Kyle in Chains is a South Park slashfic between Kyle and Cartman, also known as kyman. Here is a dumb thing i made about it. spoilers, obviously.

When it comes to things I enjoy about Kyle in Chains, There is a lot more then I'm willing to admit. As a start, I think the descriptions and characters are extremely vivid and well done. As someone who has never had their finger cut off, the description of how Kyle felt when having his finger severed with a pair of pruners actually made me practically feel my finger being chopped off my hand. I'm sure you can imagine how that works out in other scenes.. cough cough

Another big plus from KiC is the character development and the plot. Cartman stands out as a great example for this point. You can really see Cartman opening up, slowly becoming more comfortable with his feelings and the world around him. The way Cartman interacts with Liane is very touching to me, in the way that he responds to his mothers work, and how it effects him as a person. This specific line speaks to me most; "it probably has very little to do with the fact its my dad - its probably just men in general touching his mom that he objects to."

When it comes to Kyle in Chains downsides, there is quite a few. mainly stuff that just makes most people uncomfortable. Lets talk about chapter 20. if you dont know, chapter 20 is the infamous... goldfish chapter... in which Kyle gets a goldfish.. shoved up his ass.. I dont think i need to go into detail on why this is uncomfortable. This chapter also involves a rape kink, which is also very uncomfortable. I understand that technically it was roleplay but it still rubs me the wrong way. i do like the line "suck it. not that, homo."

A big red flag through the course of the fic is the use of romanticizing the fact cartman is an azi-nay. lines like "something good has come from all those years of worshiping Hitler" or "I'm a helpless horny little Jew trapped underneath an anti-Semetic, knife wielding pyschopath by the name of Eric Cartman" are extremely off-putting and kill the mood. I understand that there is gonna be a jew joke every now and then, but, as a Jew myself, some of these scenes are very unpleasant and gross.

thanks for coming to my ted-talk
