"I will be sure to visit soon," the Sage rabbit told the Pocket Elf, basking in the spotlight of sunshine. The Pocket Elf bowed and started back towards Marinette's.
Back at Marinette's cabin….
"I don't understand, Kitty. Why is the garden not ripe?" Marinette asked, looking over her garden. Okay, the garden was growing nicely, but soon it would be time to bring in the harvest before Old Man Winter showed his wintry face. "Have patience, love. There's still time." Marinette went back into the house and Cat followed her. "Where's your pocket elf?" "Oh, she wandered off sometime this morning, but she'll be back. Care for some hot chocolate, Kitty?" Cat nodded. Marinette poured the sweet smelling powder into the mugs and then poured milk into the pan, clicking on the stove for it to boil.
A sudden deluge of rain, had her looking out the window and she sighed with annoyance. "Even if I wanted to pick the vegetables, I couldn't with all this rain!"
Cat walked over to place his hands on her shoulders. "It will be alright, Marinette. You'll see." Marinette whirled and faced him. "If I don't harvest the crops, I won't have anything to eat! I'm not rich like you, Cat Noir!"
As soon as she said the words, Marinette wanted to call them back. "I'm-I'm sorry," she stammered, her face a burning red color. "I'm going to go home. Bye, Princess," Cat wouldn't even look at her as he splashed out into the rain.
"What have I done?" Marinette whispers, as she watched Cat go. "He will forgive you, but it will take time," a unfamiliar voice told her. Marinette spun around and a small white bunny? Hare? Was in her kitchen, with her pocket elf riding a top its back. She peered intently at the small sodden bundle of fluff. "Your no ordinary hare, are you?" she asked. "I'm the Sage Hare. With my help and magic your garden will be bursting with harvest." Marinette looked slightly sick. "I don't think I want that, now. Cat and I had a fight," she whispered. "How about we dry off by the fire, and you can tell us about it?" her elf said, and Marinette nodded.
"So, she thinks I'm rich, does she?" Cat kicked over a chair in his cabin, his emotions raw and unleashed like a wild animal. "Then I'm no better then my father, Hawkmoth!" He hadn't told Marinette that the man in the purple suit had been been his father. "She's right, but I would give it all away in a heartbeat. I don't want to be my father!" He walked over to the mirror and wished he hadn't.
His father was in his features: from the blonde hair, to the strong jawline. The one bright spot was he had his mother's eyes. Adrien chocked back the sobs, and yelled for his Cataclysm, sending the mirror to shatter into a million tiny fragments, just like his heart. "Claws In," he mumbled sinking to the floor while outside the moon hid behind the clouds.
The Sage Rabbit looked at Marinette her little nose twitching. "When there's anger your love can't grow, just like the garden outside. When you patch up things with Cat, only then will the garden be ready to harvest. But you must go now, Marinette. For Cat Noir should not be left alone this night."
Something told Marinette that the rabbit was right, and she grabbed her cloak and headed out into the rainy night. The rain soaked her in a instant, but Marinette barely felt into, intent to get to Cat Noir's.
"Cat?" She cracked the door open, and tiptoed inside. "Cat!" she exclaimed as she saw the broken shards of mirror and Cat rolled up into a ball. "Are you hurt?" she asks, not waiting for a answer, she begin to check him for cuts, blood, or bruises, breathing a silent sigh of relief when she didn't find anything. "Princess," Cat whispered. "Yes?" "I have something to tell you, but first change of those wet clothes before you catch cold."
Marinette changed into the sweats Cat kept her her, but even dry she felt shaky. Cat was now sitting on the bed, and pulled her close. "Marinette, my father is Hawkmoth. What you said today, you were right. I'll end up just like him, cruel and alone." "Cat, I should have never said those awful words to you! I love you. And if your father is Hawkmoth and he comes back, we'll face him together."
Marinette looked at the box, containing the Ladybug Miraculous that Cat kept here. "I never want him to touch you, Marinette." The rain was gentler now, and he shifted his head to look at her. "I am sorry, Cat Noir. Do you forgive me?" "You still love me even after I tell you my father is a villain?" "He's not you, Cat. You are your own person, and the kindest one in the world at that." "Then, yes, Princess. Apology expected." Marinette closed the distance between them, and they kissed.
Cat held her around the waist, wanting to the ask the question, but he knew it wasn't the right time yet. "You can sleep on the couch tonight, if you want." Marinette yawned, suddenly aware of the late hour. "Thanks, I'll take you up on it."
Outside, the Sage Rabbit hopped away, ready to perform. He heard everything the two had said, both with his fluffy ears and his sage ones.
"Cat, look! Its a miracle!" Marinette's voice rose with excitement as they came into her garden. The garden was finally ready to harvest, and she felt a sense of relief. Old Man Winter to could come now, if he liked. The rabbit was right, Marinette thought. Cat and I made up, and like the garden our love flourished.
For the rest of day, Marinette and Cat worked in the garden, smiling and brushing each other with touches. The Pocket Elf watched the flirtations from her spot on a leaf. They were in love, she thought, but not ready to tie the knot. But that would come soon enough.
