My Mesmerizing Markswoman

"Alright, guys. Keep on task, and everything will be over soon. Just keep going for about another hundred feet, and you will come across the bridge. Cross it, and you all finish the test." A beautiful voice said through her scroll. Said voice belonged to a mesmerizing girl using her rifle to overlook Beacon's fresh initiates.

'Okay. You got us covered, right?' A voice nervously asked.

"Yes. I got you covered." The beautiful voice answered with a sigh before closing her scroll. "I could use a vacation. I bet this is what the teachers had to put up when they taught us."

"Here. This should help." I said, walking over to her and placing her favorite drink next to her.

"Thanks, Jaune." She said, moving away from her rifle to look at me. Smiling, I gazed upon my girlfriend, May Zedong, before moving to sit next to her on the edge of the cliff we were on that oversaw the Emerald Forest before taking a sip of my drink. "I needed that."

"How are the initiates doing?" I asked, setting down my drink before wrapping my hand around hers.

"Fine for the most part. But if Ozpin accepts them into Beacon, they'll need to work on their situational awareness." May answered, setting down her drink before leaning into my side and laying her head on my shoulder.

"Well, there are still learning and have time to grow. I'm sure Ms. Goodwitch will help them."

"Or scare them away. I know some Shade students who would turn tail as soon as they saw how furious she could be toward students."

"You don't know the half of it, May." I said, chuckling before turning to kiss her on the lips. We stayed like that for a few moments and only separated when our bodies demanded air.

"True. But now I can hear all the adventures you had with your team and Team Rwby that summoned the wrath of Goodwitch." May chuckled while I rolled my eyes.

"Another time." I said as we moved in for another kiss. But before our lips could connect, May's scroll vibrated, causing us to sigh.

"I better get that." She said, opening her scroll and answering the call. "Yes?"

'Hello, Miss. Zedong. We reached the temple. Thanks for watching over us.' One of the initiates said.

"Alright. Now, report back to Beacon and await further instructions from Ozpin or Glynda."

'Okay. Thanks again for the help.'

"Well, they seem nice." I said, smiling. It was rare for any huntsmen-in-training to be friendly to their instructors. They were frequently hostile or felt they could get by on their superior skill. But, they were still teenagers and learning. It was the same for my team and Team Rwby, with some exceptions like Pyrrha.

"They are, which I'm glad. I don't want another repeat like last week." May agreed before letting out a yawn. Typically, the initiation would only last a few hours at most. However, that all changed when Ozpin discovered the version of the initiation process he had been using was outdated. Now, the tests last upwards of six hours at best, and at worst, they can last nearly nine hours. And instead of faculty watching over the exam, second and third-year students would. "Wow, I'm tired."

"Want to head back to our dorm?"

"Not yet. It's only seven, and we don't have anything scheduled for tomorrow."

"So, what do you want to do?"

"Well, there is the tree behind us. We could sit at its base and just spend time together. After all, it is a beautiful evening, and I don't want to waste it by being inside." May answered with a light blush.

"Alright." I said, smiling. We got up, and I grabbed our drinks while May stored her rifle before making our way to the base of the tree. We then finished our drinks before cuddling together as we watched the sunset. Yet, it wasn't long before we started passionately kissing again.

It was honestly surreal that I was in a relationship with May. One thing people always say when it comes to love is that opposites attract. Yet, May and I were the furthest from a good example of that. We shared a lot of similarities. Honestly, someone could count all our differences on both their hands alone, excluding the obvious differences. Some students even joked that May was a long-lost sister of mine because of how many similarities we have.

"I miss this." I said as we separated and cuddled even closer.

"Same." May agreed as we turned to look at the sunset. It was quiet for a moment before she spoke again. "Remember how we met?"

"Yes. I remember. I finally decided to ask you why you were stalking me." I answered, chuckling as May blushed hard.

"I was not stalking you. I was merely observing you from a distance so I could gather information for my teammates."

"So, stalking." May rolled her eyes before grabbing her drink and taking a sip.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night."

"That would be you, May." I said before hugging her.

There are many ways a couple might describe the first time they met. Some would say it was magical; others would say it was life-changing. A few might be bold and admit it was awkward beyond belief. The first time May and I met would undoubtedly fall into the awkward group. And our friends and teammates would agree.

It was during the Vytel Festival when we first met. I was hanging out with my team while Team Rwby had to return to Beacon to serve their detention with Ms. Goodwitch for the mess they made. At one point during the day, we decided to head to one of the stands to grab something to eat. But instead of grabbing something from one of the nearby stands, Nora insisted we visit the one on the opposite end of the festival grounds. Unfortunately, as we made our way through the crowds of people, we got separated. I was initially annoyed as I didn't like to be in large groups for extended periods of time. It was not because I had enochlophobia; I just preferred to stay away from them. But there was a silver lining to all this. I could finally try to find out what or who was following me. All day since my team and I had left Beacon to come to Vale; I felt that someone was watching and following me. It took me a while, but I eventually found the culprit.

But anyone who even somewhat knew May or me would know how our first meeting went. While I tried to enter May's hiding place, she tried to exit. What happened afterward was all a blur as it happened so fast. All we knew was that we somehow ended up on the floor with May on top. We both blushed hard while I was silently thankful Yang wasn't there to tease us. After a few awkward apologies, we helped each other up. Once we managed to compose ourselves, I asked her why she was stalking me. It took her a moment to answer but what May said surprised me.

She didn't know.

Her answer honestly surprised me. I was expecting her to make up an excuse about how she thought I was about to hurt someone or something like that. Yet that was not the case. And while I wasn't an expert liar by any means, my sister Saphron could attest to that; I could quickly tell when someone was lying. But May wasn't. She honestly didn't know why she was following me and watching my every move. When I heard her answer, we felt the air become tense. Unsure of what to do next, we simply exchanged names before going our separate ways. And after that awkward meeting, we did not expect to see each other again.

"You know, while I never liked Ozpin, I am glad he accepted my headmaster's proposal." May said.

"Yeah, I'm glad to." I agreed.

After our first meeting, we thought we would never see each other again. However, to our surprise, after the Vytel Festival, our headmasters revealed something none of us were expecting. Apparently, the headmaster of each Academy had recently agreed on a proposal that Ironwood put forth. And it was to have two teams, each one from separate schools, work together for the rest of the year. Naturally, everyone was shocked at the news and curious about which team they will work with for the year. Yet, my shock and May's continued to grow when we learned that our teams would be working together. And as one might guess, our reunion was beyond awkward, but we agreed quickly to forget our first impromptu meeting and start anew.

Unfortunately, while May and I got along, primarily because of our awkward first experience and not wanting a repeat, we could not say the same for our teams. Naturally, no one got along because of their clashing perspectives, and they argued constantly. It got so bad that May's leader, Brawnz, and I had to sign up our teams for counseling. Although I will admit that I wasn't expecting Brawnz to sign his team up, but he explained that he also wanted the teams to get along and was tired of the bickering. Luckily, after a few sessions, the teams finally got along and started working together. Now, if someone else were to see us working together, they wouldn't be able to tell that we are two separate teams and not one.

"But I'm also glad for another reason." May softly said. Smiling, I kissed her forehead before leaning into her.

Despite our teams finally working together peacefully, it was still a rocky road. The reason for it was simple. We all had vastly different fighting styles that often led us to get into each other's way accidentally. However, after about our third mission together and nearly having Roy's saws cut my head off, I decided to see how May was doing since I hadn't seen her the entire day. It took some effort to find where she was, but after about ten minutes, I finally found her. And just like with Roy, May nearly took my head off with a shot from her rifle. Had I not already had my shield out, I would not be standing here today.

Apparently, as May later explained, whenever she with her team on a mission, she would be alone for the entire trip. So naturally, upon hearing footsteps, she immediately thought I was an enemy trying to sneak up on her. But she quickly and sheepishly apologized once she realized I wasn't an enemy. I quickly waved it off and told her it was alright and that I understood. However, internally, I was upset. No one should ever be alone, especially someone as valuable of a teammate as May, who keeps us safe from hazards we don't see. So I offered to stay by her side for the rest of the mission.

She seemed hesitant at first, showing that she was accustomed to being alone, but agreed after a moment. And from that day forward, I grew to appreciate how much patience snipers had as it was the second most boring thing I had done to date. To think that May had to do this every time she had to go out with her team left me stunned. And the first time I stayed with May while she provided overwatch was as tense and awkward as when we met at the Vytel Festival. As much as I wanted to relieve the boredom by doing ANYTHING, I knew I couldn't; otherwise, I would give us away.

"Do we have a mission coming up soon?" May asked.

"Yes, but it's nothing major. We have to help some Atlas Soldiers escort some resources to an outpost not that far from here." I answered.

"What are they expecting?"

"Not much. The very most they say we might encounter are some young Beowolves."

"Oh, that's not too bad. Care to join me in providing overwatch? I could use a spotter."

"Of course." I answered, smiling. "And this time, I won't forget to make your favorite snacks or drinks."

"You better not." May warned, yet she laughed a second later, with me joining her right after.

While the first few times I joined May in helping her keep the others safe were incredibly dull, I soon began to enjoy it. And after a couple of missions, I started to look forward to the next time we would meet in the field. It certainly was a nice change of pace from how chaotic it is when I spend time with my team or family. Although, I did make sure to bring some drinks and books to keep me occupied that also wouldn't give us away. While May wasn't too keen on this initially, she eventually relented and, as she said herself, looked forward to what I would bring next time.

This continued for the next couple of months, where we quickly fell into a routine each time we met. May would find a suitable spot to give us overwatch while I helped out the others on the frontline. After ensuring they could handle themselves or didn't need my semblance, I would make my way over to May to act as her spotter and companion. By this point, we had gotten pretty close as friends, although not as close as Nora and Ren. And even on occasion, we would meet up and hang out whenever we had some free time or could get away from our teammates. It was nice. However, the more I spent time with her, the more I wanted to ask her something.

"Speaking of not forgetting." May said. "Where are we going for our next date?"

"I got us a reservation for the comic convention that's happening the weekend. Then we'd head to the new pizzeria that recently opened." I answered. Like Pyrrha, May never liked fancy places like Vale's Fine Dining restaurant. But like me, May always enjoyed going to conventions followed by eating at some of the local restaurants.

After a couple of weeks of continuing this trend of first helping out the others before going to stay with May, I began to feel different about her. Initially, I didn't know what this feeling was. But after seeing Weiss happy in the arms of Neptune and Blake and Yang going out on a date, I realized what it was. I had fallen for May. And it wasn't like the supposed 'crush' I had on Weiss during the beginning of the school year. No. I had a real crush on her.

However, unlike when I crushed on Wiess, I could never work up the courage to ask May out. And anyone who knew my past attempts to woo Weiss would know I was terrible at asking people out. I even contemplated asking Ren and Sun for advice. But before I could, Nolan came to me and gave me what I needed.

"Remember our first date?" May asked.

"Of course." I answered.

"Remember how long you took to psych yourself up, only for me to ask when you are going to ask me out?" May asked, smirking.

"Yes." I answered, rolling my eyes. "I'm still surprised how quickly you picked up on it."

"Hey, sniper here. I have to be good at picking up the littlest of things."

After Nolan gave me the much-needed advice, I went back to my team's dorm to start preparing myself to ask May out. However, not even ten minutes after I returned, I heard someone knocking on the door. And to my surprise, it was May who was smiling for some reason. She didn't tell me why she was happy and only asked if she could enter. Trying not to stutter, I answered, "Of course," before stepping to the side. We then started talking about anything that crossed our minds while I tried to look busy as I didn't want to give anything away or look like a buffoon. Yet, I became confused when May started laughing out of nowhere.

Naturally, I turned to her and asked what was funny. But all I got in answer was her laughing louder. After a few moments, May finally calmed down enough to be able to talk again. Yet, instead of answering my question, she brazenly asked when I would stop beating around the bush and ask her out. As anyone could guess, I was not prepared for this and became shocked and started stuttering like a fish out of water. My expression caused May to laugh again. This time she had to hold her sides as they began to hurt. But once she recovered, she looked me straight in the eye, her beautiful smile never leaving her face, and asked, "Well?" I had to take a few deep breaths to calm myself as I was not expecting this, not in a million years. Yet, after the third breath, I asked May out. As you probably already know the answer, she said yes, and we went out on our first date the next day.

From that point, everything just fell into place. The first date was kind of awkward, but not nearly as much as our first encounter at the Vytel Festival. Yet, that made it more memorable for us. On the second date, everything went smoothly, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending the day together. We didn't even mind the detention Glynda gave us for being out past curfew. However, it was the third date that changed everything for the better. After we finished eating at a restaurant May had been wanting to try for a while, we decided to take a stroll through the nearby park. Since it was nighttime, there was hardly anybody else there. After a bit of walking, we sat on one of the benches to take a small break. We then talked a bit about our families and some of the more personal aspects of our lives.

However, at one point, while I was discussing what life was like living with seven sisters, May and I eventually locked eyes. Well, technically, my eyes locked onto May's right eye as her beanie still covered her left eye. Almost as if something was controlling us, we leaned in and briefly kissed each other before pulling apart. However, it was clear as day that we both wanted more. But before we did so, I reached up and asked if it was alright if I could take her beanie off. Without hesitation, she nodded, and I took it off. We gazed at each other before leaning and sealing our lips together in a searing kiss that lasted a full minute. And as we separated while catching our breath, we kept our gazes locked before leaning and having our foreheads touch. At that moment, as if the universe was telling us directly, we knew we were meant for each other. Some might consider that ridiculous, especially since we are still barely young adults. Yet, as we stared into each other's eyes, we would argue otherwise. And as the days passed, we genuinely fell in love with each other and could feel it growing stronger daily.

"Well, the sun is down. We better head back to our dorm." May said, snapping me from my thoughts. Turning toward the horizon, I saw that the sun had set entirely, and the moon was now rising slowly.

"Yeah. Otherwise, Glynda will give us detention again." I said as we got up. We stretched a bit before gathering all our things and packing them up.

"Ready?" May asked, smiling while grabbing my hand. Smiling, I nodded before kissing her on the lips. We then walked back to our dorm, relishing in each other's warmth while preparing ourselves for the teasing that our teammates, specifically Yang, would send our way.

Doing something similar for most Rwby girls. Not sure who to use next. Possibly Neo, Arslan, or Velvet.

Enochlophobia: A fear of crowds. It's closely related to agoraphobia (a fear of places or situations) and ochlophobia (a fear of mob-like crowds).
