Sounds faded in and out for Leo. He had remembered waking up super early, and helping Saltbaker get ready to cook for the day, but he just ran out of energy while mixing dough for him. He couldn't focus much, but he felt himself being lifted up and placed on something. The rumbling in his stomach became the only sound the boy heard. He tried to focus his vision, but all he saw was blurry shapes and colors.
Leo then saw something get closer to his vision as words floated around his head "C'm...Le...Op..." He couldn't make out what it was, but it looked...grey...and like slime made out of mashed potatoes...the boy's mind wandered back to his dream, in which his Aunt Hildegard had made that horrible concoction called "Oatmeal...Aunt Hildy Style."
Leo tried to move his head away from the mushy abomination of impending doom making it's way to his mouth, but he was too tired to do so. He then felt something grab the top of his head to open his mouth. When something did hit his tongue, it didn't taste horrid like he thought...it actually tasted like scrambled eggs. He let out a smile as he swallowed. "Leo? Are you OK?" A voice asked. His vision focused to see Chef Saltbaker with a worried look on his face, in his arms were a few plates of pancakes, eggs omelets, and more.
"Hey Mr Chef...what happened?" Leo asked as some of Saltbaker's utensils jumped off his head and onto the table. The salt shaker let put a relieved sigh "Oh! Thank goodness, You're OK! You almost passed out from exhaustion!" He explained. Leo's eyes widened, but then he looked down, as he felt embarrassed about almost passing out. "Well, I'm alright now-" He tried to say, but Saltbaker shook his head "Nope, No You're not. You need to eat SOMETHING. You haven't had anything since dinner last night. You need food NOW." He said, placing plate after plate of foods on the table.
Leo's head spun at all of the plates, and actually tried to get him to stop, but soon found himself staring down at least 12 plates of pancakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes, and other breakfast stuff. He looked at the salt shaker with wide eyes. "Chef...there is no way I can eat all of this...it's too much." He said slowly. Saltbaker just walked to the door "I'll be right back at least eat something, you need to eat." He said, however, what met him at the door had shocked the both of them. A crowd of kids had lined up at the door with the Counselors standing with worry...minus Hakim for some reason.
"IS HE OK?! IS HE ALRIGHT?!" Sundrop screeched, jumping over Saltbaker's shoulder and rushing over to Leo, his hands squishing his face. "LEO!! ARE YOU OK?! CAN YOU HEAR ME?! HOW MANY FINGERS AM I HOLDING UP RIGHT NOW?!" He yelled, holding his entire hand up in Leo's still squished face "Um...5?" He said, unnerved by Sundrop's worry. "OH! THANK GOODNESS!! You're OK! After Hakim told us about you Falling out of exhaustion, and Saltbaker's squeal waking the camp, we just had to check on you!" Sundrop exclaims.
Leo looked in confusion "Hey...where IS Hakim anyway?" He asked. The Counselors also looked confused, as they didn't see the Spanish talking Counselor. A whisk then pulled on Saltbaker's pant leg, trying to tell him something. "What is it?" He asked, picking the utensil up. It whispered to him "What do you mean you don't recognize it?...oh really?..." Saltbaker began to look at a pink heart shaped spatula with distain "HAKIM!! You know that you're banned from being in here!" He yelled. The spatula chuckled as it turned back into the smooth talking Counselor. "Come on, I brought help didn't I?" He said "Yes...and you also dumped an entire bottle of LOVE POTION into Claris's 'Good Luck' cake! You better be lucky I don't bake you into pie." Saltbaker said. "C'mon Balan! Tell him that he's still banned!" He yelled. Balan got between the two, trying to defuse the situation, bit hie eyes also caught Leo trying to leave without eating a single bite. The being snapped his fingers, and Leo felt himself get stuck to the chair, as he lost control of his hands, that caused him to eat Saltbaker's food, despite his protests.
The kids behind the Counselors began to get impatient "Is he OK?" "Is Leo alright?" "Did he Die?" The questions poured out like a flood from a dam. Zuke tried to calm them down "No, Leo is not dead, he just fainted, he'll be fine." He soothed...and even though Leo couldn't see them, he felt the heat of millions of eyes on him...
