Midoriya and Uraraka climbed into the building through a window. "And just like that, we're in!" Uraraka stated.
"Careful. There are a lot of blind spots." Midoriya noted as he went down a hall to the left, Uraraka following not far behind. They cautiously rounded corners and made their ways down the hallways while looking all around for any possible angle of attack their "enemies" may come from. (I can use One For All properly now, thanks to Daruka. It's still nowhere near as powerful as All Might, or even what I did to the Zero Pointer, but I should at least be able to contend with Kacchan now. I'll show Daruka and All Might everything they helped me with was worth it!) Midoriya told himself resolutely in his mind.
Suddenly, the green-haired boy gasped as he sensed something, looking up just in time to see Bakugo leap from around the nearest hallway, growling as he threw his palm forward. Acting quickly, Midoriya grabbed Uraraka and dove to the side, the two crashing into the ground as Bakugo exploded the wall in front of where he was once standing. "Uraraka, you okay?!" Midoriya asked, getting up.
"I'm fine. Thanks!" She said gratefully, getting up as well, before she noticed the damage Midoriya still received despite dodging. "Oh, Deku!" She cried out in concern at the destruction of half of his mask.
"It's just my mask." He assured her.
Suddenly, they both gasped as they heard the shifting of rubble, before Bakugo swiped away the smoke from his explosion. "What's the matter, Deku? Afraid to stand up and fight me?" He questioned.
"I knew you'd come at me first. I figured you'd try to catch me by surprise!" Midoriya said, standing up.
In the monitoring room, the students were shocked at the action already taking place. "He almost got the jump on them." The grape-haired boy said.
"Sneak attack, Bakugo? What kind of man pulls cheap crap like that?!" Kirishima demanded in anger, punching his fist into his hand.
"It's a viable strategy. He's playing the part, acting like a true villain would." All Might explained.
"And based off the fact at least 50% of animals are ambush hunters, I'd say it's pretty effective." Scylla said, annoyed at her hunting strategy being called out.
"Well, those animals should be more manly and fight up-close and personal." Kirishima insisted.
"Oh, man. This guy would hate Nargacuga, then." Aster whispered to Bredon, who nodded.
"It didn't work! Midoriya dodged him!" Mina said excitedly.
"The question is, what are they going to do now?" Zafira questioned.
Bakugo then rushed in at Midoriya. "I won't hurt you so bad they'll have to stop the fight! Just close!" The explosive boy declared, throwing a right hook, but Midoriya moved to the side and grabbed Bakugo's arm.
"Wow! Look at those moves!" Uraraka said in amazement as Midoriya threw Bakugo over his shoulder, slamming him to the ground, HARD, much to the amazement of several people in the monitoring room, All Might included.
Midoriya panted heavily from the exertion of the throw, before looking at Bakugo, who slowly started to get back up "Kacchan. You always use a big right hook to start a fight. I know because I've watched you for years." Midoriya said.
"Huh?" Bakugo asked in surprise, looking back at his former punching bag.
"I analyzed every amazing hero, even you. I wanted to learn everything I could about them. It was all in the notebook you burned and threw away." He explained while Bakugo growled at him. Midoriya then looked back up to glare back at the explosive boy. "You can call me Deku, but I'm not the same helpless, defenseless kid anymore! You hear me? I've changed. From now on, Deku is the name of a hero!" He declared proudly as Uraraka remembered that she encouraged him to put a positive spin on the nickname.
Bakugo for his part, however, got back up angrily, arms ready to make more explosions once again. "Deku..." He growled, remembering back to the time Midoriya defended another kid from him and his goons as toddlers. "You're shaking in your boots, you're so scared." He pointed out, making mini explosions in his palms while Midoriya growled. "But you want to fight me anyway... THAT'S WHY I HATE YOU!" He roared in fury at the boy before him.
However, before they could get very far, Iida interrupted over Bakugo's earpiece. "Bakugo! Come in! Give me a status report! Where are you?" The armor-clad boy questioned.
Bakugo's lips curled into a snarl as he touched his earpiece. "Just shut up and defend the weapon! I've got more important things to worry about!" He ordered.
This didn't register well with Iida. "Are you forgetting what our mission is?" He questioned, looking back at the fake bomb. However, he received no response. "Hello?" He called out for an answer, but didn't get one and realized why. "He hung up on me! This is not the time for radio silence! We're supposed to be partners!" The engine-legged boy ranted angrily.
Meanwhile, the group in the viewing room were confused as they saw Bakugo talking through the various cameras, but heard nothing. "Hey, who is Bakugo talking to? I can't hear anything. Can we get any sound with this video?" Kirishima asked.
"He's got a radio in his ear so he can talk to his partner. I gave it to him before the match started, along with a map of the building." All Might explained, point to his own ear. He also held up a roll of tape. "Also this, a roll of capture tape! Wrapping this around your opponent means you've apprehended them and they're out for the rest of the game." All Might told the students.
The group watched the fight, as well as the timer, with only a few seconds past thirteen minutes left and counting down. "So, there's a fifteen minute time limit and the good guys have no idea what floor the nuclear weapon is hidden on, right?" Mina asked.
"Correct!" All Might confirmed.
"Then the heroes are clearly at a disadvantage! A big one!" The girl pointed out her concerns.
"It's life. Sometimes it catches you off-guard, but you have to fight through it to survive." Bredon told her.
"Correct, young Bredon! Real pros have to outwit villains on a daily basis. That's life. Even when the odds aren't in our favor, we fight!" All Might said, raising the spirits of the class. "All together!" All Might called out, raising his fists along with the students.
"Let's hear a Plus Ultra!" The students cheered along with their teacher.
"Hey, looks like 'Splodey Boy's on the move!" Tana pointed out, causing All Might's attention to return to the scream.
Back in the training building, Bakugo spread his arms out in preparation for an attack as Midoriya took a defensive stance. "Uraraka! Go!" The inheritor of One For All ordered.
Uraraka let out a cry of surprise and quickly retreated as Bakugo rocketed forward, Midoriya raising his arms and blocking the kick the explosive boy threw at him. "Ballsy move! You think you can take me alone!?" Bakugo demanded, before Midoriya began sparking, suddenly grabbing his leg before pulling him in, delivering a solid punch to Bakugo's gut that knocked the air out of him, before a punch to the face sent Bakugo to the floor, sending him skidding across the floor a few feet.
Midoriya was shocked as he looked down at his hand. (This is real. With this power, I can fight back! But still, it's a relatively low amount of power I can use. Against someone like Kacchan... I can only hope it's enough.) Midoriya said to himself.
Bakugo growled and blasted himself to his feet. "Damn nerd... I'LL MAKE YOU REGRET THAT!" Bakugo shouted, blasting himself forward. Midoriya threw a punch at his old friend, but Bakugo blasted himself down to avoid the hit, before slamming his palm into Midoriya's chest and blasting him back, immediately chasing after him. He reached Midoriya and attempted to blast Midoriya in the face, but the green-haired boy dodged and punched Bakugo in the chest, before grabbing him by the collar and slamming him into the wall beside him. However, Bakugo blasted him in the stomach and knocked him back into the wall behind him. "You may have a Quirk now, but you're still the same weak, useless Deku you've always been! You'll never beat me!" Bakugo roared.
All Might watched the scene closely. (Midoriya told me that Young Bakugo thinks very highly of himself. But this level of pride is something else. It may end up being his demise.) The pro thought in concern as Bakugo lunged forward to attack again.
Further ahead, Uraraka had managed to make it to the room where the weapon was being held, peaking around the pillar she was using for cover to observe the situation. (Found it! Now I just have to tell Deku! And try my best to stay out of sight until he gets here!) She thought, before taking note of her opponent.
Filler Iida, meanwhile, appeared to be deep in thought himself. "Bakugo definitely has a villainous side. And that's exactly what we need to succeed in this mission." He pondered out loud. "I need to temporarily devote myself to criminal intent. Yes. I won't fail this trial and risk bringing shame down on the Iida family name. That means, I must now embrace evil... to become a hero!" He told himself. He then turned dramatically with a dark glare visible in his eye. "Behold! I am the personification of villainy!" He declared in a villainous tone, cackling in an evil manner.
Uraraka couldn't keep it together at this and spit up a bit as she laughed. (He's so serious!) She thought.
However, this laughter alerted her opponent, who turned in the direction she was in. "Hm? Uraraka, is that you?" He called out, still with his villainous voice, causing Uraraka to gasp and step out from her hiding place with a nervous laugh. The engine-legged boy the pointed a finger menacingly at her.
"I knew that you would come here alone the instant that Bakugo ran off on his own and engaged with Midoriya!" He declared, before holding his arms up like an evil scientist laughing maniacally. "Your Quirk allows you to float anything you touch. But I've prepared for that, by hiding everything in this room so you have nothing to use against me, do-gooder!" He revealed, holding his arms out as a quick look around the room confirmed what he said. It was squeaky clean, absolutely nothing lying around! "My dastardly tricks have rendered you helpless! You've blundered, hero!" He declared with another evil laugh.
Uraraka could only look on in shock... and slight unease at Iida's antics and performance. "He really is... playing the part." She noted.
Midoriya and Bakugo were now openly trading blows with each other, narrowly dodging or deflecting the other's attack. However, this was taking quite a bit more effort on Bakugo's part, as it took significant force to move Midoriya's oncoming blows out of the way. That being said, taking glancing blows from EXPLOSIONS still hurts pretty bad. Midoriya was wearing down Bakugo, but Bakugo was dealing more damage to Midoriya. Suddenly, the green-haired boy received a message on his earpiece. "Uh, hey, Deku? I found the weapon, but Iida just saw me. I'm really sorry." She apologized.
This distraction gave Bakugo the opening he needed to shove Midoriya back into the wall and deliver several powerful blasts to him. "You're dead, nerd! It's over! I won!" Bakugo declared as he continued to blast Midoriya.
The green-haired boy winced at this, but then opened his eyes and glared at Bakugo. (I can't let it end like this! All Might and Daruka helped me so much! I have to show them it was worth it!) He thought to himself, before powering through the next explosion, grabbing Bakugo's arm and hurling him across the hall until he slammed back into the wall at the other end of the hall.
Bakugo growled in both pain and anger at this, Bakugo growled at this, but that growl quickly changed to a smirk. "Since you're such a stalker, by now you probably figured out how my Quirk, Explosion, works. I secrete Nitroglycerin-like sweat from my hands and make it blow up. Imagine what I could do if I had a lot of it." He declared as he pulled back on the lever of the gauntlet grenade, revealing a pin. He then widened his stance. "That's right, these gauntlets aren't just for show. They've been storing up my sweat inside for one monster blast!" He informed his opponent, reaching for the pin on the grenade.
Back in the reaction room, All Might understandably grew quite worried at this. (No, he's going too far!) He realized in his mind, holding up his communicator. "Young Bakugo! Don't do it! You'll kill him!" All Might warned him.
But Bakugo paid no heed to this warning. "He'll be fine as long as he dodges!" Bakugo declared, pulling out the pin and unleashing his massive explosion. A gigantic eruption of flames and pressure shot forward, tearing up the walls and floor and even shaking the upper levels of the building as Iida and Uraraka lost their footing.
(Holy crap! I don't stand a chance against that! I've got one chance to stop it!) Midoriya thought, thinking back to several of All Might's old fight where he decimated a villain with pure wind pressure. (I can try it! Right now it's my best chance.) He thought, powering up his arms about two percent past the current limit of his power and unleashing a powerful clap, sending a huge rush of air forward, parting the explosion in front of him and making it pass over and around him like a tunnel of fire, rushing all the way to Bakugo and pushing him back into the wall again. Midoriya panted heavily at this, feeling exhausted from the well of power he pulled from, his arms feeling like they were on fire. (That was dangerous. I got real lucky, though. My arms didn't break. Still, that took a lot out of me. I can only hope the same is true for Kacchan.) He thought as the smoke parted.
Bakugo was shocked at this. (That was a fully-charged blast from these gauntlets that make my explosions even bigger! And he stopped it! Does that mean he's actually stronger than me?! No way! I can't let that happen! I'm taking this nerd down!) He thought furiously, his face curling into a snarl that matched his fury.
Back in the room with the bomb, Iida turned away to figure out the situation. "Bakugo! Answer me! What is going on down there? Did you cause that blast?" He asked over the communicator.
Uraraka the smirked as she saw an opening to get the weapon. (Now's my chance! If I can claim the weapon, that means we win!) She thought, rushing towards the weapon.
Unfortunately, Iida noticed and brought his focus back to her, running at her as well. "Not so fast, hero!" He declared. However, as they ran at each other, Uraraka touched her fingers together and leapt into the air, flying above the armored boy.
(I just have to touch the weapon! In one move, this will all be over!) Uraraka thought to herself as she said towards the fake nuke.
"Since when can she make herself float?" Iida asked, looking back in surprise.
Uraraka smirked at this, touching her fingers against each other. "Release!" She declared, her power fading and she fell towards the weapon. However, at the same time, Iida released his rockets from his armor and shot himself forward. (This special move is hard, but it's worth it!) She told herself in her mind she sailed towards the weapon. Unfortunately, Iida shot past her, grabbing the weapon and rocketing away with it, at which point she screamed as her target moved, causing her to land awkwardly on the ground, falling and rolling end over end until she slammed into a wall, upside down with her butt sticking straight up into the air as she groaned in pain.
"Admirable attempt, but your Quirk is no threat if you can't touch anything! I could easily keep this weapon out of your reach until time runs out!" He declared proudly with another evil laugh.
Uraraka looked back with a glare as she got to all fours. (It's not over! I won't let Deku down!) She told herself.
Bakugo growled at this. "Okay, you may have stopped that, but you look like you're about to drop! Bet you can't do that again! Hell, I probably don't even have to do that! I could just run up and push you over!" He roared, rushing in at the green-haired boy and throwing strikes at him, all of which Midoriya could barely dodge.
(Not good. I can barely lift my arms. I need to stay on the defensive and hope I can get some energy back into them.) He thought, then remembered something. (Wait! Just because I have All Might's power doesn't mean I have to fight just like him! Even Bakugo and Daruka use their lower bodies!) He continued his thoughts, remembering the kick Bakugo threw earlier in the fight, as well as Daruka's training with All Might, where she would throw some kicks, followed up with swings from her tail.
He then leapt out of the way of Bakugo's next attack, jumping into the wall, pressing off and throwing a round kick to Bakugo's face, landing on the ground and hitting him with a side kick.
Bakugo, meanwhile, was getting more and more furious that, even after Midoriya was appearing exhausted, was still keeping up with him. "DAMMIT, DEKU!" He roared in fury, grabbing Midoriya and blasting him in the stomach with two strong blasts, throwing him over his shoulder and blasting him down the hallway.
Back in the viewing room, many of the students were understandably concerned with as they continued to watch things play out. "Sir, isn't this getting out of hand? That Bakugo is acting real crazy. He's gonna kill 'im!" Kirishima voiced his worries.
"The blonde kid's off his rocker. He's so obsessed with winning, I think he's convinced himself this is a death match." Scylla agreed.
All Might considered it, before dismissing the thought. "Not so." He said, recalling the things he said, noting he did plan to stop before life-threatening injuries were sustained. (Despite his fierce posturing, he's not actually trying to kill Midoriya, but still...) All Might told himself mentally, before raising his communicator.
Bakugo began to advance on Midoriya, before All Might spoke to him on his earpiece. "Bakugo! Use that stored up power again and I'll stop this fight. Your team will lose." All Might warned him.
"Huh?!" Bakugo demanded.
"To employ such a strong attack indoors is inviting the destruction of the stronghold you're should be protecting. That's a poor strategy, whether you're a hero of a villain. The penalty would be a massive loss of points." All Might told him sternly, to which the boy trembled in anger. Back with All Might himself, he watched the fight with conflicting emotions. (I know that as a teacher, I should stop this fight now. But...) He pondered his next course of action.
Meanwhile, between the time he'd spent dodging and kicking, plus this distraction gave Midoriya a chance to get some feeling back in his arms, rushing in and delivering an uppercut to Bakugo and punching him in the stomach. Bakugo growled at this, crouching and digging his feet and a hand into the floor to stop himself. "Deku, you bastard! That was a cheap shot!" He roared, blasting himself forward.
Midoriya gasped and widened his stance, but realized his options were very limited. (It's no good, I can't dodge this.) He thought as everything seemed to go red. He then tightened a fist. (I'll have to counterattack! Like this!) He thought, throwing a punch, but Bakugo launched himself over and behind Midoriya with a blast, before firing another blast from behind Midoriya, searing his back.
The students in the viewing room were shocked by this display of movement. "Dang. That's some kind of crazy move you'd expect from a Seregios." Aster quietly commented to Bredon, who nodded.
"He's definitely way more maneuverable than you'd expect at first glace. Especially with those gauntlets. They look like they'd weigh him down, but he's able to move in spite of them." The former Brute Wyvern added.
"What was that move?" Kirishima asked again.
Todoroki watched the fight stoically. "He doesn't come off as a guy with a strategy. But he's actually quite intelligent." He said, causing Kirishima and Mina to look at him strangely.
"What are you talking about?" Kirishima asked.
A frame by frame replay showed what happened as the boy explained it. "He changed his trajectory in mid-air, using a blast that doubled as a smokescreen. Very clever." Todoroki quietly praised Bakugo.
"A feint like that requires an extreme amount of precision. He had to calculate the physics and demonstrate control over his Quirk." Yaoyorozu explained.
Midoriya staggered forward at the blast to his back. But he didn't have much time to recover. "Here it comes, nerd! The famous right hook you were whining about!" Bakugo roared as he came flying forward and swung his fist forward, slamming his gauntlet into Midoriya, knocking him forward and making him scream in pain. But before he could fall forward, Bakugo then grabbed his arm. "Deku..." He began, using several small explosions to turn himself. "Don't you ever forget what you are!" He snapped, throwing the green-haired boy to the ground. "You're a weakling!" He snapped as Midoriya gasped, the wind knocked out of him from being slammed on the floor in such a way.
Midoriya's vision began to blur from all the damage he'd taken and he felt a massive wave of dizziness and fatigue, feeling as if he would soon pass out. (I don't have much more left in me. I have to finish this now! I can't let All Might down! Or Daruka! They put their faith in me! I have to earn that!) He thought, putting his arms on the floor behind him, bringing his legs up to his chest, pushing off the floor and extending his legs to kick Bakugo in the face, managing to land on his feet and grab Bakugo, before powering up as much as he could safely, then running down the hall to gain speed, leaping forward and holding Bakugo out in front of him, slamming him between himself and the wall, before they both fell to the ground with Bakugo on the bottom, unconscious. Midoriya had just enough energy to roll off of Bakugo, trying to lift his head in an attempt to get up, but unconsciousness soon washed over him as well.
Everyone was in shock or awe at what happened, even All Might himself needing a moment to process it, before he finally spoke. "One Hero and one Villain down! It's one on one now! So exciting!" All Might declared.
In the observation room, many of them were shocked at what had transpired. "Whoa! He really did it! He beat a beast like Bakugo!" Kirishima said in amazement.
"It was a tie. Still, that was pretty intense. I'm amazed Midoriya lasted that long after eating all those explosions." Jiro added.
"The kid's tough. He may not look like much, but he's got the determination to outlast just about anyone here. He wants to be the greatest hero ever. And he won't stop until he makes it happen." Daruka told them.
"He's good, but the blonde boy clearly wasn't prepared for what he was facing. His battle tactics were pretty clever. If he had any more time to plan than he did, or more room to move around freely, there's a good chance he would've won." Olympia pointed out.
"Yeah, but it's also pretty obvious greenie was holding back. He totally had more power he could've used against 'Splodey. He probably just didn't so he didn't explode him instead. Doesn't seem like he has too much control over it yet." Ivy pointed out.
Meanwhile, Todoroki looked at the screen. (He's strong. And pretty clever. If I'm gonna surpass my old man, I'll have to surpass him, too.) He thought, before looking around at the animal-like students. (And then there's them. There's more to them than they let on, but what? At least now I'll get to see what they're really made of.) He continued his thoughts.
Meanwhile, Uraraka had tried several times to go for the bomb, but each time, Iida had moved it out of the way. "Face it, do-gooder! You will never claim the weapon as long as I am in your path!" Iida declared, laughing evilly.
Uraraka growled at this. "Well, if that's the case, I'll just have to move you out of my path!" She declared, rushing at the armored boy directly. However, Iida simply dashed around her, grabbing her left arm and pinning it to her back, bringing her to the floor.
"Ha ha! A valiant effort, but all for naught! Now you shall be captured and victory shall be mine!" Iida declared once more, laughing again, but didn't pay attention to Uraraka's free arm touching his leg, her finger pads touching him and causing him to lose gravity. "W-what?!" He cried out as she gave him the tiniest bit of a push, causing him to lift into the air. "No! This cannot be!" He yelled as he lifted into the air, unable to hold Uraraka as he started to raise into the air, forced to let her go and raise towards the ceiling.
"Sorry, Iida! I'll let you down as soon as I win!" She said, getting up and heading for the weapon.
"No! In the name of villainy, I command you to stop!" Iida cried out, trying to swim through the air towards her, but to no avail.
With that, she ran towards the weapon and placed a hand upon it. "We did it, Deku!" She declared, even thought she knew he likely couldn't hear her.
"Amazing! The hero team wiiiiiiiins!" All Might cried out as Uraraka cheered and clapped for her team's victory, also inadvertently releasing her Quirk, causing Iida to fall to the ground.
In the observation room, everyone was amazed by that fight. "Man, that was intense. The heroes looked done for at first, but they totally turned it around." Kirishima said.
"Both Bakugo and Midoriya had incredible power. It seemed like it could go either way. But neither of them was going all-out. If they were, the fight could've easily been lethal. Bakugo's attacks may have seemed life-threatening, but there were certain tells still showing he held back. Which was a good thing for Midoriya. That large spike in his power when he performed that clap seemed to be his upper limits and even then, left him nearly exhausted, while only just barely allowing him to stop Bakugo's attack. It was certainly close and while Midoriya did still end the fight, it's clear that Bakugo is still currently the more powerful one." Yaoyorozu noted.
"Still, you have to admire Midoriya for pushing through like that." Tsuyu said.
"And Uraraka floating Iida like that, even after he had her pinned. You've got to show that some respect." Jiro added.
"Indeed. There is still much to discuss, but let's save it for when our two teams are back here!" All Might declared, exiting the room and heading to the battle zone to collect the two teams.
Midoriya groaned as consciousness was slowly returning to him, along with the sensation of pain all over his body. As well as the familiar sensation of being slapped in the cheek lightly and repeatedly. "Hey! Young Midoriya, it's time to wake up! Up and at 'em! Hey!" All Might's voice called to him, the boy slowly opening his eyes and waking up to see All Might standing over him, tapping his cheek over and over to rouse him, much like when they first met.
"All Might? What happened?" Midoriya asked.
"You and Young Bakugo fought and it ended in a draw, resulting in you both losing consciousness. But, you'll be happy to know that Young Uraraka was able to secure your team's victory!" All Might explained as he had started slapping Bakugo's cheek in order to wake him up.
And the blonde boy had indeed woken up to catch the tail end of the conversation. "I-I lost?" He asked.
"Your team lost, Young Bakugo. If you're referring to you and Young Midoriya fighting, you were very close to winning, but it ultimately ended in a draw. Neither of you truly one." All Might said.
Bakugo was shocked at this. (I didn't win. I fainted with that nerd. Does that mean I'm not better than him? Does that mean he really is on my level? Could he get better than me?!) He questioned repeatedly in his mind, even starting to hyperventilate.
"Kacchan..." Midoriya said worriedly.
All Might then put a hand on the explosive boy's shoulder. "Calm yourself, Young Bakugo. Everyone has low points in their lives. Let's return to the other students so you can reflect on your shortcomings to ensure they don't happen again." All Might told him.
"Fine..." Bakugo simply said, getting up and following All Might back to the observation room, Midoriya following closely as well.
The full group had reconvened back to the training room with the screen displaying the results of the match. "Nice work out there, Deku." Daruka said to him.
"Y-yeah, thanks." He said gratefully, although couldn't hide his slight embarrassment.
"Well, if nothing else, you put on a pretty good show there, blast-y." Tana said to Bakugo, who simply growled at this.
"Person-To-Person Combat Training"
"Battle 1 Review"
"Well, despite the result, the MVP of this exercise is Young Iida!" All Might declared, much to everyone else's shock, none more so than Iida himself.
"Shouldn't it be one of the heroes instead, since they're the winners?" Tsuyu asked.
All Might smirked at this. "Mm! Valid question! Why didn't I choose one of those two? Who has a guess?" He asked eagerly, raising a fist into the air.
Yaoyorozu raised a hand at this. "Sir! I can tell you why!" She declared, her eyes closed as she spoke seriously. "Iida embraced this challenge. He was the only one who truly adapted to his assigned role." She explained, everyone looking at her, not fully understanding. And while it seemed he wasn't paying attention, Bakugo was listening closely, desperate to understand where he went wrong.
"I'll explain. Bakugo's judgment was clouded by a personal grudge against Midoriya. As you pointed out earlier, launching a large-scale attack indoors was a foolish move. It could've been disastrous. Similarly, Midoriya's plan was also poorly thought out. While he pulled out some clever tactics in last-second situations, it almost seemed like he didn't have a battle plan overall. Not smart." Yaoyorozu explained, Midoriya looking down in shame. "As for Uraraka, she let her guard down mid-battle and she, too, rushed in without much of a plan against Iida when she realized she had to resort to combat." She elaborated, recounting the events of the match. "Iida was fully prepared for his opponent's arrival. He had a strategy and never lost sight of his mission to protect the dummy weapon, even if he was foiled in the end." She elaborated as Iida looked at her with a blush, overwhelmed by the praise, even if she wasn't speaking to him directly.
"Technically, the hero team won, yes, but they took advantage of the fact that this was training. They didn't respect the spirit of the trial." She finally finished with her verbal essay.
"Huh. I never thought of it like that. I guess we really did lose focus and rely on this only being training." Midoriya said, making a note of that in his journal.
All Might was shocked at the thorough and detailed explanation the girl had given. (This girl really has a good eye on her.) He thought to himself, a bit overwhelmed himself. He managed to recover, however. "Yes... Well, you overlooked a few things. Young Iida could've relaxed a little bit in the exercise. But... Otherwise you nailed it!" He declared, giving her a thumbs up with a goofy giggle.
Yaoyorozu put her hands on her hips as she recited her creed.
"Start with the basics to develop depths of learning"
"Devote oneself wholeheartedly"
"One should always start with the basics and devote themselves wholeheartedly to learning. That's the only real way to become a top hero." She declared, a scroll painting depicting a heron.
All Might then stood in front of the hero and villain boxes again. "Now, then! Time to blow this joint. Let's move onto the next match! Think about everything we saw and discussed as you tackle this training for yourself." All Might said as Bakugo still seemed completely out of it.
"Yes, sir!" The other students acknowledged.
A/N: So, there we go! The new epic battle between Midoriya and Bakugo. Originally I had written it so that Midoriya actually wins the fight, although just barely, but I then spoke to my good friend, Venom Rules All (check him out, BTW, his stories are great), about Bakugo's supposed demise in chapter 362 and he explained there's no way they could kill of Bakugo yet, since the two of them still have to have one final, conclusive fight. Plus, Midoriya spouts throughout the entire original episode how much he wants to beat Bakugo because he's amazing, so I feel like that would've ruined things, if he aspires to be even better than Bakugo, just to beat him already, it would be pretty anticlimactic and he'd lose a serious driving force. So, instead I ended with a tie. I hope you guys still enjoyed it.
And next time, Class 1-A will finally see what the former monsters they call their fellow students are truly capable of! They're gonna be in for quite the surprise!
