Right Fighter, Wrong Game
Chapter 1
"Ouch, my head.".
When the owner of the voice woke up, he looked around and was very confused about what was going on.
"Okay, where am I?" He says, noticing that his voice was very different and somewhat muffled. "Why am I sounding like Tom Hardy's Bane?".
He touches his face and notices something is covering it, a mask, he quickly takes it off and looks at it, it looked like a ninja mask from those mangas and animes he watched, but only after seeing the insignia on it made his body completely stiff.
"Oh no!".
The insignia belonged to the Mortal Kombat's ninja clan of assassins, the Lin Kuei, led by grandmaster Sub-Zero. He takes a look at himself and notices he is entirely dressed in a blue Lin Kuei outfit. (AN: Son of Arctika costume from MK 11)
Taking a deep breath to analyze his current situation the man looks for a mirror, but he doesn't find one, and since he doesn't know where he is, he isn't too keen on looking for one and an idea pops up in his head.
Taking another deep breath, he puts his left leg forward and bends his right knee backward, he puts his hands close to his right rib-cage and then throws them into the nearest wall's direction moving his body forward and making his left knee bend while his right leg is straightened, to his surprise and expectation, ice comes out of his hand, hitting the wall and forming a mirror on it.
The man doesn't waste time contemplating what he just did and looks at his reflection, what he suspected is confirmed when he looks at his face and sees the familiar features and the huge scar still fresh and red on his left eye.
"Okay. I'm Kuai Liang aka Sub-Zero." He says as if it was nothing. "I don't remember dying so it's not reincarnation, I don't do drugs so that's also out of the table, and I didn't make a deal with any god or devil. Well, I'm fucked.".
Putting his mask back on and breaking the mirror with a punch, Sub-zero sits on the floor and closes his eyes, meditation wouldn't help him right now but he would have to think about his predicament sooner or later so it was better to do it now.
'Okay, let's review what happened.' He thinks while trying to ignore his new voice both in his mouth and in his head.
'I got isekaied and now I am Sub-Zero and I probably am in the game universe, best case scenario, I am on Liu Kang's new era, worst case scenario, Shao Kahn becomes ruler of all the realms.'.
He doesn't have time to think more as the door of the place he is in is torn down making him open his eyes and sees the squad of soldiers entering, followed by two women that looked really out of place. The first woman had black hair and brown eyes, she was wearing a blue qipao with golden accents, white boots, large spike bracelets, and a blue leotard with dark brown sheer pantyhose and a blue thong underneath her qipao. The second woman was blond with light blue eyes, dressed in a turtleneck, sleeveless, green thong leotard, a red beret, red socks and black calf-high combat boots, and red gauntlets.
"Greetings.". Sub-zero says still in his meditating pose with no idea what to do except, go with the flow. "May I help you?".
"Where is she?". The dark-haired woman asks.
"Could you be more specific?" The new grandmaster, apprentice, teacher, and everything else of the Lin Kuei says moving his head to look at the woman in the eyes.
"Juri, where is she?". The blonde says narrowing her eyes at Sub-zero.
"I have no idea whom you are talking about," Sub-zero says, as far as he knew Mortal Kombat never had any character name Juri. "Feel free to look for her, although I assure you, this place was empty since the moment I arrived here.".
After signing with her head, the armed men start to search the place letting Sub-zero alone with the two ladies whom he had to admit, were arguably the most gorgeous women he had ever seen and met.
"May I know your names?" Sub-zero asked finally getting on his feet but noticing the slight change in the women's stances. 'Well, looks like I have Sub-zero's abilities and eyesight as well and not just his powers if I can notice they preparing to engage in physical combat.'.
"I am Chun-li, this is my partner, Cammy.". Chun-li says pointing at herself and her partner who was sizing Sub-zero from head to toe.
"Who are you?" Cammy asks with a frow and crossed arms.
"Kuai Liang.". Sub-zero responds knowing that using his codename was a bad idea considering he was a ninja assassin in the games.
"Aren't you too far away from the mainland?" Chun-li says with a smile.
"You have no idea.".
"Eastern China? Your accent sounds like it.".
"No, I'm afraid not.". Sub-zero says not knowing what answer to give since he didn't know exactly where the Lin Kuei clan stays. 'Otherwise, they wouldn't be a secret clan.'.
The soldiers return after not finding anything nor anyone and report all to Chun-li and her partner, it was obvious but Sub-zero deduced that these two are the leaders of whatever this operation was.
"May I ask who is this person you are looking for and why are looking for them?". Sub-zero asks, wondering if they will invent an excuse to accuse him of being an accomplice of this Juri they are looking for.
"Juri Han, a known killer who is on the loose.". Chun-li says crossing her arms like Cammy probably not convinced that Sub-zero is innocent.
"We had information that she would be here." Cammy completed, making Sub-zero notice their behavior was an act, and on the inside, both women were on edge.
"And I am the unlucky person who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.". Sub-zero says looking at the guards who were now surrounding him. "Have to say, this is very imprudent considering you have no proof that connects this woman with me.".
"Then is a good thing we aren't imprudent.". Chun-li says with an easy-going smile. "How about you come with us to explain everything and avoid misunderstandings.".
"Let me guess. After I prove my innocence, you are still going to lock me up in a cell to prevent risks and after the risks are passed you are going to let me go with only an apology hoping it's enough for unjustly arresting me?!".
"Would you rather be accused of obstruction of justice?". Cammy says narrowing her eyes more, if she was trying to look intimidating it failed since Sub-zero thought it made her look cute.
"*sigh* How about this? If one of you defeat me in a fight I will go with you, if I win, you let me go free." Sub-zero says trying to sound as cocky and arrogant as he can, given that his voice sounds wise because of his rank as grandmaster.
All soldiers point their weapons at Sub-zero who responds only by making the air on the place fall by a few degrees, the last thing he needs is these two women to find out about his powers but the tension was making him do it involuntarily.
"I think it's better for you to just comply Mr. Kuai Liang, even if you defeat any or all of us you would still be monitored and under surveillance by the higher-ups' orders.". Chun-li says with a tone of victory, knowing that logic couldn't be defeated by punches.
"Very well.". Sub-zero says with a defeated tone closing his eyes and taking deep breaths until he opens them again to speak. "But I warn you, I am not going to be placed in a cell, I assure you.".
Chun-li doesn't respond although Cammy's body language showed that she had a lot of things to say, not giving the Lin Kuei ninja an answer, she just turns around with Cammy following right behind, seeing that they want him in front of them the soldiers signed to Sub-zero to follow the two of them, he doesn't argue, right know it's best to keep his head cool.
'This is going to be a long day.'.

Inside an interrogation room, Sub-zero is sitting on a chair made of metal, with his arms over a table also made of metal, either this place didn't want to pay for comfort and decoration, or they didn't care since Chun-li was sitting in front of him on an identical chair.
"So, let's start from the beginning.". Chun-li says with a friendly tone, putting her leg above the other, if it was a method of seduction it failed thanks to Sub-zero years of practice and self-control. "Why were you in that abandoned building?".
"It's raining Ms. Li, I rather not get wet, I heard that can get you quite the cold.". Sub-zero says trying to not laugh at his bad quip and also thanking the fact that it was raining, otherwise, he would have to invent another excuse.
"And you didn't see or heard anything while there?". Cammy said with a harsh voice, crossing her arms under her chest probably trying to imitate Chin-li but Sub-zero only looks at her eyes.
"Precisely.". Sub-zero says trying not to roll his eyes in their obvious attempt of distraction and seduction. 'They are using the bad cop good cop tactic and trying to seduce me, why is it wrong men objectify women but not when women objectify themselves? Meh, not my problem, I'm gonna leave this debate to Twitter.'.
"Can you prove it?" Chun-li asks.
"You searched the entire place, didn't you?! Have you found any DNA trace of the woman you're looking for in there?" Sub-zero says crossing his arms to show them his biceps trying to pay both women with the same coin. 'I'm probably making a fool of myself but they started.'.
"No, unfortunately, we didn't.". Cammy says quickly taking a glimpse at Sub-zero's muscles and failing at not letting him notice.
'Did she just blush?'. Thinks Sub-zero before deciding to speak. "There, you have it, can I go now?".
"Just some more question Mr. Liang.". Chun-li says while adjusting her posture after noticing seduction wasn't going to work against him. "Why are you here in Metro City?".
"Looking for a friend." He lies, he had no idea why this city was called this but since he didn't see a blue big-headed man, he didn't question it. "Asian, good fighter, wears a red bandana. I hope you excuse me for not telling his name. I don't want him to be dragged into this.".
Liu Kang wasn't something Sub-zero would call a friend, but in the games, the two of them had a certain amount of respect for each other, and since Johnny Cage lived in Los Angeles and these two may know of Sonya, Jax and Stryker Sub-zero also couldn't use them as an excuse.
'And something tells me Kung Lao is a bad option, it makes my Lin Kuei sense tingle.'.
Hearing Sub-zero's words both women felt a click on their heads and share a quick look between them. Sub-zero is taken by surprise when both of them get up and tell him he was free to go.
"Wow, that easy?". Sub-zero says tilting his head to the side, he thought it was a trap despite his guts telling him otherwise.
"Yes, you can go now.". Chun-li says nodding her head in respect, Cammy following suit. "Go to your friend, and please, stay out of trouble Mr. Liang.".
"Just one more question. Why the ninja outfit?" Cammy asks with genuine curiosity.
Sub-zero looks at the two head to toe and while his outfit wasn't something common people with common sense would use, they weren't wearing something that normal women wear, maybe on the beach in Cammy's case.
"I can't tell if this is a serious question or not considering your outfits aren't the most casual.".
"I know, but this is our 'battle gear', we used only when we are sure there will be combat.". Cammy says.
"All right them. If you want to know, I wearing it for the same reason as you, battle gear, I'm getting ready for a tournament.".
Once again Cammy and Chun-li trade glances, with no more questions Sub-zero bids farewell to the two ladies and walks out of the room, he had a lot of questions on his mind and no answer.
'No money, no documents, and I'm pretty sure the boat that takes the fighters to Shang Tsung's island won't pass through this city. Man, am I in trouble?!'.
After Sub-zero left, Chun-Li and Cammy were in Chun-Li's office discussing their new acquaintance, safe to say, they found him interesting, intriguing, and a puzzle that needed solving.
"This is complicated.". Chun-li says while stretching herself on her chair due to how tiresome the situation is. "We have a clue about Juri's whereabouts, we go there and find nothing about her or her objectives, I know she isn't an amateur but no prints or DNA traces complicates things, then there is Kuai Liang.".
"Do you believe his story?". Cammy asks with her hand on her chin trying to find any hole in Kuai Liang's story.
"That he has nothing related to Juri, yes, Ryu wouldn't make friends with someone like her. That he was just unlucky to get caught in this situation, no.". Chun-li says, she gets off her chair and goes to the window to look at the city. "I wonder if we should talk to Ryu, Kuai Liang clearly knows him after that precise description, and he said he was looking for him and he was getting ready for a tournament.".
"Do you think he will participate in the new tournament?" Cammy says standing beside Chun-li. "I mean he said he was preparing but from what I heard there is a selected method to participate, you either get invited or you gather enough 'points' to enter.".
Chun-li doesn't comment on Cammy's words, too much busy evaluating the situation. She stops looking at the window and returns to her desk, she opens one of the drawers and pulls out two papers giving one to Cammy who reads it with a neutral expression soon followed by shock.
"You are right!". Chun-li says looking at her own paper. "One of the methods to participate in this tournament is being invited. And we will participate.".
"Why?" Cammy asks in genuine confusion while reading her invitation, wondering if she got one because she participated in the last tournament.
"Because we went to that place looking for Juri only to find Kuai Liang. Kuai Liang said he was looking for Ryu and was preparing for the tournament. Knowing Ryu, he will participate as well. My gut is telling me Juri will also be in the tournament. That is why we are going.". Chun-li says determined to go to the end with her plan.
"That is a long shot Chun-li.".
"It is the only one at the table.".
"What about Kuai Liang? Back at that place, he was willing to fight all of us, don't take me wrong but, we both know what happened the last time we fought someone who didn't care about number disadvantage, and he is a completely unknown.". Says Cammy reminding herself and Chun-li about their first encounter with Juri and the phantom pains that still linger in her body because of that glowing eye thing.
"I'll admit. A part of me wants to fight him, aren't you curious to see how good of a fighter he is?".
"…Fine you got me.". Cammy says with a smile.
In the docs Sub-zero wasn't expecting to really see Shang Tsung's boat, he doesn't even know when the tournament would start, but he was also not expecting to see a lot of thugs, or whatever they are or trying to be, reunited on this place. With nothing to do, the Lin Kuei ninja approaches the group of people and sees what they are doing and isn't surprised by their activity, it was a street fight. One of the fighters was a huge man with shoulder-length black hair that covered most of his face, leaving only the nose, mouth, and chin uncovered. His opponent wasn't someone of notice, it was the typical thug, with a red bandana, a sleeveless jacket with a black wife-beater shirt underneath, camouflaged pants, and fingerless gloves.
From the chants, the huge man was called Hugo making the ninja smirk under his mask due to the irony, while the generic thug was called Ralf. (AN: Just a reference, obviously he is not Ralf Jones)
Either the fight didn't take long or Sub-zero arrived at the end since Hugo wins after a well-delivered punch on Ralf's stomach that makes him fall to the ground with Sub-zero being the only one to hear the cracks of his ribs due to his training.
After the fight is over and both fighters leave the center of the circle, Ralf being carried away by his group, a fat man enters the center and lifts his hand in the air as if asking for silence, Sub-zero looks around and notices the effect is immediate as everyone was quiet and paying attention to the man.
"All right this kung fu master here is happy with tonight's performances. You are all making Rufus here a very proud man." Says the man identified as Rufus shaking and tapping his belly with a goofy laugh. "But now the playtime is over. Now it is time for the big action, now that everyone is on the hype I ask you, which one will be the first to fight tonight?".
"I will." Says one man taking a step forward and starting to walk toward Rufus, he has a peculiar appearance in Sub-zero's opinion, he was pure muscle and a smile that showed his teeth and his pink lower lips, and his face had a tattoo that resembled the M letter, he was wearing a choker with spikes on his neck and had two large bracelets made out of tires around his arms. If he had four arms this guy could be Durok, Goro's brother. "The name is Abigail, and you maggots better remember, because it will be your final memory after I knock you out and you first after you wake up in the hospital.".
While many felt intimidated by Abigail's words, and his sheer size, Sub-zero didn't share the feeling, even after hearing some people comment on him being part of a Mad Gear Gang, whatever that is supposed to mean in the underworld.
'Sounds lame compared to the Black Dragons, considering they were world-spread weapon dealers.'.
"Woah! This is what I am talking about baby." Says Rufus looking at Abigail before turning back to the crowd. "So, is there anyone interested in challenging our first fighter?".
Sub-zero looks around and sees that people are still afraid and intimidated except for Hugo and a pink-haired woman, who had a voice too deep in the Lin Kuei assassin's opinion, who were both cheering for Abigail. 'Ah, why not?!'.
Taking a step forward Sub-zero starts to walk ahead, due to his training he wasn't feeling nervous despite the size of his opponent and the silence that was engulfing the crowd. Stopping in front of Abigail and Rufus the Lin Kuei assassin looks at them and talks in his calm, composed, and cold voice. "I accept the challenge.".
"And who are you?" Rufus says smiling, either because he was anxious to see the fight or because he thought Abigail would make quick work of Sub-zero.
"Sub-zero.".
"Very well. Here we have it folks, the first fight of the night. Abigail versus Sub-zero. Make your bets, for the winners, money and whatever riches there are, to the loser the vision of the winners getting their money and whatever riches they bet." Rufus says with a joyous scream.
Abigail looks at Sub-zero still smirking from ear to ear, probably evaluating his opponent, he was cocky, but considering his size Sub-zero couldn't blame him, but the size of your opponent isn't everything against a man who fought Goro and Kintaro at the same time in a weakened state.
Fight
Abigail throws the first punch which is evaded by Sub-zero who just took a small step to the side, Abigail then tries quick punches like a machine gun but once again Sub-zero evades, this time taking a step back.
Sub-zero decides to attack with a Roundhouse kick followed by a brutal thrown kick, both hitting Abigail in the head who takes a step back to recover. The crowd who was completely silenced started to murmur wondering who was the newcomer as they have never seen him before.
Sub-zero is surprised with how agile Abigail was due to his size and how he managed to flip in the air and punched the ground with both hands, unfortunately for the giant, the Lin Kuei ninja avoids it by quickly jumping backward.
Sub-zero attacks again, a punch in the face, in the neck followed by a kick in the waist section, making Abigail step back again, taking advantage of the window given Sub-zero kicks Abigail in the knee making him take a step back with his other foot and punches him in the stomach.
Enraged Abigail charges at Sub-zero trying to grab the ninja but this time Sub-zero evades by jumping over Abigail and flipping while in the air, perfectly landing on his feet behind the giant man who is too slow to turn around and is punched once again, this time with an uppercut that by the sound of it managed to break a few teeth and launched Abigail in the air, who landed on his back a few feet away from Sub-zero.
The crowd now was static, the ninja could see that no one was expecting him to land a hit on Abigail, even less dominating the fight, a few were still silent, mainly Hugo and the pink-haired woman, and another woman on the other side of the crowd with black hair and purple eyes that showed hunger, and a smile on her face while she licked her lips.
Abigail, foolish enough, let himself get caught in Sub-zero's trap, a well-trained assassin like him knew ordinary people would think his act of looking at the crowd was because they were distracted, and from the looks of it the purple-eyes woman noticed Sub-zero's tactic, but it was only what Sub-zero wanted Abigail to think, and when the giant man was close enough Sub-zero evades his predictable attack and counters it with punching him in the face two times followed by a kick in the ribs, certainly breaking a few of them, lunching him a few meters away from the ninja, this time the giant wouldn't get up.
The crowd was completely silenced but it only lasted a few seconds before they started cheering and yelling at Sub-zero, the ninja wonders how long they will stay like this once they realize most of them probably lose their bet since it was obvious none believed he could win and much less believed that bet on him would be the right choice.
After Hugo and the pink-haired woman help take Abigail out of the 'arena' Rufus approaches Sub-zero and lifts the ninja's hands clearly happy that the ninja won, considering he was the headmaster of the betting scheme Sub-zero just made him win a lot of money. "Here is your winner. SUB-ZERO!". With the crowd cheering Rufus takes the opportunity to whisper in the ninja's ears. "Meet me when the fights are over to collect your payment, you just made this man very happy.".
With a nod, Sub-zero walks away and lets Rufus continue with his job, he goes back to the crowd noticing the woman from before has moved right beside him. Taking a look at her Sub-zero would be drowning in his own saliva were it not for his training, if Chun-li and Cammy were gorgeous, this woman was a goddess, at least in his opinion, thankfully for him, he was trained to fight gods, be in combat or other things and like those two from before her beauty wouldn't work on the Lin Kuei assassin.
"Nice fight." The woman says in a relaxed way, with a voice that sounded like moaning.
Sub-zero looks at her and sees she was a fighter as well by the way she was carrying herself and her posture. Her clothes were a purple dudou on her chest supported with eight straps that meet on her back forming a spider pattern. Long, baggy, off-white sweatpants and purple tights, and long, fingerless gloves. Her fingernails and toenails are painted bright pink, and she has dark hair styled into two horns on top of her head, which appear to be fastened with pink ribbons. For last, she was wearing Taekwondo foot wraps on her feet.
"Thanks.". Sub-zero says with an emotionless voice and expression that for some reason made the woman smiles again.
The woman puts her hand between her breasts and pulls a piece of paper, giving it to the ninja who asks her with his eyes what it is.
"It's an invitation for the upcoming world tournament, I was going to give it to the guy you defeated just like I gave it to the other big guy and the pink-haired he-lady." She says with a sneer while looking at the after-mentioned people, she looks back at Sub-zero and looks at him from head to toe licking her lips. "But I think I found someone more interesting.".
"Okay, and was there a reason as to why you kept this on your chest?" Sub-zero asks making her for some reason think she needed to sway her hips to the side before answering, and Sub-zero didn't think she had the same intentions as Chun-li and Cammy.
"Not really. They were actually in my pocket before the fight started.". She says with a carefree tone and still moaning voice. "After the fight ended, I changed the place I kept it since I wanted to have you looking at it, after that fight you deserved it.".
"Careful lady. Some people would see that as an invitation.".
"As long as it's the people I want to see it as an invitation I don't care." She says swaying her hips again. "I'll see you at the tournament, I hope we have a match, and who knows, if you win, it might become an invitation.".
She gives Sub-zero a wink before turning around leaning her rear and once again, swaying her hips for the ninja before starting to walk normally this time and with a fighter posture, whoever she was Sub-zero knew that she was a good fighter by the way she moved herself and the slight movements of her head that showed awareness of the surroundings.
After the mysterious woman was out of sight Sub-zero looks at the tournament invitation he received, it was a red paper written in white letters, and whatever it was, it was definitely not the invitation to the Mortal Kombat tournament for it was called; The World Fighting Tournament. Unlike the Mortal Kombat tournament, this one wasn't sponsored by the Elder Gods or Outworld but by a company by the name of S.I.N.
'Considering the initials of the sponsors can form the word 'sin' it might as well be a tournament hosted by an evil wizard or warlord.'. Sub-zero thinks in a sarcastic tone before putting the invitation on his clothes and turning his attention back to the fights, he didn't let the anxiety go over his head but he wanted to know who else was going to fight in this tournament. 'It's not like I can just go around hoping to find the way back home, if there is one, sometimes, you just got to go with it, besides, who knows what I stand to gain with this tournament.'.
Leaving the thoughts for another time, the Link Kuei assassin turns his attention back to the fight and waits.
Sitting on a chair at the airport Sub-zero calmly waits, the invitation he received from that woman had instructions at the back, it said that on the day of the travel he should await at a specific section of the airport along with the other fighters, where one of the employees of the tournament's host would greet them and guide them to the airplane that would take them to where the tournament would take place.
The cryomancer was feeling great. After Rufus paid him the money for that fight, Sub-zero spent it on the most expensive and luxurious Hotel in Metro City, he was gonna travel for the tournament the next day so he saw no reason to spare the expenses. Speaking of Rufus, he didn't expect to see him at the airport, but apparently, he was also selected to participate, along with him was Hugo and the pink-haired woman, who was glaring at Sub-zero, probably angry at the fact that his victory cost their friend a shot in the tournament, but he didn't care, it was a fair fight, or at least, as fair street fights can be, and Rufus didn't say any rules so they couldn't accuse Sub-zero of cheating.
Looking at the other people Sub-zero sees others that are also likely to be the other competitors, none of them stands out but like him, they could probably be hiding their true power, after all, knowledge in a battle wins as much as hitting the opponent without missing. Of all the combatants the ones that stood out the most to him were two, the first was the blonde man wearing a sleeveless red kimono with brown gloves and a black belt. The second person was a woman with crimson hair wearing a suit that didn't look fit for combat, but Sub-zero wasn't one to judge so he just stood still ignoring her looking at him and still not noticing he noticed her.
Trying to meditate the best he could while sitting on an airport chair Sub-zero closes his eyes and starts to think about the possibilities this tournament could give him, if he couldn't return to his world, he already decided last night that he would use the money, if he wins, to construct a new Lin Kuei temple, because something was telling him that it didn't exist and to add insult to injury, he was starting to believe that he wasn't really on the Mortal Kombat universe.
Before Sub-zero could ponder more on the matter he is interrupted by two voices he recognizes immediately as the two women who almost arrested him, opening his eyes he sees Chun-li and Cammy, on their 'battle gear', each one sitting in one of his sides, Chun-li on his left, Cammy on his right.
"Did you hear me?" Chun-li says with a smile, the intention behind the action Sub-zero didn't know. "I asked you if you found your friend.".
"No. I'm afraid I haven't." Sub-zero answers and notices the two girls change glances between each other before their faces focus on the blond man in the red kimono Sub-zero saw before.
They sign with their hands to the man who takes notice of it and approach the three, Sub-zero's gut was telling him there's a headache on the way, and when the man is in front of them it starts.
"Chun-li, Cammy. Long time no see.". He says with a smile offering them his hands at the same time, Chun-li and Cammy shake them without a thought, and the man then proceeds to look at Sub-zero, curious about him. "And who you might be?".
"Sub-zero.". He says, he was in his fighter mode now so there was no reason to use his real name, Chun-li and Cammy give him weird looks due to his assassin's name but he ignores them, Sub-zero then offers his hand for the man to shake and he accepts.
"Ken Masters.". Ken says, he looks at the two women after shaking hands with Sub-zero. "Is there something you wanted to talk about with me?".
"Yes, Ken.". Chun-li says, pausing and looking at Sub-zero before turning her attention back to Ken. "Have you seen Ryu?".
"No, I can't say I have.". Ken says scratching the back of his hair not understanding what they might want with Ryu. "Did something happen to him?".
"No.". Cammy says quickly to avoid misunderstandings. "It's just that 'Sub-zero' here told us he was in town, so we thought he came in contact with you.".
"What?!" Sub-zero says in shock and leaning forward on his chair. "When did I ever say that?".
The three of them look at the Lin Kuei ninja in confusion, Ken because he doesn't know what is going on, and Chun-li and Cammy because something was clearly out of place.
"Yesterday.". Chun-li says narrowing her eyes. "You had told us that you were looking for a friend, Asian, good fighter, wears a red bandana. That description fit Ryu, someone the three of us are acquainted with. It's why we had let you go.".
"Then blame yourself for your mistake.". Sub-zero says crossing his arms. "I did say those words, but the friend I was talking about isn't this Ryu, whomever he is. My friend is called Liu Kang.".
The three fighters make a deadpanned face, although Ken was clearly trying not to laugh at the two women because of the mistake they've made, while Chun-li and Cammy were trying not to cringe for committing such a rookie mistake.
Not being able to hold back any longer Ken starts to laugh hard, but not too loud, Sub-zero watches with amusement the man enjoying the moment and the women staring daggers at him even though he wasn't at fault.
"Oh boy, that was good.". Ken says wiping out a tear from his eye while holding his stomach with his other hand. "If Ryu is in this tournament, which I'm sure he is, I'll need to tell him about this.".
"I should just take you back to Interpool's HQ.". Chun-li says rubbing the bridge of her nose, the higher-up would throw a fit at her if they learned what transpired. "But I'm already here and the tournament might give me more fruitful results than arresting you.".
"If it makes you feel better, in the tournament you will have the perfect excuse to punch me in the face." Sub-zero jokes but due to his neutral tone, the only one who laughs is Ken.
"True true.". Ken says nodding.
"After this, I will make sure I'll do more than punch you.". Cammy says crossing her arms and closing her eyes, by the looks of it, she was trying to meditate like Sub-zero was, Chun-li follow suit and both men just look at each other and shrug at each other with their shoulders.
Author's note: I was thinking of making this story with Reptile or Mileena instead of Sub-zero but it didn't flow so the lin kuei it is.
Anyway, this story will be loosely based on Street Fighter 4, since I'm horrible at SF (both games and lore) don't expect too many similarities with the original canon.
