So I was still in the pavilion trying to process what the heck just happened. Not to mention that I had no idea where Cabin 22 was. One thing's for sure I learned that day.
I never wanted to be a son of Zeus. Good thing I don't act anything like Jake.
"Are you looking for your Cabin?"I turned and saw Willow.
"..Yeah. Can you show me?"I asked
"Sure, follow me"Willow said, I followed her. "So how long have you been here?"
"Four years"Willow said
"Who's your godly parent?"I asked
"Tyche"Willow said
"The Goddess of Luck?"I asked
"What other in Greek Mythology do you know of?"She said. "Do you have a weapon and a shield?"
I was about to say no but I remembered my sword and my shield. The sword that was called Tempest and the shield with Medusa's head on it.
"Yes"I said
"Good. Then we don't have to go to the armory then"Willow said
"What?"
What kind of camp has an armory?
As I walked with Willow I saw an archery range, the canoeing lake, the stables, the javelin range, the sing-along amphitheater that I've been told by Willow about, and the arena where apparently they hold sword and spear fights.
As we walked I saw something. It was one of those things I saw earlier. I recognized it now, it was a Griffon. The bird with the head and wings of an eagle, and the body of a lion. The griffon also had two talons at the front with two paws of a lion in the back.
The Griffon cocked its head at me like it was confused. It kept looking at me until I was out of sight.
"So do you regularly have sword and spear fights?"I asked
"Usually in Capture the Flag. There's no maiming allowed. Doesn't mean that no one obeys though"Willow said
We walked until we finally arrived at the cabins. There were a total of twenty five, with another being built right next to Cabin twenty five.
The Cabins were arranged in a U. I've already seen the Hephaestus Cabin, but the others were much weirder. Every cabin had a large brass number above the door. Number four had tomato vines on the walls and a roof made out of actual grass.
Number 14 looked like a regular house but it was painted in all different colors, it reminded me of the rainbow. Number 15 looked like an old fashioned prairie house. It had a rush roof and mud walls. There was also a wreath of red poppies on the door.
Number 19 looked like a miniature casino that you'd see in Las Vegas. The cabin had four different entrances, the roof was slanted and the ceiling was high.
Then we finally reached 22. Needless to say it didn't look like much. It was pretty bland. It looked like an ordinary house that had blue and white stripes going up and down.
"That's your Cabin. Your stuff should be inside with your Camp T-Shirt"Willow said
"So this is the unclaimed cabin? Is there anyone else in there?"I asked
"Nope. The children are usually claimed almost right away these days. You'll have to way three days at the least, that's the longest anyone went without being claimed nowadays"Willow said
"Ok. Thanks"I said
"I'll be out here waiting for you. I'll show you the volleyball court when you come out"Willow said
"Ok"I said. I walked into the cabin and closed the door behind me. The cabin didn't look like much from the inside, the ceiling was high up and there wasn't even a second floor. Not to mention that the only thing located in this entire cabin was a couple beds. The cabin was much better looking from outside.
I walked towards the bed that had stuff on it. On the bed was the orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirt, the paw of the Manticore that I had cut off, black shorts, and a necklace with nothing on it, it just looked like a small circular black rope.
I sighed. "I hope you claim me soon, Dad. Any cabin is better than this"
I got into my new clothes and wrapped the empty necklace around my neck. I looked at my wrist, the watch that would turn into a shield when the button was pressed was still on. The coin that I would need to flip to use Tempest was on the bed. I grabbed it and stuffed it into my pocket.
I sighed again before walking out of the cabin. Sitting on the bottom of my stoop was Willow. She turned around once she heard the door close and stood up.
"Are you ready?"Willow asked and I nodded in response. "Follow me to the volleyball court"
I followed Willow. I thought about talking to her but I didn't know what to say. Didn't even know if she wanted to hear me talk in the first place. The first thing she said to me when I was conscious for more than a minute was that I snore like a pig.
Just as I opened my mouth I bumped into somebody.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!"The other person said
"Right back at you!"I retorted. I got a good look at the person I had just bumped into. It was a boy. He looked to be my age, just about my height too. He had blonde hair that reminded me of the sand on a beach, and green eyes that reminded me of the sea. He had a white scar on his neck and his skin was tanned.
"Who do you think you are? Get out of my way"The boy said
"You get out of my way"I said. The two of us but-heads, glaring daggers at each other.
Willow separated us with her arms. "Okay you two. Save it for Capture the Flag. Alex, just apologize"
"No way"I said. I didn't know who this blonde boy was, but needless to say right off the bat I had the feeling I wouldn't like him. "If anything he bumped into me"
"What? I was just minding my own business when you walked into me!"He yelled
"You could've moved, you know"I said. "Who even are you anyway?"
Willow sighed. "Let me introduce the two of you. Dylan, this is Alexander Fallon, he's a new camper, he's undetermined. Alexander, this is Dylan Phillips, son of Poseidon"
Dylan grew a smirk on his face like he'd expected me to fall to my knees and apologize.
"I don't care who his father is"I said, Dylan's smirk fell. "Can we just go to the volleyball court now?"
"You better watch you're saying, Fallon"Dylan said
"Am I supposed to be scared of you or something? I'm not, I've seen babies more threatening than you"I said
Dylan growled and clenched his fists. "Whatever"
Dylan bumped shoulders with me as he passed.
"Let's keep going. You really shouldn't make him angry. He's the son of one the Big Three"Willow said
"Big Three?"I asked
"Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. The three strongest gods"Willow said
I remember Jake saying something about Hades. Hades was the God of Death and ruler of the Underworld. He called Stephen and his Cabin "grave digging cabin". So Stephen was a son of Hades, and so we're people in his cabin.
"If Hades Cabin is one of the strongest here then why does Jake treat children of Hades so badly?"I asked
"I don't know. For some reason he hates Hades or Hades children. He's a real bully, Jake is. He's the counselor for Zeus Cabin as well. He's been bullying Hades Cabin, mostly this kid named Stephen for like five years now. One time he told Stephen to take a swan dive off the roof of the big house"Willow said
I was taken aback. Before I saw how he treated Stephen, Jake seemed like a nice person, some person who liked cracking some jokes every now and then. But now he's a bully who told a kid to kill himself.
"That's terrible. Jake seemed all right when I first saw him"I said
"That's because he doesn't know your godly parent yet. He doesn't just treat Hades cabin terribly, all the cabins belonging to the Minor Gods, too. He believes that the Olympians are above all of those other Cabins. Trust me, if you're parent isn't an Olympian, the chances are he'll be just as nasty to you"Willow said
Geez, I thought. I really didn't want to be a son of Zeus.
"What about the other person? Joe? Jake said there was another Zeus Cabin member"I said
"Joe. I mean he's all right. He doesn't bully anyone. But he doesn't stop Jake doing it"Willow said
"Maybe he's scared. If Jake is the counselor for Zeus Cabin, he's probably stronger too. Maybe Joe's just scared of what Jake would do if he does speak up"I said
"You're lucky, you know"Willow said as we walked.
"Lucky? For what?"I asked
"You fought a Manticore"She responded
"And almost died"I said
"Well many kids here would kill for the chance you had"Willow said
"To almost die?"
"To fight a monster. To leave camp. All the above. The Manticore's not an easy monster to kill"Willow said
"Well it's dead now. It's not coming back so I don't know why everyone's getting so worked up about it"I said
"It's not dead"Willow said
"Excuse me?"I said
"The Manticore's not dead. Monsters don't die, they can be killed but don't stay that way for long. They reform, they eventually come back. If you're lucky they'll reform for a few centuries. But they always come back. The only way to keep them from reforming is by killing them with a weapon made of Stygian Iron"
Coach LaBoe instantly appeared in my head. If he really wasn't dead...then what was he doing right now? Was he reforming? Would he stay that way for another few centuries? Or is he out there waiting for another moment to try and kill another Demigod? Or possibly looking for me?
"I fought a monster and killed him. He had all these tattoos and was about eight feet tall"I said
"Sounds like a Laistrygonian Giant to me. Hopefully for your sake he's still reforming"Willow said
"So my godly parent...do you have any idea of who it is?"I asked
"No. The only way I can really tell is your traits. Children of Gods usually have similar traits, either physical or mental. Like Athena Cabin, most of them have blonde hair and grey eyes. Or Poseidon Cabin, they either have black hair or blonde hair with sea green eyes. Or Zeus Cabin, once again they usually have black hair but they all have electric blue eyes"
I was so obsessed on who my father was. I wanted to know who he was, why he left my mom, and why my Mom would fall for such a guy.
"Well look what we have here! Hey new guy!"
I looked over. Walking towards me was three girls. The one in front looked the meanest out of all of them. She had brown skin, her hair was black and puffy and was wrapped in one big puff at the top of her head. She wore tiger print pants, black battle boots, the camp half-blood t-shirt, and brown fingerless gloves.
The girl was more muscular than both Willow and I. Which wasn't really much for me.
"What do you want Alessia?"Willow glared
"Hey, what's with the attitude? I just wanted to greet the new guy. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood. The name's Alessia Segerson. Daughter of Ares. You are?"Alessia said
"I'm Alexander Fallon. My friend Gideon's a son of Ares"I said
"Cool"Alessia said
"I don't think Alex wants to talk to you anymore, Alessia"Willow said
So I guess anyone's calling me Alex now.
"I'm just being nice. I'm part of the welcoming committee, Alex. It's my duty to make you feel welcomed at camp"Alessia said with a broad smile, showing off her white teeth.
"Well, thanks"I said
"You know Alex. We have a little right of passage. Like an initiation"Alessia said, the two girls beside her moving towards my sides.
"Oh really?"I asked. "What is this about?"
"Oh don't worry. You'll find out soon enough"Alessia said
I kicked and squirmed as I was dragged against my will. I couldn't think of what to do, so I thought of the first thing that came to mind...I bit the two girls.
The two girls hissed and I escaped. Not for long though. I turned around to see Alessia charging at me. I held my fists up. When she got close I swung at her, but before I knew it, I was slammed onto the ground.
And at the next moment, Alessia had me in a headlock and was forcing me to walk towards a bathroom. I continued kicking and squirming with some additional punching, but it was no use.
Alessia had successfully dragged me into the bathroom. There was a lineup of toilets on one side and stalls of showers on the other. Let's just say...for a camp that has the children of Gods in it...the toilets should really be cleaned more often.
Alessia shoved me towards a toilet. I was able to grab the toilet seat before my head went into the brown toilet water. But then I felt a hand against my head and was pushing it down.
I was forcing my head to stay up but it was getting harder and harder every second. I could hear Alessia and her friends laughing at me as I struggled and grunted, and yelled.
"No! No! No! No!"I yelled as my head got closer and closer and my head was just about to enter the Tory bowl. "NO!!!"
The last thing I remembered was closing my eyes and all sound around me just vanishing, and Alessia's hand was no longer on the back of my hand.
I opened my eyes. I was still in front of the toilet. I stood up and turned around...I was shocked. The stalls, the sinks, the toilets, most of them were completely blown to pieces like some sort of storm, hurricane, or tornado blew through it.
I walked out of the bathroom to see Alessia and her friends on the ground, covered in dirt. Right next to them, also covered in dirt was Willow and Dylan.
"You're gonna pay for that, Fallon!"Alessia yelled
"Woah"Willow said
Dylan looked astonished. "H-How? How did you do that?"
"What happened exactly?"I asked
"You blew Alessia and her goons out of the bathroom with wind. Very strong wind, it blew dirt everywhere. I went to get Dylan because he's pretty strong so I thought he could help you. But it appears you can defend yourself pretty well"
I shrugged my shoulders, not knowing what to say. Willow motioned for me to follow her.
"Mark my words Fallon! You're a corpse! You'll pay for this!"Alessia yelled
I turned around to face her. "You should keep your mouth shut or else I'll put your face in the dirt again"
I continued walked away with Willow, Alessia yelling really rude things at me as I walked.
"Hey, Alex"Willow said
"Yes?"I said
"How would you like to be on my team for Capture the Flag?"Willow asked
