Chapter Three:

Once Holly was asleep on the couch once more, Margaret wasted no time. Heading off to consult the being known as Igor on what to do regarding the young Planeswalker sleeping on the couch. While the clearly oldest resident of The Velvet Hotel was busy with making her way to The Velvet Room, the other three residents were keeping themselves busy in other ways, namely fixing something for their guest to eat once she woke up, based on the fact that her stomach had growled in her sleep, indicating that she was hungry. Which was something that made sense on the grounds that even if she was a Planeswalker (no matter how powerful), she was still human and had all the physical needs that came with it.

Many Planeswalkers in the past had unknowingly starved themselves to death when their Soul and Mind left their physical Bodies behind due to the fact that the Soul and Mind, unlike the physical Body, didn't feel the physical urges of the Body, such as hunger and thirst. Resulting in the Planeswalkers dying from starvation and/or dehydration when they finally returned to their bodies. The few Planeswalkers that could physically enter the planes of existence beyond the Material World without leaving their body behind still felt hunger, thirst and other urges. And Holly was one of those few Planeswalkers.

While the residents of The Velvet Hotel looked and acted like human beings (albeit at times quirky ones), they ultimately weren't humans but beings that merely looked and acted like humans. Which meant that they didn't have the same needs as humans did. In fact, many of the needs a human had, such as eating and drinking, were at most just hobbies for the residents of The Velvet Hotel. Which was what led to Theodore and Elizabeth to debate on what kind of food they should make for their young guest, while Lavenza was reading a book with said guest's head resting in her lap and not paying much attention to their antics. If the snippets of the debate that Lavenza had picked up was anything to go on, the second and third oldest of the residents of The Velvet Hotel were trying to decide whether to make a rather simple meal or a more luxurious one. After half-heartedly listening to the debate for a few minutes, Lavenza decided to chip in with her own piece.

"I'm not sure how much it helps, but I got the impression that Holly here doesn't really care what she gets to eat, or how it tastes, only that she does get to eat something edible." Exclaimed the youngest resident of The Velvet Hotel, causing the two debating residents to abruptly stop to look at the youngest resident with pondering expressions.

"That seems… likely." Replied Theodore with an expression of sympathy.

"Given how skinny she looks for her apparent age, that makes sense." Replied Elizabeth with an expression of sympathy of her own. "I think a simple meal should be the right course of action, seeing as a more luxurious one could be a more acquired taste."

"Agreed." With that settled, the two residents of The Velvet Hotel proceeded with making a meal for their guest and themselves, not that there was any real point in the latter outside of merely enjoying the taste and probably humoring Holly in the possibility of her feeling guilty over being the only one eating.

A few minutes into Theodore and Elizabeth making some food for the guest of The Velvet Hotel, Margaret returned from her meeting with Igor, looking rather pensive. According to the ever cryptic being with a really long nose that was Igor, the young Planeswalker known as Holly Tanya Potter was apparently 'a sleeping Wild Card that will assist the Trickster on their journey before spreading her own wings and awaken her potential as a Wild Card', whatever the heck that meant. Some things that Igor said didn't immediately make sense, even to his assistants, the residents of The Velvet Hotel, who were more than used to the quirks of their boss. Still pondering on what Igor had said, Margaret didn't notice the smell of newly cooked food, more specifically hamburgers, from the kitchen along with rather upbeat music.

"Food? Ah. Must be for Holly." Muttered Margaret to herself. Thinking about it for a moment, the oldest resident of The Velvet Hotel simply shrugged. "Eh. Why not?"

Entering the kitchen, Margaret was greeted by the sight of Holly, who was enjoying a relatively normal hamburger, and the other residents of The Velvet Hotel, who were apparently also enjoying hamburgers of their own albeit with different contents of the burgers. Some of which bordered on the bizarre, but also rather comical in the case of Theodore, who (from the look of things) had just bitten into his burger and wearing an expression he hadn't worn since that time when Elizabeth mixed jalapeños into a batch of guacamole when the residents decided to have tacos.

"I see that you four seem to enjoy yourselves. Is there enough left for me to join in?" Asked Margaret, making a gesture towards the table. Noting that Holly got very surprised by her arrival, causing the young girl to almost choke on a mouthful of her hamburger, only avoiding actual choking thanks to Lavenza reacting quickly and patting Holly in the back, which prompted Margaret to wince. "Sorry about that."

"*gasp* That was scary." Replied Holly in a tone that only a young child could truly pull off, earning herself a comforting pat on the shoulder from Lavenza.

"How did it go with the boss?" Asked Elizabeth the older resident of The Velvet Hotel, all while looking back and forth between Margaret and Theodore as the only male resident of The Velvet Hotel took another bite of his hamburger while struggling not to scream because of the sheer spiciness of his burger.

"It appears that Holly here will be in our care for the foreseeable future. Effectively, we'll be her caretakers, at minimum."

"She'll be a part of the family?"

"Indeed. She's also connected to The Velvet Room via a pair of contracts. But neither of them will become active until the year of 2016. One being her own contract as a Wild Card, with full access to The Velvet Room's facilities. The other in association with another Wild Card, with limited access."

"Interesting, but what does that mean for us?"

"I'm not entirely sure. Igor was vague about what we can and can't do."

"Has Igor ever been known for giving straight answers?"

"True enough I suppose."
