Who here wants to see the big, bad Jade West act motherly?

After one too many urban explorations an abandoned dilapidated house, was not something out of the ordinary or new to the explorers, whether rookies or experienced was a window into the unknown, maybe even an adventure.

However that still didn't take away the ever present "fear factor." This place was far as far could get, not a single trace of civilization could be traced, just trees as far as the eye could see, which only added to the sense of dread as they didn't have a single leaf, the bark rotting away, bending over as if the trees no longer could hold the weight of their own branches, a clear indication of death as far as the eye could see.

"The outside was just a frightening as the inside, even though it was just speculation as I have yet to set foot on the house, the atmosphere around however gave the feeling of consternation no matter the direction one dared to look, the smell of rotting bark was mild but still present, possibly a remnant of what once happened here."

As I set my foot on the ground, the crunchy sound of leaves became louder and louder the more I walked towards the gate, the cool air could've served a soothing sense, had it not been for the fact that it also brought some unsettling sounds, maybe a warning of sorts to not go any closer, but I made it this far, nothing bad has happened, but for how long?

Once inside the property, the sight of the broken down door just feet away from me became a bad omen, it may have been due to years of disarray caused by Mother Nature taking back what once, or worse, someone trying to get out or more disturbingly, something trying and succeeding in getting in.

With my imagination running wild, I began to take in deep breaths of air, as If it would calm my nerves only to stop just as quickly as I began.

"But... What if I wasn't alone in here?"

If there was at least one mollifying thing about being here was the night sky as the milky way was ever present, gleaming down its pearly white stars under such a place of uneasiness, venturing in, what once was the main room could only be described as moist and stuffy, the moon the only light in the otherwise dismal place, the stairs that I walked upon creaked with every step as the basement became gloomier with every passing moment, the heavy breathing intensified the sound as if someone else was there, to my horror there it was, hanging from the ceiling, a sight I will never forget.

The body of a young man was hanging from a rope, recently maybe he was in his 20's and from his botching grey skin he I could only assume he had been in here for some time as he slowly became a food source for the insects that were eating away his rotting flash.

The walls in this place the sole witness to a terrible turn of events.

I could not keep my eyes away despite the horror I felt inside, suddenly, I felt as if someone, something was around me... Around my neck.

I left out a scream of sheer terrors as I was lifted from the ground and then...

crack.

Jade raised an eyebrow at what she just read, he looked from the written story to her daughter who was staring back at her with a mixture of hope, nervousness and anxiety.

"Well mom?" Tawny asked nervously "What did you think of my first horror story? Scary huh?"

"Tawny..."

"I knew it!" The little girl exploded "It bites!"

"Baby, I didn't even said anything." Jade said calmly.

"You didn't have to!" Her daughter replied "I mean, your Jade West! The Mother of the macabre! You can easily come up with anything dark and disturbing in seconds! It took me a whole night, trying to write this!"

"I can see you put it you all." The former Goth said "But honey, you're not into the horror genre, why did you write this if you probably had a terrible time doing it?"

"Who says I had a terrible time?" Tawny looks up at her mother with teary eyes "I just wanted to do something with you mom, I mean it's no secret that you have more in common with Danielle like I have more in common with Mama, but sometimes I don't like it that we don't spend any time together, I jut thought that if I wrote something scary, we could I dunno... do stuff just the two of us?"

Jade's eyes softened and held her daughter close to her "Tawny, listen just because I'm considered the mother of modern horror by critics, it doesn't mean you have to be too just so we could be on the same page, yes your sister and I have so much more in common but you're still my daughter and I love you just as much."

"Then how come we don't spend time together?"

Jade gazed at her daughter's handy work with a grin, it was true that it was nowhere near to her level of terror but the fact that she tried gave the woman a sense of pride, she looks at her child once more "Baby, I never said your story was bad, for your first attempt it was fairly good."

"Really?"

"Really." Jade confirmed.

"You're just saying that."

"No, really! I'll prove it!" The former Goth said "HEY TORI!"

Her wife roughly woke up from her slumber.

"AH!" Tori screams, falling off the bed, glaring at her spouse "JADE! You know I hate that!"

"I know!" She said cheekily "Now shut up and read this, Tawny wrote it and she wants an honest opinion."

"Aw, ok! I'm sure it will be a great story." The Half-Latina grinned, but soon her features turned grim "OH MY GOD!"

Jade proudly smirked at her daughter "See? You did just fine."

If Tori's shaking was any indication, she sure did, Tawny gazed at her mom, "Am I going to be in trouble for scaring mama?"

The former Goth laughs "Hardly baby, now tell you what, you want us to spend time together? How about we go to that Disney Princess make up place you like tomorrow?"

"Really?" Tawny asked in awe "But you hate that place! You keep saying that you would rather be digested alive by a Sarlacc than to set foot there!"

"True, but you're my kid and if you like it, I'll hold in my hatred for that place for as long as we're there."

Tawny hugs her mother "THANK YOU MOM! Hey, I think you would look awesome as Snow White."

"OVER MY DEAD...!"

Tawny's big puppy dog eyes made Jade stop in her tracks.

"I mean... you really think so?"

"Uh-huh." Tawny said with a nod.

"Ok then, we'll go tomorrow but you better go to bed now young lady."

"OK!" The little girl said happily, giving her mother a hug before leaving the room.

"Motherhood has made me soft." Jade thought, she then looked at her wife "Hey Vega? If I'm going to have to endure countless hours of Disney princess make up, how about some loving tonight?"

Tori, however didn't reply.

"Vega?"

The Half-Latina got under the covers, still shaking fear.

"Oh come on!" Jade snapped "It was only our daughter's first attempt at a horror story, it couldn't had been that scary?

She was about to turn off the light but Tori stopped her with an ominous warning.

"You turn off the light and you'll be sleeping in the couch for the rest of the month!"

"So, no Tori loving time tonight?"

JADE!"

I intentionally tried to put as little effort into the story Tawny wrote to empathize her inexperienced in the genre.

That being said, indeed, motherhood softened up Jade quite a bit and it sure seemed as if the apple didn't fall far from the tree if Tawny had some of Jade's writing skills in her veins and scare the wits out of Tori.

Also, Jade dressed as Snow white? Liz did a photoshoot of that and I was making a reference, heh.
