Happy Victorious day everybody! Eight years ago today, the show's pilot aired.
Anyway, this chapter is a sequel to chapter 54, right after Tony and Emily's wedding.
"I do." Tony says.
"You may now kiss the bride."
Tori West sighs as she sat alone at an empty table, going over and over in her mind the moment her son got married in her old childhood home literally an hour ago.
After the wedding, the reception was in a large dance hall, she was solemnly watching as the guests, both family and friends getting seated at their assigned tables.
"Ladies and Gentlemen!" Andre said over the microphone, getting everyone's attention "I give you Mr. and Mrs. West!"
Everyone clapped as Anthony and Emily entered the hall, both husband and wife looking humbled but pleased at the same time… However the bride was the latter should her wide smile be any indication.
"Can you believe it Tony?" Emily says cheerfully "We're finally married!"
"I know, I was there." He teased back.
"Oh, don't get smart with me, princess."
"You're never going to stop calling me that, are you?"
"Nope, not that you mind."
"What do you think?" He asked, leaning over to give Emily a kiss, something she returned in kind. "Also, if someone is a princess today, that's you."
"I may be wearing an over the top wedding dress but that doesn't mean that I can't still kick your ass."
"Glad to know that married life won't change that tongue of yours."
"Damn straight, princess." Emily said, this time she's the one leaning to give her husband a kiss.
Tori let out another sigh, watching from afar as her son kissed the woman he loved which only made her feel gloomy that Tony was no longer her little boy.
"Stop it!" Tori chided herself "This is a happy night, remember, your son just got married to the love of his life! He's so happy and you should too!"
But still, she couldn't help but feel as if a tiny piece of her heart had left.
… To the other side of the globe.
"STOP IT!"
"Stop what?" her own wife, Jade, asked, coming over and sat down next to her.
"Uh… Stop being so irresistible at our son's wedding?"
"I'm going to choose to believe that's what really was going through that head of yours." Jade said "I know that face…. Vega, our son is all grown up… He just got married, accept that."
"I do accept it… My mind was… You know… Wandering." Tori said reluctantly "And for the record, you do look irresistible."
"Thanks for stating the obvious." Jade replied with a grin "So, what did I miss?"
"Just the newlyweds making an entrance."
"Looks like their doing more than that."
"Ugh… Do they have to be so lovey dovey." Tori grunted ironically.
"Well, they are in love."
"They still don't need to over show it."
"Be glad they're gonna be doing a different type of love behind closed door later tonight."
"Ugh, Jade!"
"Oh, don't be such a prude Vega."
"You suck."
"Like I been telling you for years, in a good way." Jade teased. "At any rate just to keep your mind at ease, they're bringing out the food now."
"That doesn't make me feel better." Tori grunted "Tony and Emily made the food remember?"
"So?"
"So, it will be the last time we'll be tasting our son's cooking!"
"Oy." Jade groaned "Vega, don't do this to yourself."
"I'm not doing anything!" Tori defended, a bit too quickly. "I-I'm fine."
"Sure, because someone whose fine just made an overdramatic comment." Jade said, her voice dripping of sarcasm "Vega we've been married for more than forty years. And that face you're making? It screams of internal conflict, I first saw it when I met you, then throughout high school, I also saw it when we first started dating, I seen it when you got cold feet a week before our wedding, then when you got pregnant, also when we became parents, when the twins started dating and most of all when Tony wanted to become a chef and study in France."
"You kept count?!"
"Hardly, I just barely scratched the surface." Jade shrugged, scooting her chair closer to her wife and putting a comforting arm around her shoulders. "Come on, this is our son's wedding, cheer up."
"I don't need to." Tori replied back "I'm 100 % happy!"
"Right, and I'm 100% full of rainbows and daisies." Jade shot back sarcastically "Vega, don't make me use my secret weapon on you."
"I already took your scissors remember?"
"My other secret weapon, you dork."
"You wouldn't dare!" Tori hissed "Not here!"
Jade quickly made it to her wife's left ear and began sucking on it, something that almost made Tori moan in pleasure but held it in considering where they were, (un)fortunately for her as quickly as it began it ended.
"I know you love when I do that." Jade said evilly "Now talk or that's the last time you'll feel my wonderful, talented mouth doing that."
"That's blackmail!"
"I know."
"You can't do that!"
"I believe I just did."
"You suck."
"You weren't complaining seconds ago. So, what's it going to be?"
"Ugh fine…" Tori blushed "It's just a little…"
"A little what?"
"… Surreal." Tori admitted "I mean we walked Tony down the aisle, yes I knew this was going to happen but seeing actually happening before my very eyes really hit me that he's all grown up, he took the ultimate step towards manhood and I guess I'm having trouble coming to terms with that… That he's not my little boy anymore."
"Remember Vega, just because he's all grown up, it doesn't mean he'll stop being our son."
Tori reached for her wife's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "Why do kids have to grow up so fast?"
"Blame life for that." Jade chuckled. "As much as we would love for our kids to be little for as long as possible, that's not how it works and trust me, our kids may be grown up but we'll still have plenty of crazy stuff when we get to babysit our grandchildren."
"I look forward to that." Tori said, watching as her daughters tended to their children, Matt made it over to his grandparents' table and jumped in Jade's lap.
"Uff!" Jade grunted "Don't do that Matt, you're not so little anymore, kid."
"Sorry grandma." The boy apologized "I'm hungry but mom says I have to wait."
Jade took a quick look at Tawny, making sure her daughter was distracted, she then looked in her purse and got a popsicle. "This if for you, just make sure your mom doesn't see it."
"Thanks grandma!" Matt said, giving her a kiss on the cheek before hiding under the table to eat his treat.
"Matt has you wrapped around his little finger." Tori says playfully.
"Oh bite me Vega." Jade snapped "So I gave our grandson a popsicle. "He doesn't have be wrapped in anything!"
"Grandma, can I have more candy?" Matt asked with a face that made Jade's heart melt. "Please?"
"You can have all the candy you want."
Tori chuckled "He's going to use that power over Jade for as long as he can." She then looked over to her son and Emily, they were no longer kissing but rather were getting compliments from their friends, all the while they were holding hands.
"At least he's happy," Tori said softly. "That's-That's all I want for him … For all my kids." This time hey eyes were on her daughter in law. "And Emily's a good girl… Deep down, I know I can trust her to have Tony's back when he needs it… They'll have a wonderful marriage."
Tori once more grabbed her wife's hand, Jade didn't say anything, she just noticed where her wife's gaze was and simply gave her a kiss on the cheek and watched as their son kept chatting away with his new wife.
"That's my boy."
Soon, the food was brought out and everybody sat at his or her tables enjoying the meal, Jade and Tori knew the menu was a little over the top seeing as both Tony and Emily made it a competition, neither of them willing to have a dish that was not up to their standards.
"I'll never know how Tony can make Soylent Green taste so good!" Jade said taking a bite out of her meal. "I think I'll have seconds."
"You do that." Tori said uneasily, she never liked that dish since it tasted a little unusual every time, she couldn't put a finger on it but there was something off about that dish, she instead politely declined that meal and instead was having some chicken.
"This steak is great!" Alan boomed eating the meat like it would be his last meal "Our little girl sure knows her way around recipes."
"She sure does." Chad agreed "And what have I told you about inhaling your food? This is our daughter's wedding not our living room table, have some manners!"
"the old ball and chain ladies and gentlemen." Alan says playfully which only resulted in a glare from the other occupants in the table.
"I'll shut up now."
"Why in the hell are we sharing a table with them?" Jade hissed to her wife.
"We're the parents of the groom, their the parents of the bride." Tori shrugged. "So… That makes us family."
"I want to strangle them… Can I?"
"NO!"
"Come, we paid for the wedding!" Jade snapped "Doesn't that count for anything?"
"The Wedding was our gift to them!" Tori hissed. "It doesn't mean you can go all homicidal on Emily's parents!"
Before Jade could say anything, Chad interrupted what could have been an argument between the two women.
"Well, take a look at that." Chad says nodding towards the next table.
Everyone did just that, to where Tony and Emily were sitting, ironically, they haven't touched even a single bite of the food they made for their wedding, in fact it was the farthest thing from their minds, they were whispering to each other, about what? They're parents didn't know but it didn't matter since they were clearly happy.
"And to think," Jade said. "Those two were at each other's throats since the day they meet, I remember when they were elementary school one day his backpack was covered in pudding because of her, he bowed revenge after that."
"And what did he do?" Alan asked.
"I don't know." Jade shrugged "He never told us, all I know is that she was his first kiss."
"Aww, I remember that." Tori laughed. "That should've been the first sign."
They all agreed with an "Um-hum."
"… Hey, Vega?"
"Yeah Jade?"
The former Goth stood up and held out her hand. "Want to dance?"
Tori smiled. "Took you too long to ask."
"No, I didn't." Jade replied "Someone else asked first remember?"
"You looked so cute dancing with Matt." Tori grinned "And I have it on my phone."
"Get over here before I change my mind."
"Fine, fine, don't need to be a gank."
"I'll be a gank if I want to, thank you very much!"
"Very mature baby."
"I know." She teased putting her hands on her wife's hips. "This brings back memories."
"Oh?" Tori asked, her arms around her spouse's neck. "Dare I ask what sort of memories?"
"Seems like yesterday it was you and I dancing at our own wedding, remember that?"
"Kinda hard to forget." Tori replied "It's not every day you hear the Scissoring' soundtrack at our first dance as wife and wife."
"We compromised, we had my favorite music when we danced and I promised I wasn't going to murder your sister."
"Yeah, great compromise." Tori said with an eye roll.
"You can't deny we ended up having a great time."
"And after nearly half a century, we're still together…. Who would have thought we would hav …."
Jade kissed Tori in mind-sentence for what seemed like hours but what most likely a few seconds, maybe a few minutes.
"What was that for?" Tori asked breathlessly, her lips still tingling from the kiss.
"That my dear Vega," Jade smirked "Was for giving me the best years of my life."
"Jade West," Tori gasped. "Are you showing human emotion on your son's wedding day?"
"You tell anyone and I'll file for divorce the minute we walk out those doors."
"Umm. Nah, I don't think you will."
"Why is that?"
"Because I gave you the best years of your life." Tori says playfully "You loooove me, love me? Love me now? Yeah you do. Come on give Tori a squeeze me."
"Yeah, I'm definitely filing for divorce."
"Hey!"
"You do realize that everyone's staring at you two, right?" Tony questioned, getting his parents attention "Thank you."
"For what?"
"Because I knew you guys would do this." Tony said unsurprised "Which means I just won a little bet with my wife."
"You two betted on us making a scene?"
"Don't be ridiculous mama." He said "We had a bet on who would do it first, you two or her parents."
"What did you win?"
"Trust me mom… Its best if you don't know."
"Ohhh. Ok then." Both women said awkwardly.
"Um, mom?" Tony asked. "I know you're kind of dancing with Mama right now, but would you mind if I…"
"Nope… Go right ahead." Jade said, taking a step back "I got something else to do."
"Please don't give our grandson more sugar, Jade."
"She did what?!" Tawny boomed as she walked by "Mom! How could you?"
"Thanks a lot Vega." Jade glared at her wife. "Now I really want a divorce."
Tori and Tony saw amused as Tawny began chewing out her mother for giving Matt an insane amount of candy, when they were out of earshot both mother and son began to dance.
"The last time we did this was years ago."
Tony nodded "Yeah, you're the one who taught me to dance, remember?"
"That's was a victory for me." Tori grinned.
"Huh?"
"You had no idea how much I fought with your mom over that." Tori clarified "She taught your sisters how to dance, I was determined to teach you."
"I'm really going to miss those strange arguments you and mom have all the time." Tony chuckled. "Once Emily and I move to France, it's all going to be so… Normal and quiet."
"You could always find a job at some restaurant here in California."
"Nice try Mama." Tony said "As much as I'm going to miss you and Mom, Emily and I are ready to start this new chapter of our lives and sure it's scary but it's also exciting and I can't wait for us to start not only our dream together but our lives together."
Tori touched her son's cheek, fresh tears running down her face.
"I know I said this before." Tori hiccupped sadly "But I'm going to miss you so, so much."
"I know Mama." Tony replied "I'm going to miss you too."
"Be sure to call once in a while." She requested "I want to make sure my baby boy is all right."
"I will."
"And don't you forget that I love you and… I'm so proud of you."
"Never." Tony said "Distance won't make me forget my parents."
"Oh Mijo." Tori hugged her child, wanting to hold him in her arms for as long as she could, "I don't think anybody could have had a better son that you."
"Mama?"
"Yeah?"
"Mom wasn't serious about filing for divorce, was she?"
Tori has reservations about the Soylent Green… I wonder why? Heh.
This probably isn't the best ending but after several re-writes I just didn't know how to end this, truth be told, it could have gone from happy to sad maybe even weird to angsty but I decided to go with a sentimental-comical ending.
Personally, one of my favorite parts of the chapter was when Matt could so easily make Jade's heart melt because he indeed has his grandma wrapped around his little finger and neither of them realize it, it was also written unintentionally, it was just added at the last minute to have both the Jade we know and the Jade that turns into a big softie when it comes to her grandson.
As always, do tell me what you thought, was this good? Bad? Decent? In Between?
