"Captain. We're inside the arena, the octoweapon is nearby." Agent 3.5 calls as he puts Cap'n Cuttlefish on the speaker.

[Oh! That's great, Agent 3.5! You and Agent 3 made it so far that you might be able to survive the impossible!]

"Unless there's a spawn point." Agent 3.5 lowers his head as he mutters.

[I'm sure you two will be okay. Good luck and make me proud! Oh, that reminds me, I could go for some good ol' crabby cakes.]

Beep.

After hanging up, Agent 3 and 3.5 laughs as they're amused and then moving forward.

What catches their attention is a certain tiny yellow catfish creating some electricity to keep the building bright.

"Ooh!~ What's this!?" Agent 3 asks as she finds it cute to be around this dark area.

"That's a… A zapfish!? What's it doing there?"

"I don't know, but I'm taking it home!" Agent 3 charges ahead before a noise is heard behind a zapfish.

"Agent 3! Wait!" Agent 3.5 then runs towards Agent 3 before another bang is heard, causing him to run even faster.

Then…

SPLAT!

"WOAH!" Agent 3 leaps backwards as she's this close to getting her hands on a zapfish after a large tentacle clenches itself on a zapfish and yanks it into darkness filled with pink paint.

"What's going on!?" Agent 3.5 asks after helping Agent 3 onto her feet.

"I don't know. I saw an octopus tentacle grab the little guy and then poof! Gone into the dark." Agent 3 answers as she's unsure what's going on.

Then…

Flashing, the lights are turned on as it blinds both Agent 3 and 3.5 as well as ringing their ears by hearing so many cheers coming from a crowd that are octoling boys and girls.

In front of them is a large cube of a pot-box with a face made out of pink paint, making it look uncanny to the inkling duo.

"What the shell?" Gasping in shock, Agent 3.5 has witnessed an octoweapon that he faced before coming back to haunt him again.

"I don't like this… It's scary…"

This is the first time Agent 3.5 sees Agent 3 being scared of an octarian.

"Agent 3…" Agent 3.5 lowers his head as the chances of surviving are mid to low.

But it didn't stop Agent 3 from holding her weapon and fighting.

[LADIES AND GENTLEPODS! ARE YOU READY FOR SOME SPLAT DOWN!]

A loud voice that is from a girl whose species is unknown, unless it's an octoling, but it sounds like an inkling.

"Who are you!?" Agent 3.5 yelled as a silhouette sighs.

[I don't need to tell, but… I will once you destroy this bad boy!] A voice called. [We have the inkling duo who're working for a private organisation as a way for their payments and their training. Give it up for THREE AND THREE-POINT-FIVE!]

With both agents' numbers being called out, the octolings boos and hisses at the inkling duo, wishing death upon these two squids.

And how did the unknown voice know their codenames?

"This isn't good… We need to use a distress call on Agent 1 and 2." Said Agent 3.5.

"Already on it." Agent 3 is checking to see how she uses a distress call and then presses it. "Is this the right button?"

"Yeah."

With both agents holding out their weapons, Agent 3 and 3.5's speakers are making a noise as the duo answers.

[This is Agent 2, we're on our wa-]

[On the other side we have the BIG, the BAD and the WAR SURVIVOR! Give it up for THE MIGHTY OCTOSTOMP!]

After her announcement as Octostomp roars, every octoling cheers as they call for their own weapon to end both inklings' lives.

[You have got to be squidding me! Agent 1, we have to hurry!] Agent 2 calls.

[Yeah! Make sure you two aren't splatted, okay!] Agent 1 calls.

"Okay." Agent 3.5 concludes.

"I mean I can run away from this creepy guy, so I'll be okay." Said Agent 3.

[Good. We'll let gramps know if you two survive.] Agent 2 then hangs up, leading the duo to go against this monstrosity that is the Mighty Octostomp.

[Ready? FIGHT!]

"Run!" Agent 3.5 grabs Agent 3's arm as the duo are trying to escape with Agent 3 being the one dragging Agent 3.5. "Woah!"

"Hnngh!" Agent 3 dashes towards the door, but is blocked by a horde of octolings that are readying their weapons.

This led both agents to move to the right, circling the arena in a clockwise direction.

Before they're far away…

BANG!

"Ah!" Agent 3 gasps, witnessing a large cube nearly crushing them, not knowing how far Octostomp jumps..

"Agent 3!" Agent 3.5 yells before Agent 3 pushes her legs and boots him towards the top of a cube with a large tentacle out of a machinery

"Don't worry about me! Take down this scary guy!" Agent 3 calls as she's falling back to the arena floor.

As Agent 3.5 is on Octostomp's back, many octolings are yelling out of anger, realising that their bet and their creation will lose to a couple of inkling kids.

To Agent 3.5's surprise, he witnesses pink paint slowly spreading out from Octostomp's flat face.

There's one one thing to do, slosh the paint all over Octostomp's back and shove a triangular Splat Bomb inside Octostomp's tentacle hole and then SPLAT!

As the tentacle pops, a zapfish was found inside of a cube as it's actually calling for help.

"There it is."

Then Octostomp bursts out pink paint, breaking the metal and then hastily picking himself up to his feet, causing Agent 3.5 to hang on a tentacle as he yells.

"Agent 3.5!" Agent 3 called.

[To those who're unsatisfied with 2v1 battles, you're all free to attack the inklings on stage!] A voice returns with something that can be life threatening.

"Oh boy." Agent 3 knows what's coming to her.

She's now surrounded by a horde of octolings and a single Octostomp, preparing herself for the worst.

"Hehe… You're gonna pay for what you've done!" The octoling boy chuckles.

"Prepare to be splatted on!" The octoling girl growls.

"Now he's not alone! You're now against us and the boy is next!" The other octoling boy shouted.

This is something Agent 3 found unexpected, leading her to carry a single bomb that Agent 3.5 gave her after he introduce her a subweapon.

In Agent 3's mind: the bombs doesn't seem to affect those with similar ink colour, meaning there's a chance for it to detonate.

"C'mere!" The octoling boy charges straightforwardly along with 5 other octolings, 3 boys and 2 girls, meaning the 6 of them are going to hound on Agent 3.

"Heh. Four rollers, one dualie and one brush." Agent 3 can tell that 1 out of the other 5 are easier to get closer to as she's starting a Splat Bomb as it beeps. "Alright! Let's blow up!"

"Eh!?" The octolings exclaims.

After Agent 3 leaping closer to the one with Octo Dualies, the bomb explodes with a large SPLAT! Causing the octolings nearby to scream in agonising pain and splats all over.

"You inkstained little squid! Don't let her escape!" The octoling girl shouted as more octolings were going both close and long range as pink paint spread all over Agent 3's surroundings as she struggled to avoid more of them.

Then she heard a scream brom above which is coming from Octostomp that is about to crush her.

Is this over for her?

"Not yet!" Agent 3 instantly fires her Splattershot Jr, morphs into a squid and swims her way through the surrounding octolings.

Unfortunately for the octolings, they came to a realisation that Agent 3 lured them to a large square shadow.

"Oh fu-"

SPLAT! An increasing number of casualties on the octolings' side are overwhelming as Agent 3 chucks her Splattershot Jr towards Agent 3.5.

"Yo! I need to borrow your slosher!"

"Eh!? For eel!?" Agent 3.5 asks with surprise after catching a Splattershot Jr.

"Yeah! There guys won't stop trying to get us! Also I want to try it out too!" Agent 3 admitted.

Reluctantly, Agent 3.5 tosses a Hero Slosher to Agent 3 and raises a Splattershot Jr at a hanging tentacle.

"Alright. Be careful with it." Said Agent 3.5.

"Will do! Hoi!" Sliding from a paint that almost splashes on her, Agent 3 encounters more and more octolings as the one at the front is an octoling girl carrying an Octo Roller while growling.

"How are ya not tired!?" The octoling girl yells.

"Dunno? Maybe I just run?"

"THAT'S NOT AN EXCUSE!"

"Splat her! Don't stop until she's splatted!" The octoling boy ordered.

The octolings are not only enraged, but are panicking to the point that they can only die to this little inkling.

As for Agent 3.5, he's firing the tentacle which causes it to pop again, only to reveal a zapfish again.

"Come on!" Grunting in pain, Agent 3.5 is trying his best to reach towards the zapfish until Octostomp's back bursts, causing Agent 3.5 to scream and be thrown away from Octostomp's said back.

"So, did you get it?" Agent 3 asked.

"Ngh… Not yet. But this guy looked exhausted. And so am I!" Agent 3.5 pants while picking himself up.

"Don't stop. These guys mean business and this is awesome!"

"How are you still excited over that!?" Agent 3.5 exclaims, questioning Agent 3's attitude in this situation.

As the duo are surrounded once again, Agent 3 and 3.5 are raising each other's weapons while being outmatched.

As the octoling army are charging, the inkling duo never stops as they cause more chaos which gives them more and more confidence to the point that they're actually having tons of fun splatting the octolings left, right, front, back, up and down, even handing each other's weapons back to the point of creating a carnival of green paint.

SPLAT, SPLAT and more SPLAT!

They never stop until the wave is over.

At the entrance, arriving through are Agent 1 and 2 who're dashing forward and stop until they see a couple of Agent 3 making a party of green paint as their dance continues.

"Holy carp…" Agent 1 gasps.

"While overwhelmed, they can still do it all. Have we underestimated these two?" Agent 2 asks with surprise.

"I don't know, but that means we can make it through and bring back the Great Zapfish!" Agent 1 cheered and then laughed with pure excitement.

As for Agent 3 and 3.5, the duo are standing back to back with their own weapons refilled.

"Hey, Agent 3.5. You're an awesome friend." Agent 3 laughs.

"Yeah. You too, Agent 3." Agent 3.5 agreed.

With both agents approaching a tired Octostomp, the duo are fist bumping and raise their own weapons to finish the octoweapon off together.

As they reach the top, Agent 3 directly points at the tentacle's X scar mark and fires it by letting Octostomp lose all his ink.

Octostomp groans as he's tired out and then…

Thud.

Octostomp is now defeated.

As for the surrounding octolings and the audience, they have witnessed the loss of the Mighty Octostomp.

[And the winner is… THREE AND THREE-POINT-FIVE!] A voice cheered, leading the octolings to drop down as they're all exhausted.

"No way…" The octoling boy gasps.

"We lost!?" The other octoling boy is shocked.

"But this doesn't make any sense!" The octoling girl slams the floor out of rage.

After the octolings lose the battle, Agent 3 and 3.5 hifives as they cheer and laugh.

"I knew we could do it!" Agent 3 hugs Agent 3.5 as it leads him to blush.

"Yeah. I guess there's no need to be scared after all." Agent 3.5 sighs with relief.

[Way to go, Agent 3, 3.5! I never thought I could see the potential in you two. That means we can finally move forward.] Agent 2 called with some positive attitude.

[Heck yeah! Now go and get that zapfish!] Agent 1 cheers.

Before Agent 3 and 3.5 finish their mission off, a speaker is making noises which catches their attention.

[CONGRATULATIONS! Now that you both won your battle! Allow me to hand over a reward! Come on out!]

As Octostomp's body shakes with both agents armed and ready, something pops out as if it's a small and yellow creature that is not a zapfish.

"Huh?" Both inklings are looking at each other with confusion and concern.

Then…

SPLAT!

Coming out are 10 large tentacles, as they resemble a squid that is unusual, even Octostomp's covered face is now liquidating orange paint over green and pink.

"Eh!?" Agent 3 exclaimed.

"What the fish!?" Agent 3.5 gasped.

[It's a trap!? Run!] Agent 2 shouted.

"You don't have to tell me twice!" Agent 3.5 hangs up as he and Agent 3 are dashing towards the entrance out of desperation.

Behind them is nothing but chaos as many octolings are trying to defend themselves as well as each other with more of them being splatted and being taken inside the box.

They keep on hearing so many screams from behind as both agents are hurrying their way out.

Assuming some of the octolings made it out alive.

Then…

Caught by both tentacles, Agent 3 and 3.5 failed to escape as their arms and torsos are being gripped on by both squid tentacles.

"Ah…" Agent 3 gasps in shock, knowing that she's doomed to be splatted by an unidentified creature.

"N- No! Damn it!" Agent 3.5 grunts, witnessing that a zapfish is now being blocked by a tentacle monster that's bursting out of an octarian corpse.

Now both inklings are bound as they're about to meet their fate.

Zooming past all the tentacles from behind, Agent 2 hastily shot down some of the tentacles as well as leaping and dodging and sniping some tentacles with a sharp eye.

"Agent 3! 3.5!" Agent 2 called.

Grunting, Agent 3.5 slips out a Splat Bomb and drop it down through the hole where tentacles are coming out.

"Who are you!?" Agent 3.5 yelled.

[You'll never know. But I got what I needed. Bye-bye!]

"Ngh! Wait!"

Before Agent 3.5 calls out, he ends up with orange paint spreading inside him, leading him to grunt and yell in pain.

"Agent 3.5!" Agent 3 called while struggling to free herself.

"I don't wanna die… I thought we could do it…" Agent 3.5 is holding back his tears as he's trying his best not to cry.

"DAIGO!" Agent 2 yells as she's trying to break through.

Finally…

Open his eyes, Agent 3.5 can see what's in front of his eyes; an inkling girl that resembles what he's been living with for years, meaning the one in front of him is actually his little sister.

"Mirai?" Daigo gasped.

With Agent 3.5 frozen in shock, Agent 3 was freed by Agent 2 shooting and unbounding her from a tentacle.

Unfortunately for Agent 3.5, he was brought closer to a corpse as 8 more tentacles grab him all over. What makes it even worse is that it's his final scream until…

SPLAT!

Not just orange ink, but blue ink as well, meaning Agent 3.5, or Daigo, is torn apart like a water balloon and an animal.

In the end, Daigo's ghost then fades as green paint also fades which results in his demise.

"Dai… Daigo?" Agent 3 gasps in shock as she couldn't believe her eyes.

On the plus side, the Splat Bomb activates itself as it turns the orange tentacles into green until it's no longer moving.

BOOM!

After a massive explosion, it's raining green ink, in other words: the arena is now covered in green paint.

With Agent 3 sitting on her backside with her eyes widened, Agent 2 arrives as she pats Agent 3's shoulder out of pity.

"Agent 2? What happened to Agent 3.5? Did he come back? Is he still around?" Agent 3 asked.

Agent 2 shook her head and then wrapped her arms behind Agent 3.

"I'm sorry… But Daigo is gone… He'll never come back." Agent 2 confirmed.

"Oh… I see… Dai…" Agent 3 lowers her head as she can feel her chest in pain, only to realise that she will no longer see her friend again.

As calm as Agent 3 was, tears are running down after she found an abandoned Hero Slosher near a rescued zapfish.

Behind Agent 2 and 3, Agent 1 drops to her knees in shock and weeps after failing to save Daigo.

"Why!? We were so close! Daigo… Why…"

"Aori…" Agent 2 whispers as tears are coming out from all 3 agents.

In the end, they have won, but at what cost…

"Gramps… This is Agent 2…" Agent 2 calls through her speaker, sounding miserable.

[I know. This young lad has fought bravely. His loss will not be in vain.]

"Tell me, gramps, why Rei? Do you realise her behaviour and mentality is still juvenile?"

[Yes, but don't take this the wrong way. At least this young lassie did well beating one of the most powerful octarians that was used in the Great Turf War.]

"Yeah..." Agent 2 sighs. "I think she's mentally scarred."

Afterwards, Agent 2 picks up a green ink stained Hero Slosher and a zapfish and then marches along with Agent 3 towards the exit.

"Agent 1. Let's put this operation on hold. We'll leave this emergency point at their replica, or fake, version of the Blackbelly Skatepark" Agent 2 said as Agent 1 picks herself up and wipes her tears.

"Yeah… Let's go back…" Agent 1 accepts.

The trio gloomily leave with a zapfish towards the orange sky as the sun is setting.

Fortunately, their first part of the mission has been accomplished.
