This is the sequel to Evidence! There will be more. This story doesn't have Kamala in it, but she'll be in the next one for sure. I just wanted to do a story about Kareem and his feelings about suddenly having two boyfriends that he didn't ask for.
If you leave comments about how Bruno and Kamala are the only valid ship or if you leave comments describing lewd things you want teenagers to do I'm gonna have to delete them because that's not how I roll.
Enjoy!
Kareem hadn't intended to start consensually dating three people at the same time. He'd only really liked Kamala, but Kamala liked Kamran and Bruno as well, and Kamran liked everyone with lips. And since they were all now in a little polycule together, Kareem had decided he was going to put in some effort to get to know his boyfriends better.
He didn't really have a choice when it came to Kamran, since the clandestine lived with him now and got on every single one of his nerves. The problem was that ever since they had started dating Kamran had come off so strongly that Kareem didn't know how to reciprocate. He preferred a smoother, subtler flirting style, so he didn't exactly know how to begin an organic relationship with someone who was trying so very hard to get him to like him.
So he decided it might be easier to start with someone that he had absolutely no history with, which is how he ended up having a video date with Bruno Carrelli.
"I've never done this before," Bruno said.
"What, go on a video date? Me neither," Kareem said, trying to put Bruno at ease.
"To be honest, I haven't ever really been on any dates. I'm about to leave for California, after all. It feels weird to flip the switch on my friendship with Kamala, even if we're dating now, we haven't actually gone on any dates, because it doesn't feel like the right time."
"Yeah, to be honest, it does feel like we rushed into this dating thing," Kareem said with a sigh.
"It seems to make Kamala happy, and I definitely want to try it because I really like Kamala and Kamran, it just feels like there's a lot going on right now."
"Yeah, I feel the same way. Kamala is amazing and I want to get to know you and Kamran better, individually, so it doesn't feel like I'm just in it for her, but it still feels weird."
"You get it, man." Bruno looked a little relieved. He really was a handsome, cool-seeming dude.
"Well, we're in this together, at least. You can always message me, and we can do more video dates, too. We'll navigate this together."
"I'd like that. I don't want our relationship to feel like the weakest link in this polycule."
"Oh, no worries, I already like you way more than I like Kamran," Kareem said with a laugh.
"I think I like you three equally," Bruno said diplomatically. It was a nice sentiment, and also a very obvious lie.
"Thanks, babe," Kareem said tentatively, trying out pet names for the first time. It felt weird that he was calling Bruno babe before he had called Kamala babe, but Bruno definitely deserved it more than Kamran. And, Bruno was blushing adorably so Kareem didn't exactly regret his decision.
"You're welcome, babe," Bruno looked like he was going to explode. Pet names were clearly his weakness, which was good because pet names were pretty easy to drop into long-distance conversations and it was absolutely hilarious to see Bruno attempt to reciprocate.
Kareem decided then that he kind of liked having a boyfriend. Now he just had to learn how to like having a second boyfriend, which, as previously established, might be a bit harder of a task.
"Okay, I know you have these preconceived notions about me so let me have 'em," Kamran said when they sat down for their awkward and impromptu dinner date. It really wasn't anything special, except for the fact that it was a date.
"Well, I think you're a massive flirt and that you try too hard. And that people with powers like yours can cause real damage."
"Kamala has powers like me," Kamran pointed out, not denying the other claims.
"Yes, well, I trust Kamala."
Kamran sulked. That clearly wasn't the answer he wanted.
"So you don't trust me?" He said after a minute.
"Well, I'm trying to. Since we're dating and all that."
"I really want to earn your trust, Kareem. It's more important to me than earning your love or any of that."
"See, that's what I mean when I said you're trying too hard. It seems like you're willing to do anything to get me to trust you and that makes me feel uneasy. This whole arrangement is already hard for me because I never expected it and I just want to get to a place where things are natural between us."
Kamran nodded and moved to put his hand over Kareem's hand, which surprisingly made Kareem feel better.
"I know this is difficult. Unfortunately getting to a place where it's natural is going to take work, but when I try too hard or cross a boundary or do anything to make you uncomfortable, let me know, okay?"
"I will."
"Communication is the key to this whole thing, right?"
Kareem would argue that Kamala was the key, because without her there wouldn't be a whole thing, but Kamran had a point. That's why he'd wanted to go on these dates, to communicate with his boyfriends. He knew if he wanted to nurture a healthy relationship with his boyfriends and girlfriend then there would have to be a lot more dates and a lot more communication. But he was actually kind of looking forward to putting in the work.
