Chapter 1
It had been a few hours since Kion's trial had taken place, with the sentence being therapy at Rafiki's Tree, Kiara convinced her father to let them spend the night so they could leave for the tree with full strength the following morning. Kiara also suggested that they bring Ono with them, that way if something happened Ono could make it to Pride Rock and alert them faster since he can fly.
After Kion received his sentence, Kiara, along with Tiifu and Zuri escorted him back to his spot in the Lion Guard lair. Kion hadn't said a word since he snapped at those three lionesses that were harassing him, and Kiara could tell he didn't want to talk either. Once Kion was back in his spot Kiara finally broke the silence, "you know the rule, stay here," she said as turned to Tiifu and Zuri.
"I'm going to discusses a few last minute things with my father about our trip to Rafiki's tree. Tiifu, I need you to let Ono know he will be joining us on the journey for me," Kiara said as Tiifu nodded and left to get Ono.
Kiara then turned to Zuri, "I'm sure you can catch us something for dinner right?" she asked with a sly smile on her face.
"Hey! Of course I can! Don't give me that look!" Zuri replied as she playfully glared at Kiara before leaving.
Kiara gave one last look in Kion's direction before heading out herself, and leaving Kion to himself.
Kion watched as one by one the three left, and decided it was best to try to get a little extra sleep before his journey tomorrow.
Kion awoke, and looked around. Much to his shock, he noticed he was no longer in the Lion Guard lair, but rather in the Outlands. He then noticed that he was walking, walking toward a cave, a cave that inside contained his biggest regret. When we was about 50 yards away from the cave entrance he stopped, Reirei was standing in front of him. Kion was the first to speak, "You know why I'm here Reirei, just make this easy for both of us" he said.
"Krayt, please don't do this! I-I'll do better next time I-I swear!" Reirei begged.
"You know the penalty for failure Reirei, you agreed to the terms and now it shall be carried out. Now get out of my way, unless you want the same fate," Krayt responded.
Reirei knew not to argue or get in the way. However, she was still a mother and would do anything to defend her pups. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you do this," Reirei said trying to stand her ground.
"Very well, if you wish to do things the hard way, we will," Krayt spoke coldly as he unsheathed his claws.
In one swift move Krayt lunged at Reirei knocking her to the ground, Krayt then proceeded to slash his claws across her face leaving three marks on her right cheek. Krayt placed his paw on her next and spoke in her ear, "You need to decided if your with us or against us. Because if your against us, you know what will happen."
Reirei nodded in submission, knowing that continuing to fight would only result in her death as well.
Krayt removed his paw from Reirei's throat, "good, next time I will not be so forgiving." Krayt then struck Reirei on top of the head knocking her out.
"There, now I know she will not intervene," Krayt spoke to himself as he made his way to the cave.
Krayt walked into the cave where Dogo and the rest of Reirei's pups were staying. Dogo and the rest of the pups were surprised to see Krayt and wonder what he was doing here. Dogo was the first to speak, "master Krayt, mother just left to find you, what are you doing here?" He asked.
Krayt however, did not respond. All he did was glare at the pups with his amber eyes and unsheathed his claws. The pups started to back up slowing, sheer terror on their faces…
Kion awoke with a start. He gasped for breath as he shot his head up and looked around, it was night now and he was back at Pride Rock, in the Lion Guard lair. It was not the first time Kion had this dream, but each time he has it, he hopped it would be the last time. Laying his head back down he started to shed silent tears.
Kiara had also awoke when Kion gasped, looking in the direction of her brother she notice he was awake too. She watch as Kion shot his gaze around the room before laying his head back down. What cause her off guard was when she picked up the sound of silent sobs. Piecing the situation together almost instantly, she realize Kion had a nightmare, however, what it was about was what she intended to find out. She had seen Kion wake up from lots of nightmare since his return, but this was the first time she saw it bring him to tears.
Getting up from her spot, she made her way over to her distressed brother. As she got closer she could start to make out puddle of tears under Kion as it glistened under the light of the moon.
"Ky? Are you okay? Whats wrong?" she asked softly hoping not to startle her brother.
Kion's silent cry's stopped instantly as he lifted up his head to look at his sister. "Oh, um, I didn't mean to wake you Kiara," Kion whispered just loud enough for Kiara to hear him.
"That's not why I'm over here Ky, you know that. Now tell me, whats wrong?" Kiara asked again.
"Oh, I… um… had a nightmare, nothing important," Kion trailed off.
"That's not true Ky, I've seen you have nightmares before and never have they brought you to tears," Kiara stated. "Now I'm only asking one more time, whats wrong?"
"It was just a dream about what I did in the past," Kion replied.
"Be more specific Ky, what happened?" Kiara pressed on.
"You do not want to know" was all Kion answered.
"If I didn't want to know, I would not have asked, now tell me what happened," Kiara said as she looked Kion in the eye.
Kion knew there was no getting out of this, with a sigh he began to tell Kiara his nightmare. "You know of the pain I caused and the people I've killed. But you don't know just how many died at my paws..." he trailed off.
"Then tell me, its clear that its eating you up inside. Maybe talking about it will help you," Kiara said softly as she place a paw on her brother.
"No, this is something I will never forget. You know I kill Chumvi, Mheetu and Nuka, but you don't know it didn't just end there. I killed them all, anyone who dare defy me or Scar, and not just the males, but the females, and the cubs too! I killed them all! Cubs Kiara! I killed cubs, murdered them in cold blood! How I am supposed to forget that?" Kion said as tears of pain and regret flowed down his face.
Kiara was lost for words. She knew Kion did awful things as Krayt, but killing cubs. That was something she never thought Kion would ever do, no matter how far down the Dark Path he went.
"Your right, that is something you might never forget. But remember, no matter what you will get through this, and I will be there every step of the way," Kiara said soothingly.
"Y-your right, thank you Kiara," Kion thanked his sister.
"I'm always here for you little brother," Kiara relied. "Now go back to sleep, you will need the rest for the long journey tomorrow."
"Okay," Kion said softly as he rested his head on his paws again.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Kiara answered as she returned to her spot.
The two went back to sleep, knowing a great journey both physically and mentally was before them, and they would need all the rest they could get.
