Louise walked to the kitchen with a jump in her step for her special birthday breakfast, chocolate chip pancakes and chocolate milk
She walked into the doorway and smiled seeing a plate of fresh pancakes waiting for her "happy birthday to me" she exclaimed excitedly before sitting down. It was her fourteenth birthday and she was excited it had been four years since her tenth birthday a.k.a the day she got the best gift ever.
It was too big for their apartment so it was kept in the basement but she still visits and plays with it almost every day
This party was going to be more low-key and this time she only invited Rudy and the pesto twins.
She was excitedly eating her special pancakes when Gene stood up from the table "Louise I will now perform a song I made especially for you" Gene said taking his keyboard out of thin air and playing it before she even had time to object
4 long hours later it was finally time for everyone to come over, the entirety of her birthday was spent playing board games and eating junk food till finally, it was time to open presents, Louise excitedly opened up her gifts quickly
Andy and Ollie got her a new lock-picking kit and she got some boring clothes from her family. She excitedly turned to Rudy for her gift
He was always such a good gift-giver, Rudy's cheeks were red with embarrassment as he handed her the gift "it's not exactly grand and it didn't cost me anything"
It was the shape of a book so she was already disappointed
She ripped off the wrapping paper but was confused when she saw what he had got her
It was a piece of paper encased in a frame with a list of names on it "uh what is this?"
"It's the buddy list, y-you know the one that paired us together the day they met," he said suddenly realizing this may have been a stupid gift, Louise looked closer at the present noticing a name next to Ollies crossed out and Andys was written next to it. The list of names went on and there her name was right next to Rudy's

It hit her that this was the buddy list made that paired her and Rudy up for the field trip, her heart melted a little at the thought that he kept it all these years "oh Rudy this is the sweetest thing anyone has ever gotten me," she said before wrapping her arms around his neck in a hug
He was a little surprised to see how much she liked it but hugged her back smiling. her mom came in and announced it was time for cake so they all shuffled to the kitchen
After all, was said and done Rudy sat on the steps right by the living room eating his cake in peace "hey" he turned around and saw Louise standing there with a slice of cake in her hands
"Hey" she sat down next to him and set her plate of cake down next to her and he did the same "thanks for the present" she thanked him again "ah it's nothing"
"I mean it Rudy that's the most sentimental thing anyone has gotten me, and I don't even mean that in a bad way" they both chuckled, and she placed her hand on his knee "you're a really good friend" he smiled at her for a moment enjoying the moment before his face fell serious, she slowly leaned in and softly placed her lips on his in a kiss
It was nothing like their first two, it wasn't rushed like the one on the playground or out of excitement like the second one. it was out of pure love
Their lips danced together for a couple of seconds before they heard a taunting "ooh" they pulled away to see a smirking Gene leaning over the railing eating cake "Thanks for ruining the moment," Louise said annoyed and he smiled proudly "anytime sis," he said before walking off to the kitchen to get more cake
Words couldn't express how annoying Gene was sometimes
Rudy looked at her with a smile and a blush on his face "so what was that"
She just playfully rolled her eyes "I was excited ok" he kissed her again before she could start fake denying that the kiss meant anything to save face, she happily responded to the kiss and thus began another makeout, except this time it was not interrupted by Gene
After another hour the party came to an end and the pesto twins left going home across the street, Louise kissed Rudy at the door before he left "thanks again for the present"
He grinned "happy birthday Louise" he pecked her lips before walking off to go home
She walked back up to the living room with a lovestruck grin on her face
