NOTES: I was thinking about this story, so I decided to write it.

Hammersley left port for a four week patrol and the crew talked about what they did on their two week shore leave. Everyone listened to what others said about their shore leave. Charge spent it with Jamie and Jessica, his two kids.
Two dads played poker and bragged about how much money he won from the games. RO didn't go anywhere. Swain spent it with his family as well as did a medic course which lasted for a week. Dutchy was dating different women.
Mike went away to a tropical island for two weeks. Kate spent it going over to Tahiti.
Bird noticed when Mike and Kate said where they went for their holiday, they were looking at each other while smiling then turned back to the crew. Bird clicked on that they both went to Tahiti together.
Ryan, he was in hospital giving bone marrow to Stewart, his father, as well spent time with his mum.
"Bird what did you do on your shore leave?" dutchy asked.
"Besides duty shift i went down to Melbourne to cousin wedding"
"You were one of the bridesmaids," Kate said.
"Yes"
"Any photos?" Two dads asked.
"Yes"
"Can we see them" Dutchy asked with a smile
"Later, but i can share with you what happened two days ago when i was returning back home, this is if any one you are interested" they all were interested.
"ok, this woman i encountered, she was crazy… initial"
Two days earlier.
Bird arrived at the airport on time, she went up to the counter to sort her bag and ticket out. Once done she walked over to one of four different cafes where she got herself a drink and a muffin. Then she walked over to a table where she sat down with her food and drink. She got a first aid book out of her bag. The one that Swain got for her.
She started reading it when she heard a loud voice coming from the counter where she got her ticket from. "What do you mean there are no more seats?" she heard a loud voice.
She looked over to where she saw a woman yelling at the staff about the ticket. "No, I book for first class, not economy class." she thumped her hand on the counter.
"No, that's good enough, I book for first class so give it to me now." Bird notices a man who is with her trying to calm her down.
Then a minute later they walk towards the cafe where Bird is. Bird returns to her reading when she hears the angry woman talk to the man that is with her. "I can't believe that the travel agent screwed up our ticket, i'm going to sue that agency when we return home"
"Honey, it must have been a mistake. Look let us get a drink then wait for our flight to Cairn, ok"
"ok"
An hour later Bird and other passengers were walking onto the plane when she noticed the angry women, just two people in front of her waiting to get on board since the air hostess was helping to let passengers know where their seats were.
When it came to the woman and her husband, Bird noticed them wearing wedding rings. The air hostess let them know where their seats are then the next passenger. When Bird was told which aisle her seat was she walked over to it.
She noticed the same seating at the couple and she got the window seat. Bird went to put her bag up in the glove department which was above the seats when her wallet fell out of her bag and onto the floor. The air hostess notices it and picks it up and turns it around to close it when she notices it has a navy ID card inside. She closed it.
"Excuse me ma'am you drop this" bird turns to the stewiest.
"Oh thank you ma'am"
"You're welcome, enjoy your flight" she said smiling at bird then walked away.
Bird put her wallet in her bag and made sure it was closed. When done she looked at the couple. "Excuse me sir, ma'am, may i get pass"
"Sure" the man said as she stood up and moved out of the aisle seat.
"Excuse me ma'am, i need to get pass you"
"you should have gotten on sooner" she said then returned back to her magazine.
"Karen don't be rude, let her get to her seat"
"fine" she said in a tone and got out of her seat.
"thank you ma'am" then bird stepped ford and sat in her seat then Karen did then her husband.
Twenty minutes later they all heard over the PA system "Ladies and gentleman, please listen to the instructions just in case of any emergency" everyone watched and listened to the air hostess for a few minutes then they went to their seats. Few minutes later they were in the air.
When bird needed to use the loo "Excuse me i need to use the loo"
"OH, sure" the guy stood up then he pulled his wife out of her seat since she wasn't going to move.
"thank you" Bird went to use the loo then returned.
The guy stood up but Karen wouldn't. "Excuse me ma'am, I would like to return to my seat," Bird said.
"No, go and sit somewhere else"
"Karen get up"
"No, she should have gone to the loo before boarding the plane"
"Is there a problem here?" one of the air hostess asked.
"Karen, get up and let this young lady sit in her seat." Bird turned to the air hostess.
"This lady won't let me return to my seat, ma'am," Bird said.
"Ma'am can you please let this young lady return to her seat"
"No she can go and sit somewhere else"
"Karen get up now" the husband said angrily
"why should i, she can go and find another seat to sit" then she returns back to her book. the husband turn to Bird and the air hostess
"sorry about that, she been angry ever since she found out that the travel agency book the wrong seats"
"I'll be right back" the air hostess walked towards the front of the plane since it was not the first time that Karen had been causing problems.
"Karen, I can't believe how rude you are to the staff and this young lady who has more manners than what you got" then he turned to bird. "i'm sorry about my wife"
"you the one who shouldn't apologize for your wife attitude and actions sir"
"I know, i hope the air hostess can find you another seat"
"thank you"
"So you going to Cairns as well"
"Returning back home"
"Really, family there"
"No i work up there, been there for fifteen months"

"Yeah i do, it has it moments"
"I noticed you reading a first aid book"
"Yeah i wanted to become a medic"
"Good for you and good luck"
"thank you" then the air hostess returned.
"Excuse me ma'am, I got some good news, there is a free seat up in first class, the captain said for me to take you there free of charge" The air hostess said.
"What, there's a free seat in first class, I'll take it" Karen said as she stood up.
"I'm sorry ma'am, it's not for you. it for this young lady here, let me help you with your bag"
"thank you ma'am"
"What, no, I deserve that seat, if you don't give me that seat… " she said yelling but was cut off by her husband.
"Karen shut up, This young lady deserve it after the way you treated her and you can complain and sulk all you like and you are not going to sue any one and stop being a spoiled brat cause you can't get everything you want" her husband said then help the air hostess get the bag for bird since he was over six feet tall.
"Here her go" he said passing it to bird then he reach over and grab bird smaller bag and book and pass them to her
"thank you sir"
"That seat should be mine," Karen muttered but people heard her.
"Ma'am this young lady deserves it more than you. She was polite to you and your husband" then she turned to Bird
"This way" they walked a few steps when they and the others heard.
"She knows to respect her elders," Karen said. the air hostiest turn to Karen giving her not happy look
"You should respect her more ma'am not because she is younger than you, this young lady is also serving in the armed forces. So you should have respect for every one who serves in the armed forces like this young lady here. She is serving our country to protect it and you disrespected her" the air hostess said loudly.
"You said you're training to become a medic," the husband said.
"I am sir, i'm in the navy"
"Oh, so you on one of the boats up there"
"Yes sir, i serve on the HMAS Hammersley"
"Well thank you for your services"
"Thank you sir," Bird said.
Then she follows the stewiest to first class. "Here you go ma'am" once they reach the seat.
"thank you one question, how did you know i was in the navy?"
"Carol, she picked up your wallet when it was open and saw your navy ID. She told me since i was doing your side of the plane"
"Oh, ok." they sorted out bird bags then she sat down
"would you like a drink and a muffin"
"Yes thank you, i'll have an orange juice thanks you"
"i'll let the air hostess know, enjoy your flight"
"thank you ma'am" Bird was able to return and carry on reading the book.
When the plane landed, they let first class passengers off first. Bird waited to let everyone go first then she followed them when she could hear a couple of staff members trying to stop Karen from leaving the plane with the first class passengers.
Bird stopped in shock when she saw Karen hitting one of the air hostesses and pushing the other one into the seats causing the air hostess to land on top of the passengers. Karen's husband tried to stop her when she hit him while yelling at him. Then she turned and ran towards another air hostess whom Karen pushed her out of the way.
"Get out of my way" Karen said yelling at bird who stop her from getting pass
"No, you wait like everyone else"
"no one tells me what to do"
She went to hit the bird, only for her to stop Karen, then she went to push the bird out of the way when Bird grabbed her arm then managed to kick her leg around to the back of Karen kicking her legs out from under her. when Karen was on the floor.
Bird managed to get her onto her stomach and both hands behind Karen while her knee was in Karen's back. Karen yells and screams. When security arrived they put cuffs on Karen then Bird got up then the security pulled Karen to her feet. and took her off the plane while still yelling and screaming. Then the passengers started clapping. Bird look at them all while trying not to blush.
"That was some move you did on that woman" an eldery woman said.
"Navy training ma'am"
"the navy must be proud of having you"
"Yes ma'am they are" Bird turns around to see the air hostess pass her, her bags.
"thank you for taking that woman down and for your services"
"Your welcome ma'am" Bird turns and walks off the plane.
Present
"I gave my statement to the police. the woman is being charged for the assaulted on four air hostess and going to be ban from flying that airline for life for what she done"
"That Karen must be crazy and initial, I feel sorry for the husband having to marry someone like her," RO said.
"That is true, why would anyone marry someone like that Karen?" two dads said.
"Love, money, who knows" Kate said
"How did you feel about bringing down Karen" dutchy asked.
"I knew she had to stop and I remember our training sessions Dutchy, they sure paid off" Bird said smiling
"that it has, i'm proud of you chicken legs," he gives her a hug.
"Thanks Dutchy" She said, smiling.
Bird found out that Karen was found guilty for the assault on the four air hostesses and on her. She served six months in prison and was banned for life on virgin air after what she did.
the husband devorice her six months after what happen that day on the plane and the way she treated bird. Since his sister and brother inlaw are in the Australian air force themselves. Bird did show the crew photos from her cousin's wedding. On the next shore leave, Dutchy and bird carry on with firearms and martial arts training.
