AN: I thought I could finish this with 3 chapters, but then Raelle happened. So, you have another extra chapter. Yay?

"We leave at daybreak."

"Hold on, leave where?"

"Harz mountain range. Northern Germany."

Raelle's eyes darted between the three women in the room, palms clammy. Sarah Alder was unwavering, face resolute at the decision she just came up with.

Earlier, she had come to seek Tally's help in looking into the past to find the next Steward's descendent or whatever the hell her mission was now to the Mother. Raelle found she couldn't care less. Not when there was a more pressing matter at hand. Not when the Mother was the one who pulled her away— even with good intention—from Scylla in the first place.

If only Raelle wasn't stuck down in the Mycelium to play house, none of this would have happened. Scylla wouldn't have to sacrifice herself to save their friends. No, Raelle would have protected her and everyone else. At the very least, she could be there with her girlfriend.

Abigail still looked confused by Alder's declaration while Tally looked conflicted.

Raelle quickly latched on to that. "N- Tally, no." She closed in, desperation in her voice. "You can't leave now. Your Sight is the only thing that can help locate Scylla. It's already been two days and we still have nothing."

Tally remained silent, hands fidgeting on her lap from where she sat.

"We need to find the last two pieces of the Song. This is more important than you can know." Alder shot, still unrelenting.

Raelle clenched her fists, turning to face the older woman. "Nothing is more important than this! Scylla could very well be dying right now, do you understand?"

Alder didn't as much as flinch at the outburst, only grew solemn. Raelle hated it.

"If Tally couldn't still See her to this day, then perhaps she's—"

"No," Raelle cut off, breath quickening. How dare her. "Don't you even think about finishing that sentence."

"We are not giving up on her," Abigail said to Alder, storm in her voice. "She has countlessly saved us and we'll find her if it's the last thing we do." She turned to Tally next. "Ultimately, it's your choice, Tally. If you think the best course of action is to leave then go..."

Raelle couldn't argue, stopped by Abigail's pointed look before she continued like she hadn't been interrupted, "But, if you don't think that, then we really need you here."

Tally sighed heavily from her seat. "I'm sorry," She spoke finally, standing up and walking towards where Alder was across the room.

Raelle slumped in defeat, ready to run off into the night and do this alone. She never should've put hope in her sister with Scylla. They didn't know her or love her like Raelle did.

"I think the witch in the mountain is not a flight risk." Raelle's thought snapped back to the present. Tally, still looking at Alder, said, "She can wait. Scylla couldn't. I'm sorry, Sarah, but, I'm going to carry on looking for Scylla until she's here with us."

Alder's face slowly softened, properly defeated. "I'll wait then."

And Raelle...she felt like she could cry with relief.

The heaviness of the night air settled over the backyard of the Marshall's mansion, an unwelcome preview of the cold winter ahead. Raelle was sitting, cross-legged, face buried in her hands, in front of the mushroom patch that formed the 'R' letter on the ground, her last message to Scylla.

They still couldn't track Scylla's whereabouts and it had been three days now.

Raelle tilted her head further down, her fingers seeking to bury in her hair before she pulled until her scalp stung. "You wouldn't have her already, would you?" She muttered to the cold air—to the Mother Mycelium below.

Was Raelle too late?

She was the Witchbomb, still is, and that made her powerful and dangerous. But, what good was any of that if Scylla wasn't here with her? What was the point of having a power that could win wars if you couldn't save the one person that truly matters?

She hunched forward, palms now flat on the ground, nails digging dirt. "Tell me where she is," she ordered, firm.

The 'R' glowed a bright purplish-blue as she felt the Mycelium power leak from her hands and into the earth below.

"Where is she?" She asked with gritted teeth, pulling the earth now with her desperation. She just wanted Scylla. Why was it so damn difficult?

"Tell me," She hissed, moving to kneel to get closer. She could sense the Mycelium's connection sparse through the underground, through every chamber that housed resting witches and then upwards to the still alive ones, witches and humans alike.

Raelle closed her eyes, head bowing until her forehead rested on the glowing patch. "Find her!"

And bring her to me.

"Rae!"

The connection suddenly broke and Raelle was left panting for oxygen. Her chest burned and she was gasping for air like a reversed fish out of water.

Slowly, Abigail swam in her blurred vision.

"What the hell are you doing, shitbird?!" Abigail shook her shoulders like the action would give her the answer. It only made Raelle dizzy. "We talked about this, you promised not to use your Witchbomb!"

"It's not a Witchbomb," Raelle said sullenly, slowly coming into, though her chest still felt tight.

Abigail released her hold, her frown still evident. "It looked like a Witchbomb and you almost passed out from it. Who knows what will happen to you if you detonate the Witchbomb this time."

"It's not a Witchbomb, okay," Raelle got up to her feet, dusting the dirt off her jeans and tried to suck her unshed tears back in before Abigail noticed.

"Rae," Abigail called softly, gripping Raelle's shoulder, urging her to look up at her.

When Raelle did and saw Abigail's small smile, all anguish vanished. Hope immediately blossomed instead. "Tally? Did she...?"

Abigail nodded, "She saw Scylla."

*

"I saw her!" Tally blurted first thing as soon as Raelle entered her bedroom.

"Where? Was she hurt?" Raelle asked, not missing a beat.

"Yeah—No, yeah, she was fine. We were all there, she was laughing," Tally smiled widely, eyes sparkling. And Raelle felt like she could finally breathe after days trapped underwater. Scylla was alright.

"Okay, where exactly was this?" Abigail joined in then, separating the two from their quick hug. "Was there any clue how we could find the place? Where she was taken?"

Tally's smile died down, eyes far away as she recalled the vision again. "Well, we were in the woods."

Abigail looked unimpressed. "The woods?"

"Yeah, the woods. An area of land that is covered with growing trees."

"Oh is that what it means?"

Raelle sighed. "Guys, c'mon."

Tally and Abigail shared an offended look before both seemed to settle down. So Raelle continued, "What did the tree look like? Is there a-a flower or any animal or-or landmark—anything at all that's distinguishable?"

Tally pinched the bridge of her nose, pacing around the room. "Well, there were um trees, oak I think, and squirrels?"

Abigail scoffed. "Squirrels? Wow, that really narrows this down."

"Well, sorry for not having all the answers."

"And why is that? You found Khalida just fine before, even the Steward's witch hundreds of years in the past, and now suddenly you couldn't do it for Scylla?"

"I don't know, Abigail! I have no answer for that, maybe my Sight's a sham or maybe the Camarilla have something to do with blocking my Sight around Scylla. Whatever it is, this is all I have, okay? She was in a forest with us, all of us and she was laughing, she was fine." Tally sucked a sharp breath, glaring right back. "At least I'm doing something, I don't see you contributing."

"Your vision still brings us nowhere. Can't you conjure up another more useful one?"

"Oh sure, let me just polish my shiny magic orb some more."

"Your eyeballs, you mean. Want some help?"

"Hey!" Raelle stepped in between the two, effectively becoming a barrier before the two can crash. Her eyes darted between the taller women, nose flaring. "What is happening here? If you two don't want to do this then just say so, I'll go find her on my own. I don't need this bullshit."

With a huff, she promptly left them to their own devices and went to her room to pack a bag. She should've done this the first moment they told her Scylla was gone. Now, precious time was already wasted and Scylla's chance of surviving was deteriorating. Raelle should have found other ways to locate the brunette way sooner. Why didn't she think to form a Link with the Mycelium just like earlier? So stupid. If Abigail hadn't interrupted her, Raelle was confident that she would've succeeded in locating Scylla.

Shoving a blanket into a backpack—Scylla might be cold—Raelle heard her bedroom door squeak from behind her.

"Take your quarrel outside. I'm not wasting any more time here playing mediator." Raelle said without stopping her task.

"Yeah, that's supposed to be my job, right." Tally's voice echoed. "But, you did pretty good, considering."

"And by that, you mean leaving us to sort our own shit out?" That was Abigail.

Sighing, Raelle finally turned around to face her sisters, ready to kick them out. She didn't have time for this, damn it.

But Abigail beat her to it. "Look, I'm sorry for whatever happened back then. I was just trying to help." Her eyes were earnest and when Raelle truly looked at her, there were dark shadows underneath them. Clearly, Abigail wasn't sleeping well. And by the looks of it, so did Tally. They both looked tired. Worn out. Guilt crawled its way into Raelle's conscience.

"It's not me you should say sorry to."

Abigail sighed, relieved. "Right. Tally, I'm sorry for being such a bitch."

Tally only smiled, back to sunshine and rainbow. "Apology accepted. I'm sorry too, Abs. Now, do you want to tell her or should I?"

"So, the trees that Tally saw were oaks, and some of their leaves were red."

Raelle blinked, "Red oaks?"

Tally nodded. "If we could narrow down which States got them, we can localise Scylla's whereabouts."

"They couldn't have taken her too far given the days. And that narrows to the nearest State around the Cession," Abigail carried on, "As far as I know, red oaks are mass planted in Montana, Louisiana and Virginia. But, I think we should go to Texas first."

Raelle's eyes widened in recognition. "The Texas Red Oak."

"Yes, they're native there. And I'm confident that I can See around for military encampments. If they're somehow blocking Scylla, I can look for the masses instead of just focusing on her."

Raelle straightened. She had a better idea. "No, Tal. I can Link with the Mycelium and search the area all at once, it'd be faster." Because she was done waiting around.

*

An hour later, they departed—Raelle, Abigail and Tally. The Bellweather unit once again.

Adil followed, vehement in not being left behind. Raelle reminded him that he didn't have to put himself in harm's way for her sake. He wasn't a soldier and this could only get dangerous. But, he insisted, rather strongly that Scylla was his friend too. Raelle only stared back, speechless. Even her sisters didn't object. Abigail only looked proud that her boyfriend was ready to fight without being asked.

There was a warm feeling throughout Raelle's body that she couldn't name. She decided to store it for later once she got time and Scylla, safe in her arms.

Their transport came in the way of Thelma Bearkiller. She gave them a car—a mid-size SUV to borrow, claiming that she wished she could do more but as it was, the Cession was preparing for war and she needed to focus on her militia to save their home from US military invasion.

By late noon, they arrived in a small town near the border of Texas. There were no Military Police or Civilian Oversight littering the streets, so they pulled over to the side of the road for Raelle to do her Linking with Mother Mycelium.

Raelle didn't know how her power worked earlier or if it could work the second time. She hoped that it wasn't a one-time thing.

"Don't you need something dead for this?" Abigail asked. They were standing in a line across Raelle's kneeling form.

Raelle looked up, blinking in confusion. "Why?"

"Because Necro always had one when she tried to connect with you down there. It's like she had a never-ending supply of road kills."

"Maybe because she did. We should've raided her closet," Tally exclaimed.

Adil shifted his feet, "There were a few I saw on the way. Should we go back?"

The corner of Raelle's mouth twitched. That warm feeling was back. "Guys, it's fine. I don't think I need it."

They were right of course in that Scylla always used dead animals as a medium to form a Link but Raelle didn't need any medium. She was already linked.

In a way, she was a part of the Mycelium.

No, she was a part of the Mother Mycelium. Period.

So, with that thought set in, she began adding her Work. Singing the mix of low and high seed that the Mycelium had specifically requested of her the first time. Scylla's song.

The sensation of something leaking hit Raelle almost immediately. It was the same feeling from earlier in the Marshall's backyard, only this time it multiplied all over her body.

"Rae, that better not be the Witchbomb."

Raelle hunched forward, palms flat on the ground and said to Tally, "It's not!"

The Mycelium power leaked in the form of threads of spores as Raelle continued her Song. And then she dove like cruising through a river, passing by the organisms there; the Mycelium came first over the roots and soils, its witches' chambers and then travelled to the life above them. Trees, flowers, animals; cattle grazing in the field. Then people, witches and ordinary.

She focused on that. An unspoken question lingered at the back of her mind.

Where is Scylla?

Seconds, minutes or an eternity later, a distant building emerged, spoiled with a death current so great she jerked away physically and mentally, resulting in breaking the Link. She gasped for air, blurred vision cleared to find herself back on the ground with Abigail, Tally and Adil.

A heavy feeling settled on Raelle's chest as she finally found her answer.

AN: I think most of the fans were saying how the Unit, even Raelle, were too...aloof? in Scylla's capture, to which I agreed. They were so chill like Scylla wasn't in the hands of their ancient enemies that hang and burn witches. Like excuse me, baby Spree deserves to be cared for! So, I thought I could write what I wished/wanted to happen, see them making some effort in locating Scylla not just being spoon-fed by some random soldier and then later say, 'Welp, I guess we have to go save baby Spree now.' Shame on them!

But, I KNOW it's not the show writer's fault, if only they were given time and more seasons, I think the show would've been great. So much of lost potential. I'm not blaming anyone here. Just venting my two cents.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the show or this chapter. I hope you at least enjoyed this story so far?
