Secret Crisis: Battleworld Chapter 4
S.T.A.R Labs,
"Okay that was clearly a mission failed" said Barry.
"Nah. Nah. It ain't over. You said The Legends wen their separate ways a while ago right? We just gotta find them and hopefully convince Sara again after we get the team back together again." said Eddie.
"From what I can recall, Gary and Gideon live together in a small, quaint little apartment here in the city. Brooklyn I think. Same goes for Spooner, Astra, Zari, Behrad as well." Explained Constantine.
"Any idea if we can find them?" Asked Eddie.
"Astra occasionally stops by over at the Sanctum with Wong. She's been meaning to learn more the ways of the Mystic Arts or whatever bullocks she was on about. Zari and Behrad went on to be the dynamic Social Media influencer duo with some heavy hitting legal representation. Gary and Gideon simply just eloped and got jobs over at some place called the Future Foundation." Explained Constantine.
"And Ava?" Asked Barry.
"She's got a place in queens. Works for the DODC" said Constantine.
"The DODC?" Asked Peter-3.
"Department of Damage Control mate. They've been keeping tabs on any unwanted incidents to clean it up before Kang's Sherriff could notice." Constantine explained.
"Alright so. Who do we find first?" Asked MJ.
"I vote we split up to speed things up." said Loki.
"If it gets us to cover more ground and speed this operation up, I'm in." said Sylvie.
"So who goes to find who?" Asked Mobius.
"Peter-3, Eddie, Thor, Nat and I will go, Constantine will come with us." said Barry.
"Sylvie and I will go find Zari and Behrad" said Loki
"I'll take MJ and Ned to find the newlyweds" said Mobius.
"Good. We'll meet back here once we round up the Legends." said Barry
Ava's apartment, Queens
Constantine portals the group right inside her apartment as it was empty.
"So this is her apartment?" Asked Barry.
"Yep. Been here a few times just to check in. How else would I know where she lived mate?" he asked.
"Anything else we should know about? After Sara I rather not take any chances" said Barry.
"Well, after her break up with Sara and getting a job with the DODC, poor thing's been dealing with some depression and stress from the job" said Constantine.
"Oh boy I already see where this is going" said Natasha.
"Exactly love." Added Constantine
"Best to once again check your tongue" said Thor.
The sound of keys unlocking a lock was heard with Ava opening the door to her apartment with a sandwich in one hand and a bodega bag filled with cheap powdered donuts and a drink in the other.
"JOHN?" Ava asked with a mouth full of sandwich.
John waved his fingers hello.
"Looking healthy love"
Ava wearing a business suit that's a bit on the tight side, buttons on her top barely clamped on and also strained beyond belief, rounded face, tight fitted pants and high heel shoes on.
She swallowed her sandwich bite and sucked in her gut to hide her weight gain from being with Sara up until their break up added with the stress of working an office job.
"Uhhh. Hey guys? How did you all get in my apartment?" Asked Ava.
"Ava. *exhales* it's okay. Trust me girl, I've been in your position" said Natasha
"As have I" adds Thor
Ava unable to hold it in anymore, finally breaths out as she felt the buttons of her work outfit fly off and her stomach ooze out from her shirt and over the waistband of her pants.
"There ya go" said Natasha.
Ava looking down breaks down into tears with Natasha walking over to comfort her.
"There, there. It's okay." said Natasha giving Ava a hug.
"Shhh. Shhhh. I know, I know. I've been there" said Natasha.
After Ava gets changed into some comfy and clothes that actually fit her, she sits down with the group to talk about the plan.
"Ava. We're gonna fight Kang again. This time, we take back bits of Battleworld one by one, we free Kara, Clark and the other Avengers who got captured over in Warworld, getting Eddie's Symbiote back, bring Peter-1 back to life and take the fight to Kang. But to even start, we're gonna need The Legends and The Waverider." Explained Barry.
Ava opens her powdered donuts and says,
"I'm not talking to Sara."
"Ava please. If we don't stand together we'll never get our lives back and go home" said Peter-3.
"We did stand. And yet here we are. By who's leadership mind you? Natasha's kids from the future dying. Mia and Thor losing an arm. Strange with the goddamn peace treaty. If we didn't stand a chance back then what makes you think we do now?" she asked.
"Because this time we have a plan. Even more so with getting Peter back." Explained Peter-3.
"I do miss that kid." said Ava munching on a donut.
"It's all part of the plan. Once we liberate War World, we head to Kang's Fortress where somewhere in his labs is where we believe he could keep Venom. That's where we'll cause a distraction while Scott and his team will steal the Symbiote." Explained Barry.
"And what about Sara?" Asked Ava.
"We're hoping that getting the gang back together will be enough to convince her this time" said Constantine.
"What do you mean this time?" Asked Ava.
"Peter's friend Ned was able to find the Waverider and her earlier" said Eddie
"And I happened to be the one who zeroed in on their location." adds Natasha.
"So. How was she?" Asked Ava.
"She's seen better days love. And like you, also heavy" said Constantine.
Ava feeling self conscious with a hand in her belly, pulled down her top.
"Sorry" he apologized.
"Who else is part of the plan? What about finding the others?" Asked Ava.
"We've got that taken care of" said Eddie.
Just then, Loki and Sylvie arrive with Zari and Behrad.
"Guys?" Asked Ava as she goes to hug her fellow Legends.
"We missed you too" said Behrad
"Have you been working out?" Asked Zari.
"Actually I have thank you for noticing" Ava said whole patting her belly.
"So. You in?" Asked Barry.
Ava crumpled up the empty package of donuts and stands up to stretch.
"I'm in."
"Good. Now we wait on Mobius and his team with Gary and Gideon." Explained Barry zooming everyone back to Star Labs.
Mobius opens a tempad door as his team was successful in getting Gary and Gideon.
"Ava?" Asked Gary.
The two rush into each other for a reunion hug.
"It's been so long. Definitely gotten softer than the last time I saw you"
As The Legends all have their reunion, it was time to start the next phase of the plan.
"Okay. So, who's ready to go save the Multiverse?" Asked Eddie.
"You guys got room for one more?"
Everyone turns to see where this voice came from as footsteps were heard revealing to be Sara Lance!
"Sara!" said Eddie.
She nods and turned her attention to her team. Especially Ava.
"Hi Ava" Sara nervously said.
"Sara."
The two Co captains walk up to each other after not seeing each other for a very long time.
"Time hasn't been good to you hasn't it?" Asked Ava.
"Not to you either I'm guessing" said Sara.
"Hmph. You got pretty fat babe" said Ava.
"Hey, you aren't that far behind either" said Sara playfully poking her belly.
The two women then broke down into tears and fully embraced one another. Well as best they could cause of how their stomachs got in the way.
"Right" they said.
"The Legends are back in business!" said Sara.
"Reed. It's done!" said Natasha on the comms.
"Wait what?" asked Barry.
"You really didn't think I wouldn't have caught wind of this plan of yours?"Asked Natasha.
"The Legends are on board Romanoff?"
"Affirmative. Assuming we also have the Waverider?" Asked Natasha looking over at Sara.
"Yeah. The ship too" said Sara.
"Good. Operation: SECRET WARS is a go!"
Bart and Nora along with Mia zoom in.
"Is Annie-May on board?" Asked Barry.
"Miguel helped sweeten the deal. She's in." Explained Nora.
"Good. Now the rest of us start getting everyone who's willing to join the cause on our side while Miguel and his team have their mission." Explained Barry.
"Actually that reminds me, I have to go with them, they'll need me." Explained Peter-3.
"Good luck Amazing Spider-Man" said Barry
Peter-3 nods as Constantine sets him off with Miguel and Annie-May for their mission.
"First things first, we head to the Baxter Building. Reed and the Fantastic Four will have a briefing for us waiting. He's also gotten in contact with some of the Avengers that didn't get captured in Warworld along with some of the Defenders and the X-Men." Explained Barry.
"Just...before we go. I owe everyone here an apology. We lost that day when Peter died. I made everyone rush into a battle with no plan and people we cared about died or got hurt. I made things worse that made us lose again. For years I drowned any sense of me taking accountability and my guilt. It cost me my team and the love of my life. And yes we both got fat even before we split. Because I was selfish, self loathing, gave up, and I didn't want to be alone especially feeling responsible for the deaths of not only Peter but Nate and Mick too. I became isolated and grew insane as I was haunted by their ghosts. I would visit Peter's grave. Every day like the guilty fat drunk I became and got him killed."
"Sara..."
"No Barry...just..I couldn't save them. MJ, I'm so sorry. I wish I have save your boyfriend. *sniffles* I still kept one of his suits to remind me of my greatest failure. Keeping a promise that I'd watch his back no matter what. I broke that promise. But now we have a second chance. I. Have a second chance. To make this right. For all of you. For him." said Sara crying again.
MJ walked over to Sara to give her a big hug.
"I never blamed you. *sobs*" said MJ.
"You should have" Sara argued.
"No, no" said MJ.
"Neither of us blamed you Sara. Peter was my best friend. I knew how much he cared about you and how he saw you as an older sister. You should be at fault here" said Ned.
"No one blamed you Sara. Your first Instinct was to use Venom to bring him back because of the healing factor he has. Once we get him back, we can bring Peter back too. Because when it's all said and done, our world still needs its Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" said Eddie.
Sara wipes her face nodding in understanding.
"I think it's finally time Kang is reminded why Sara Lance and her team are the Sacred timeline's greatest defenders" said Loki
*Legends of Tomorrow theme plays*
As her team nods in approval over the return of their captain and Co captain, Sara takes center stage.
"Let's go kick Kang's ass!"
