Here's a little something I came up with to celebrate Elizabeth Gillies's coming into this world.
Ding dong.
"Can you please get the door Lukas?" Tawny asked her husband.
"Sure thing baby cakes."
Tawny looked up from their son's crib, holding him gently while giving Lukas a raised eyebrow "What have I told you about pet names?"
"Um, not to use them while Matt's around?"
"Right ... Because?"
"We don't want him to one of them to be his first word?"
"Good boy." Tawny said, giving her husband a peck on the cheek "But in all seriousness, answer the door while I feed our son."
"Fine, fine." He relented before getting an eye full of his wife's chest being released "Yowzaa!"
"Oh as if you haven't seen them before." She said teasingly before Matt began to suck on the left one.
Ding dong.
The sound of the doorbell broke the spell so to speak and Lukas reluctantly walked away from the nursery to make his way towards the front door.
The moment he was about to open it, he saw that the doorknob was jingling erratically, as if someone was trying to break in but Lukas knew better.
"Took a little too long to answer the door." He thought "Boy am I going to get it now."
Lukas took a deep breath before he opened the door.
"ABOUT DAMN TIME!" Jade bellowed out madly "WHAT THE HELL TOOK YOU SO LONG?!"
"Yell louder baby." Tori said sarcastically, massaging her ringing ear "I think there were people in Australia who didn't hear you."
But Jade didn't even reply, she instead ran up the stairs.
"Where's my grandson?!"
Lukas stared at her other mother-in-law, more accurately the little wrapped box in her hands.
"A little something for my son eh?" He asked with a grin.
Tori grinned back "As a matter of fact? Yeah, Jade has been up since six A.M, you should have seen her, it was so cute, she was more excited seeing our first grandchild turn one... Just don't tell her I said that, she would you know... Kill me."
"My lips are sealed."
"Good."
"Out of the way people!" Tony ordered "Birthday cake coming through!"
The boy went past his mama and brother in law, careful to not let the cake he baked drop to the ground, it was by no meant a simply cake like his sister had requested, if anything it was over the top, a two stories Mickey Mouse cake with a lot of frosting that was bound to give anybody diabetes.
That wasn't the least surprising for anyone seeing as Anthony tended to over-achieve in his cooking, what was surprising was the reason why he was a perfectionist right in front of him.
"Uh, hi?" Lukas asked unsurely.
"Hi, I'm Emily, Tony's classmate and rival!" The blonde introduced herself "Just came along to see how the guy cooked the birthday cake, I'm sure it will be... appealing to the eyes."
The man raised an eyebrow, the girl not caring to say anything more so she went after Anthony, Lukas gave the Half-Latina a "What was that about?" sort of look, the older woman shrugs "Those two when it comes to cooking are in a world of their own."
"That doesn't explain why she's here."
"I think they like each other." Tori said with a wink.
"Ah, gotcha."
Hey Tony?" Lukas asked loudly "Is she your girlfriend?"
"Why must everyone ask that?!" Anthony said irritated "She's NOT my girlfriend."
"Nice." Emily said critically "Are you ashamed to be seen with me now?"
"No... No, that's not it!" He said, trying to save face "I think you're pretty it's just..."
"Oh... Just pretty am I?"
"Water... I need water." Anthony chocked, wobbling away into the kitchen.
Emily smirked victoriously at making her friend loose his composure. "Too easy."
Tori shook her head sadly "Seriously, those two couldn't be more like Jade and I were when we started dating."
Meanwhile on the second floor of the house, Jade went towards the third door to the right, kicked it open, giving her youngest daughter a jump scare before calming down.
"MOM!" Tawny hissed "Don't do that! You're going to scare Matt!"
At the mention of her grandson, Jade had the decency to look sheepish "Sorry sweetie."
"It's all right." She said adjusting on her seat to get comfortable enough to feed her baby. "Not that I'm complaining, but why are you here?"
"Can't a mother visit her daughter and grandson?"
"I mean, Matt's party starts at five and it..." Tawny checked the clock on the wall "One O'clock."
"So we're a little earlier." Jade said dismissively "So what? All that matters is that we get to spend the day with Matt on his special day."
"It's your special day too mom." Tawny reminded her with a smile "Happy birthday."
"Screw my birthday!" The former Goth said "We can celebrate that another time like tomorrow, next week, next month, next year! I don't care! Today is all about my grandson, he only turns a year old once!"
"Whatever you say mom." Tawny replied cheekily "I still got you a present."
"And you didn't get you son one?" Jade asked, shaking her head disapprovingly.
"Kinda hard to, considering you and mama already bought everything in the toy store."
"Not everything."
"The manager of Toy's R Us retired already!" Tawny pointed out "And he's only twenty seven!"
"So, I want to spoil little Matty." Jade said, affectionately caressing her grandson's bald head "Is that a crime now?"
"I think you and mama are going a little overboard with your grand-parenting."
But before Jade could say anything, another voice interrupted them.
"A-HA!" Cat yells accusingly "I knew you'd be here!"
"Damn, I expected you to waste the afternoon at Funk E. Fester's." Jade cursed.
"Well joke's on you Jadey!" Cat said with a lopsided smile "I just bought the place!"
"And what is a year old supposed to be doing at Funk E. Fester's?" Tawny asked curiously.
"There are tons of pretty pool balls." The former redhead said as if it was obvious.
"Don't you mean a ball pit?"
"Why? What did I say?"
Suddenly Jade got an idea, smirking evilly she grabbed a jingling ball from the floor and held it over her friend just out of reach"Hey Caaaaaaat... Look what I have."
Said woman looked at the ball, unimpressed "I'm not falling for that Jadey." She said poking her in the chest.
"Falling for what Cat?" The brunette asked innocently "It's just a very nice ball."
"Mom... please don't."
"Full of delicious bibble on the inside."
Cat froze "You're lying!"
"Are you willing to take that risk?"
"Uh-huh!"
"Ok then, guess you wouldn't mind if I..."
"GIMME THAT BALL!"
"You want the ball Cat?" Jade asked tauntingly " Do you, huh? huh?"
Suddenly for reasons completely unknown to anyone other than Cat, she got on all fours and barked, eyeing the´bibble´ just like a dog would to a reward after a trick.
"Wish I could say this is the first time I seen your grandma acting like this buddy, but truth of the matter is... It's not." Tawny cooed gently to her son. "Not by a long shot."
Cat began to pant loudly, her tongue out salivating in anticipation, her eyes never leaving her "treat."
Eventually Jade threw the ball out the door "Got get it girl!"
Cat barked once more before scurrying out the room after the toy ball.
"Arf! Arf!"
... Still on all fours.
As soon as the redhead left the room, Jade locked the door, clapping her hands at a job well done.
"I can always count on Cat's short attention, it's just like having a pet ." Jade commented with a smirk "Now, gimme my grandson, I want to hold him."
"As soon as I stop feeding him mom."
The moment Tawny stopped talking, Matt opened his eyes lazily, the first thing he noticed was that someone other than his mother was around, he cooed as if to say "hello."
An action Jade loved dearly "Ohhh... Come here you little heart eater."
"Heart eater?"
"Well, he got my heart." The former Goth answered, holding her grandson in her arms, staring at him lovingly.
"Um... Very uh... Creative mom." Tawny said "Disturbing but creative."
Meanwhile the toy ball made it to the end of the hallway, Cat didn't waste any time and immediately began to chew on it like an actual dog.
"Hey... Wait a minute." She said suspiciously "... When did the ground became so close?"
She shrugs before once more continuing to chew the jingling ball.
Soon enough Tori needed to go to the restroom and was (sorta) surprised to see her friend on all fours assaulting a toy ball.
"One of these days Jade has to learn to share our grandson with Cat and Robbie." The Half-Latina thought annoyed.
"Let me guess." Tori said "Jade told you there was bibble in there?"
"Arf!"
"I'll take that as a yes." Tori groaned "Cat, you felled for the oldest trick in the book... Again."
Realizing she's been had; Cat dropped the ball, sadly whimpering at the thought of once more being deprived of her favorite candy.
"Aw don't be blue." The Half-Latina said petting her friend's head "Tony made cake for everyone! You like his cooking, don't you?"
"Arf Arf!" Cat barked once more, this time licking Tori's face like an affectionate dog.
"Down girl." the brunette said between giggles.
"HEY!"
Both women jumped at the sound of a very familiar, angry voice.
"TONGUE OFF MY WIFE!" Jade bellowed out.
Cat howled in fear as she ran away from the very angry pale madwoman, Tori just shook her head.
"Well, this is a good a time as any to see my grandson."
"Happy Birthday to you!" The whole family was singing to Matt, not that he understood what was going on, he was amused all the same since he was clapping excitedly as the adults just kept singing.
Jade and Cat of course tried to sing the loudest as they both wanted their grandson's attention, while Tori and Robbie were having a hard time to not laugh at their respective spouses silliness.
Danielle kept taking pictures of her nephew while her wife stared at the baby longingly hoping to one day have a baby of their own.
Tony and Emily were giving everyone cake.
Tawny gave her son a little bit of it, only for the baby to start playing with it and making a mess on the way, everyone laughed at the "cuteness" of the situation, Tori of course couldn't resist and took a picture of Matt covered in blue frosting.
After a few hours everyone settled down, most noticeably because the one year old began to yawn.
"Guess I better get this space ranger off to bed." Tawny said, getting her son into the Buzz lightyear both his grandmother had gotten him.
"I'll do it!" Jade offered.
"No! let me!" Cat protested "It's no fair that you got to hold him most of the day!"
"Hey it's my birthday!" The former Goth pointed out "Which means I get to put him to bed!"
"Well if I remember correctly baby, you said today was all about our precious little grandson." Tori said coyly "And that we could celebrate your birthday some other time."
Jade glared at her wife "Don't start with me Vega."
Tawny rolled her eyes in mock surrender "Fine mom, take him to his crib."
"HA!"
"Oh Phooey!" Cat sat on the couch in defeat.
"Come here you little heart stealer." The thespian held her grandson as she took him to the nursery, being careful to not trip as she held someone very important in her arms. "You know Matty, arguing takes a lot out of me."
Jade tenderly put him on his crib "I hope you stay little and cute for as long as possible."
She gave her grandchild a big kiss on the cheek before turning on the night light and closing the door.
"Jadey."
Matt went to sleep soundlessly.
His grandma greeted him on his dreams.
Happy birthday to the one and only Elizabeth Gillies/Jade West.
As you guys might remember, in an earlier chapter I wrote that Matt shares his birthday with his "scary grandma Jade" that was intentionally done to show just how close he is to his grandma even at an early age, making "Jadey" his first word only adds to the bond between grandmother and grandchild, but alas too bad no one heard it, kinda bittersweet huh?
I originally did plan to put Holly and Trina in the fic but then I thought that adding them would take focus away from Jade and on her birthday that's a no go.
I also couldn't help but add a little of hypocrisy on Jade's part, it's only her birthday when it benefited her, LOL.
If you guys remember, Jade DID say once in the series that Cat was "basically a pet" I decided to poke fun of that because, why not?
As always, gimme your final thoughts on this chapter.
