Maya Hart may have been a rebellious 14 years old teenage girl. But when it comes to her BFF and sister, Riley Matthews, she is and always has been protective of her since Riley doesn't have any older siblings, except Riley's Uncle Josh, who was like a big brother figure to Riley and Auggie. Anyway Maya woke up due to having a sisterly instinct that she should go check on Riley. So she gets up from her bed and opens her window, carefully climbs out of her window and walks over to Riley's bedroom window and opens it, climbing through it and walks over to her bed. "Riley?" She whispered.
She saw Riley crying in her sleep.
"Riles." Maya whispered, gently shaking her younger friend's arm. "Hey. Riley, wake up."
Riley shot up fast with tears streaming down her face.
"Hey, are you ok?" She asked her.
Riley shook her head.
"What happened? Did you have a bad dream?" Maya asked.
Riley nods her head.
"Come here kid." Maya said getting up and sat down next to Riley.
She held Riley in her arms while Riley just cried slightly in her arms.
"Wanna tell me what the nightmare was about?" Maya asked.
Riley sniffs and sits up a little while Maya still has her arm around her.
"I had a nightmare that you made new friends who were way cooler than me and you ditched me for them." Riley explains.
Maya felt her heart break.
"Aw, Riles…" She spoke softly. "You know very well that could never ever happen." Maya assured her.
Riley looks up at her.
"Really?" She asked.
"Yes, you're my best friend and nobody can change that." She tells her.
Riley smiles at her.
"Thanks Maya." She says.
Maya smiled back.
"No problem, kid." She answers. "Now I gotta go before my mom and Shawn start to worry that I'm gone."
They both laughed quietly.
"You know you can call Shawn, "Dad"." Riley told her.
Maya smiled.
"I know." She replies.
They hugged.
"You're gonna be ok?" Maya asked.
Riley nods her head.
"Yeah, cause I know you'll never leave me." She smiled.
"You got it, kid." Maya said, going to the window. "See you later, Riles."
"Bye Maya." Riley responded as Maya climbed out of her bedroom window.
Riley laid back down, feeling better and happy again. She can ALWAYS count on her BFF who is like a big sister to her.
