Meanwhile on the other side of town
A mildly panicked Amy called the police station. Everyone down at the station knew about Travis & Amy and how much Travis trusted her. Amy attempted to casually ask Maria where Travis was headed giving the rather weak excuse that they were supposed to meet up and that Travis neglected to give the location. Maria said she didn't know for sure but the best bet would be the crime scene on the south side of town and gave her the directions to it. Hopping in her Subaru, she sets out to track her boyfriend down.
Meantime at the warehouse
Upon hearing the crash, Travis sprinted over to the decrepit building. Reaching for his holster, he yells out "Who are you? Put your hands up and come out slowly, this is police and this is an active crime scene" As he approached the entrance, he slowly entered, scanning the building for whatever or whoever made that noise. Bang! Bang! Shots ring out. Travis grabs his side as blood pours out, soaking his shirt and tickling down his pants. He grabs his phone and frantically calls for reinforcements and medical assistance. He kicks himself for going alone and not informing anyone where he was headed. What was he thinking? He knew better than that. He tried to stop the bleeding but he was losing a lot of blood & all he could do is wait for help to arrive. Soon after Amy pulls up to the abandoned warehouse and sees Travis's car parked out front. She yells his name and from inside she hears him call out for help. She races inside as her heart sinks to her stomach. What could have possibly happened Amy couldn't let her imagination get the best of her. Sometime during all chaos, the suspect had fled the scene possibly because he thought Travis was dead and the police were on the way or perhaps because he too had been injured in the firefight. Rushing into the entrance, she could vaguely see Travis propped up against the wall in the corner. Stunned by the amount of blood, she was trying to be strong but her eyes welled up with tears as she watched the man she loved more than anything in the world lose consciousness. Amy knelt beside him trying to see if there was anything she could do. [Amy] Travis, Travis, it's Amy, everything is going to be okay" She picked up her phone call 911 but his hand touched hers to stop her as he said he already had her and they were on their way. His eyes were barely open he spoke - Amy, I have something I need to tell you. I can't imagine my life without you and never want to - Travis coughed and tried to catch his breath as Amy tried to interrupt him. Softly, he took her hand and laid it on his chest, and wiped away the tears that were streaming down her cheeks. Amy, you are everything to me - [Amy stops him] I know, and everything is going to be okay; her voice cracking with emotion. [Amy] Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere and neither are you, you hear me. She reached out and caressed his face, whispering it's all going to be okay, it's all gonna be okay. What happened next was all a blur with the wail of sirens and bustle of EMT personnel rushing Travis to the hospital.
Time seemed to move in slow motion as Amy waited in the hospital lobby. The clock's tick echoed in the quiet room. How long had been? It felt like an eternity even her dad was here to comfort her. There was nothing he could do or either of them for that matter, but wait and hope.
