Madeleine and Financier's boots stepped on the soft leaves on the lush dark grass of the forest. They weren't on any particular mission, just exploring. The forest was known to have some monsters but today silence persisted. Atmosphere was crisp as the sky cleared the clouds to reveal a stark blue.
"Are you at ease knowing we have nothing to be worrying about?" Madeleine smiled, trailing behind Financier.
"Yes, luckily there hasn't been any large threats to the city." She leaned in, keeping an eye out for any dangerous activity.
There was a slight rustling in the bushes but no clear creature. It irked Financier as she wanted to deal with it instead of waiting.
"What do you presume that was?" Financier questioned, narrowing her eyes before turning to Madeleine.
"It's probably just some ol cake hound." Madeleine assured her, watching her sword.
She turned away in silence, continuing to walk near the tree to get a better look. As her hands touched the leaves, her eyes saw light footprints. It was silent for a moment before a cake wolf ambushed and clawed at Financier with her dodging it. It's eyes surveying the area. Financier took a step forward and stared it in the eye.
Madeleine stood there, eyes open. Witnessing her blade lightly slash the back of the wolf. It whimpered, eyes becoming watery, and its back scarred by a line of strawberry jam. It backed away slowly then picked up its pace in the opposite direction.
"Hm, I wonder what caused that reaction?" She asked, watching the wolf scurry away.
"Perhaps it felt disturbed." Madeleine tried answering, taking a few steps to stand in the same area as her. "You take such quick action. I can see why you're one of the most prestigious in the academy. It makes me glad to be with you." Madeleine responded, their eyes meeting in slight gaze.
