Storm is Coming is also on the way too.

Now explanation the Wiki of Ice and Fire said that Aerys II tried hatching eggs too by scouring the island of Dragonstone and failed to do anything with them so maybe they missed one and indeed they did.
