Jaune 's heart pounded hard in his chest as he ran as fast as he could towards the end of hallway . His breathing was labored, every breath felt like it had taken everything within him. He couldn't let her win this battle! It was over! He stopped in front of the doorway, his eyes filled with horror as he saw Cinder standing inside the room .
The black haired woman was wearing a confident smirk on her lips and her hands were raised high in triumph as her orange aura spread outward. On the ground beside Cinder was the body of one Weiss Schnee . Blood pooled around her limp form. Her face looked so peaceful. So serene. She was dead, he couldn't believe it… Cinder had killed Weiss!
A cold feeling enveloped his heart as he watched the scene unfold before him. His friend was lying there unconscious and blood was flowing from her chest, pouring out onto the floor. His fingers curled around the handle of his sheathed sword as anger began to cloud his mind. How dare she kill Weiss?!How dare she take another one of his friends away?!
"I'm going to make you pay for what you did!" Jaune shouted at her with rage filling his chest as he drew his sword and burst forward into the room with an enraged yell.
Cinder didn't even turn toward him when he burst through the doorway, she only laughed, mocking laughter. The sound echoed throughout the silent hallways. Jaune growled at her and advanced further into the room.
"You can't do anything to me!" She continued laughing.
"Yes I can! I won't stop until you regret everything you've done!" Jaune yelled back. Anger began to bubble up inside of him, he clenched his teeth together. He would not be intimidated by anyone! Not anymore! Not since Pyrrha had died.
"Oh? You think you have anything that can defeat me?" Cinder turned toward Jaune now and her smile faltered slightly upon seeing the expression written across the teen's face. She wasn't expecting this reaction. She's seen the expression before on her own face whenever she looked in the mirror but she had never expected this reaction from him. Her heart skipped a beat and a feeling of fear began to rise up inside of her.
She thought this boy was some naive fool but she was wrong. He was just as dangerous as she was.
He was just as strong willed and stubborn as she was. And right now he was staring at her with blazing blue eyes, fury evident on each side of his features. His sword was gripped tightly in his hand, blade pointing downward.
Suddenly Jaune rushed forward swinging his blade at Cinder with killing intent radiating off of him. The girl barely managed to dodge the attack and raised her arm, summoning her Semblance and firing a blast of fire at Jaune. This time however, Jaune dodged the attack and continued to advance upon Cinder. The girl gritted her teeth before sending a quick volley of fire balls at the boy. Jaune leapt to side , narrowly avoiding the attack.
The two fought furiously against one another, throwing themselves into a full blown battle. Neither wanted to lose and they both refused to allow the other to survive.
Jaune swung his sword, slicing at Cinder's neck. The girl ducked and slashed at his arm, causing him to stumble. He glared at her before lunging again at her with more ferocity. Cinder rolled out of the way and fired another blast of fire at him. This time, Jaune wasn't able to dodge the attack and he crashed to the ground. With one swift motion he flipped himself over so that he was kneeling on the ground facing Cinder. As soon as he landed on his feet, he charged at her once again. He threw all his strength behind his attack.
As Jaune closed in on Cinder, he brought down his sword and cut at her stomach, forcing her to fall back.
A pair of swords appeared in her hands and she launched them at him, striking him in the chest and abdomen. Jaune stumbled backwards and fell back on the ground, gasping for air. Before Cinder could follow up with another attack, he quickly got to his feet and thrust his sword forward towards her. She evaded the swing with ease. She grinned cockily as she stood straight before him, arms at her side, ready to attack once again.
Their swords clashed violently against one another, sparks flying from the collision of metal and magic. Jaune grunted and pushed forward, pushing back against the force of Cinder's attacks. She retaliated, parrying and countering his attack. Their movements were almost choreographed; neither wanting to give the other an opening. They moved so fluidly and in sync that it looked like they were dancing instead of fighting . Every few seconds, their blades connected with a satisfying clang. Sparks flew around them and they took several steps back to regain their balance.
They stood there panting harshly, chests rising rapidly. Their muscles ached as they struggled to get a grip. They stared at each other with wild gazes. They couldn't seem to bring themselves to look away from the others.
"Are you ready to surrender?" Cinder taunted lightly.
"Never." Jaune stated firmly.
There was something else lurking behind those blue orbs, Something dark and consuming. The same thing Cinder seemed to carry within her own gaze. The same thing she hide behind a mask.
