You thought I was a woman?

Short, not especially serious fic, Kai learns something surprising about Selma, and something less surprising about hypnobrai sexual dimorphism.

"Excuse me" said Selma, "did you jussst call me his wife?"

Kai faltered, "uh, well, aren't you?"

A pause, as Selma and Skales both looked between the ninja, each other, and back to the ninja again.

"You thought I was a woman?" said Selma, sounding more surprised then offended, behind him, Skales was chuckling

Kai stammered, waving his arms, "I- well, you're pink!"

Selma raised an eyebrow "you thought that serpentine where color coded?

"No!" Kai puffed out his chest, then deflated, "I mean, I guess I did, but how was I supposed to know? It's not like I've seen any female serpentine"

"Half the ssserpentine down here are female!" Skales interjected

"How many hypnobrai do you see are pink?" Selma asked.

Blushing, Kai looked away, "...a couple" he muttered.

Selma laughed, hands on his knees, he said "Sssso, you thought that of all the hypnobrai here, only a couple were female?"

Kai furrowed his brow, "wait, so is Skales Jr.-"

"He'sss adopted, yes" Selma confirmed.

"When?" Kai asked.

"Right after the Overlord was defeated" said Skales "we didn't have time to raise a child before that"
