Inkopolis

While the city is so bright and lively, a single inkling sits on the stairs and sulk, realising how much of a failure she was.

It did remind her of how many jobs she took and was fired for not only being underaged, but has zero understanding of health and safety.

"Boo! Well this sucks, and I was doing so well! Maybe I'm just not cut out for turf war." Rei sighed while picking up her Splattershot Jr and walked back towards the exit.

While slouching, she stops and turns behind her out of confusion, only to see a bunch of inklings.

Strange… A sound that is loud enough to catch her attention which is worrying for her.

"Who's there? I got a Splattershot and I'm not afraid to use it!" Turning around, Rei is still hearing a sound which makes her realise that she's being followed.

Before she turns around again, a white squid spreads its tentacles and hugs her face as Rei ends up exclaiming while shooting everywhere in her surroundings.

"MMF!? MMHULFM!" Muffling, Rei tries to pull a white squid off her face until she crashes onto many inklings and other businesses from different sea creatures.

"What the!?"

"Hey, kid!" Both inklings are shocked to see an inkling being attacked by a squid as they hear a muffled scream.

As for the urchin his spiky 'hair' has been landed on by Rei's backside, causing her to hop and crash into other stores while crying out in pain.

"Ugh! Watch it, kid!" The urchin exclaims.

Unfortunately, Rei has been knocked onto a pole as she collapses, leading a squid to morph into a familiar old man.

"Oh dear. Maybe I must've overdone it. Oh well." Shrugging his shoulders, the old inkling drags Rei's unconscious body, making sure that no inkling is watching.

Afterwards, some inklings are calling on the phone to report a squid attacking an inkling girl.

An hour later, Rei's vision is blurry as she's hearing muffled voices through her ears.

"Eh?"

With her vision clearing up, she finds herself in an apartment with a black and magenta haired inkling gasping with excitement.

"Sister! Sister!"

"What! What is it!? Huh." A white and green haired inkling stops as she finds out that Rei has woken up from her unconsciousness.

"Ungh… Where am I?" Rei groans while picking herself up onto her backside.

"Ah, you're awake, new recruit." Marie calls softly.

"New recruit? Huh?" Halting, Rei can finally see as she finally witnesses both inklings she saw on TV. "OOH! The real Callie and Marie!? Wow! I'm such a huge fan!" Rei's eyes are filled with glee after waking up in Callie and Marie's room.

"Hey! Looks like we got ourselves a fan!" Callie laughs.

Marie giggles, knowing that Rei is still an impressionable one.

"Hey! So why am I here? Oh! I get to become a new idol! Sorry, but I'm terrible at singing!"

Before Rei continues, Marie's finger stops her from speaking and makes sure to introduce herself and Callie.

"It's true that we're the Squid Sisters, but don't tell anyone who we are." Said Marie.

"Hm? What do you mean?" Rei raises an eyebrow out of curiosity.

With Callie chuckling and Marie sighs with a smile, both of them are doing their usual position while welcoming a young inkling to their cause.

"Welcome to the 'New Squidbeak Splatoon!"

"And you're lucky to have a paying job with us, Agent 3!" Callie pulls a grin while pulling up her thumb.

"Huh? WOW, REALLY!?" Excited, Rei not only joins in for payment, but she gets to work with the most famous stars of Inkadia.

"Yes. Since you're one of us, you'll address Callie as Agent 1 and I as Agent 2." Marie orders.

"Yes, ma'am!" Rei salutes with a smile.

"That was easy." Callie is surprised to see how Rei instantly agreed with working for them.

"Well, she is young, so nothing surprising." Said Marie.

"Also I won't be fired!"

"Wait! Fired!?" Callie exclaims as she and Marie nearly fall out of shock.

"Yep. It all started when I was four years old at a delivery job." Rei explains which had both Callie and Marie flabbergasted.

"FOUR!?" Callie shrieked.

"You have got to be squidding me! Who sent you out there!?" Marie is also shocked after hearing Rei's past.

"Mama. She wanted me to get paid, so I did. I was fired because I was too young and I had no education."

"No… Education!?" Callie is foaming pink out of her mouth as she didn't realise how Rei's mother sent her to do adults' jobs.

"Have you ever been to a single school?" Marie asked.

"School? Not really. I have never been to any school."

Marie bites her lips which causes her to bleed out green pain with a mixture of blue as rage has fueled her in, Callie is horrified by what Rei's life is like; going into different jobs under the age of 14 and lacking any education and she's 13.

"How did your mother raise you like this!?" Marie growled.

"Hm… I dunno? I eat, sleep, get a job or play around and I sell some drugs."

"Oh my cod!" Callie gasps as she's diving down and embraces Rei which has her confused. "Y- You poor thing!"

As Callie weeps for Rei, Marie is ringing her phone as she's pacing out of anger.

[Hello?] The old man's voice called.

"Gramps, it's me again."

[Oh, Ho, what is it that you want now?]

"About this inkling you requested and brought us. We diagnosed her to be mentally stupid." Said Marie.

[How so?]

"How so? How in the world was this inkling raised in a borderline abusive household and with no education skills!?"

[Hm… Well, you make the right point. Meet me at the Octo Valley tomorrow morning.]

Beep.

Marie turns her head behind as the sky is dusk, blending in the orange inklings.

"Callie."

"Yeah?" Callie raises herself up as she and Rei are curious to know what Marie is about to say.

"Tomorrow, Gramps needs the three of us to meet him at the Octo Valley."

"Oh! No problem! Ya hear that, kid, we're going on an adventure together!" Callie cheers.

"Yay!" Rei also cheers.

In Marie's eyes, Callie seemed to be the perfect candidate to become a mother figure to Rei. It's like watching an older sister and a little sister or a mother and a daughter.

14015 May 29th

Octo Valley

A valley such as that has a city, this city is inhabited by those octopus people called 'octolings.'

As the city shows many octolings, living in a city similar to inklings, the streets are active and on the billboard is a couple of octolings that are replicating the Squid Sisters.

Ignoring the octolings' 'news,' the old inkling is sitting by his shack, watching the turf war that is orange vs blue, while being on a rooftop of a large building.

A plopping sound has caught the old inkling's attention, witnessing Callie, Marie and Rei appearing with Rei moving her head while dizzy.

"Ah! You girls have arrived! And you brought in the newbie here." The old inkling is impressed before Marie grabs his ragged collar with a glare.

"Explain! You asked us to recruit this inkling who has no idea what she's about to go through!"

"Ah! But she's the fastest and has quick reflexes! Not only that, she managed to avoid being splatted for a single match without turning into a squid, except a few five seconds."

"Yet she's been through so many jobs and has no education in her life!" Marie continued.

"Ah!? Oh dear.. What have I done?" The old man drops to his backside.

"I- It's not your fault, gramps, you're just unaware of Rei's life, that's all!" Callie exclaims.

As the old man laments his grave mistake, Rei arrives as she's patting his head for comfort.

"It's okay, gramps, you didn't mean it, but I'm glad that I can join you." Rei pulls a grin while cheering up the old inkling.

As the old inkling is comforted, he then stands up and hands out a lollipop for Rei.

"Thank you very much, gramps."

"You're welcome. Ahem, I am Cap'n Cuttlefish, and these granddaughters of mine are Agent 1…"

"Yo!" Agent 1, Callie sticks out her tongue while making a peace sign.

"And Agent 2." Cap'n Cuttlefish finishes his introduction.

"'Sup." Agent 2, Marie smiles while waving.

"And you're the new recruit, Agent 3." Cap'n Cuttlefish concludes.

As Rei has become Agent 3, she was given a black top as well as a green high-visibility vest along with boots, shorts, and a weirdly shaped (or pointy) headphones as her uniform.

"Wooh!~ Thank you very much, gramps!" Rei bows with excitement after being a part of the New Squidbeak Splatoon.

"Ah! Well, you don't have to call me that, Agent 3."

With Rei and Cap'n Cuttlefish talking to each other as Rei felt very positive about being an official agent, Marie is preparing her Splat Charger while filling it and checking which scope is the perfect one to use.

"So, now that we have a new Agent 3, then what?" Callie asked.

"There's a lot of things this kid'll learn. She needs to know the reality of a fighter." Marie answers while finishing and raises her Splat Charger.

With the trio ready as Agent 1 holds her Hero Roller, Agent 2 holds her Hero Charger and Agent 3 holds out a Splattershot Jr, Agent 1 and 2 approach Agent 3 and Cap'n Cuttlefish while Cap'n Cuttlefish lets Agent 3 move to Agent 1 and 2.

"I think it'd be perfect for a family." Said Cap'n Cuttlefish.

"Hm? What do you mean?" Agent 1 asks.

Cap'n Cuttlefish chuckles as he's seeing some nice view with 2 adults and a child.

"Looks like Agent 3 has two mothers."

"TWO MOTHERS!?" Agent 1 and 2 exclaims as they're now stuck with Agent 3.

"Exactly. I'm sure you can babysit her just fine." Cap'n Cuttlefish laughs.

"Gramps, we're cousins and I don't swing that way!" Agent 2 snaps.

"And I haven't got a boyfriend!" Agent 1 is also shocked about raising a 13 year old inkling girl. "Gramps! What gives!?"

"Well, you two did failed to babysit someone earlier." Cap'n Cuttlefish points out, leading Agent 1 to growl at Agent 2 as Agent 2 herself chuckles nervously. "I'm sure you two won't let her splat like other Agent 3, won't you?"

As much as Agent 1 and 2 refuse to go through parenting a single inkling, Agent 2 sighs.

"Fine."

Agent 1 is about to make a complaint. "Gah! B- But…"

"I know, but think about our fallen comrades. They tried their best, well apart from the last third, but if we don't get past that ambush, then we'll have no other choice but to provoke a war." Agent 2 lowers her head as Agent 1 gasps.

Agent 1 stops as she's conflicted, making her turn around and look at Agent 3 who was testing out her firepower.

"Ngh… Fine. But promise me you'll keep her safe when I'm gone, sis."

"Already promised, and I won't be lazy."

"Good. Now go easy on her when she makes some mistakes." Said Agent 1

"I know, I know." Agent 2 sighs.

Afterwards…

"Alright, gramps, we'll raise this kid, but we need to see her mother first." Agent 1 concluded.

"Excellent. Now, you girls should get change, because your patrol operation is about to begin." Cap'n Cuttlefish taps his cane to the ground.

"Sir!" 3 inkling girls salute and are marching towards the building door in order to change without anyone but them knowing and to keep Cap'n Cuttlefish from staring at young girls' bodies.

5 minutes later, Agent 1 appears in a pink beanie with a sea star attached to it, wearing black shades and wearing a pink jacket. Agent 2 on the other hand is in a green baseball cap and has a mouth mask on as well as wearing a green jacket. Finally Agent 3 is in a black thick collared jacket with those headphones and has a new set of boots.

All 3 in high-visibility vest.

With the trio fully prepared, Agent 1, 2 and 3 are watching the city downwards as they see many octolings marching past together.

"Hmm… We need to blend in." Agent 2 is putting some thought as Agent 1 turns towards another building.

Poking Agent 2, Agent 1 is pointing at a direction to where they should go.

"Huh? Are we really doing that again?" Agent 2 asks as she knows what's going to happen in that direction.

"I know. But this time, it's personal!" Said Agent 1.

As worried as Agent 2 is, she couldn't help but notice how fully prepared Agent 3 is.

Will she be able to avoid the unavoidable ambush?

"Ngh… Okay. Agent 1, Agent 3, we'll make our way towards that direction and make sure to go unnoticed. Agent 3, be careful when octarians attack."

"Yes, ma'am!" Agent 3 agrees to be wary of her surroundings.

As the agent trio starts marching together, Agent 1 feels the nostalgia as she's hyped up to face the octarians again.

"Alright! New Squidbeak Splatoon, ROLL OUT!"

"YEAH!" Agent 3 is just as pumped up as Agent 1, leaving Agent 2 to cringe at that moment.

"Really? Ugh… Let's just go already." Sighed Agent 2.

With the trio of inkling girls marching forward and jumping onto a different building, Cap'n Cuttlefish is watching the trio and looking at the sky as he thinks about the memories he had with a certain friend of his hundreds of years ago.

"Takowasa. What have you been up to recently?"
