CHELL ENTERS

THE BACKROOMS

Was making it to the surface worth the pain and suffering? Things could have drastically changed in the above world. Time slipped away down there in those death trap levels. Escape was always the key to her survival. Chell had her escape planned from the very beginning but just like always, GLaDOS thwarted every route possible. After all that hard work, They both live on. GLaDOS got her way.

The golden field of reeds was impeccable to look at, where would she go and who out there could help her adjust? The thought of being trapped inside Aperture for the rest of her life was overwhelmingly hard to swallow. Being designated to play a game using the portal gun, knowing she was just a replaceable unit, was not in her best interest. Fight to escape or die trying.

Chell wanted to know what was behind that steel door still before she left this all behind her though. She got up, made an arm stretch from the tumble she took when pushed out the first time. The disorienting look of this shack was wild, a random entrance to a laboratory in the middle of a field. Maybe this was meant to be a doomsday shelter and we were fodder to a rogue A.I. for the end of times. Memory wipe and all.

Chell walked over to the door, opened it, but something wasn't right.

"Was this all a simulation?" Chell Thought to herself.

Clearly she must have hit her head because this was not the same place she came out of minutes ago.

An intimidating monotone yellow took her eyes hostage, it was some kind of empty room that connected to a hallway which stretched out horizontally about twenty five feet with fluorescent lights above that illuminated it with slight buzzing.

This must be a disguise to lure other victims inside to be transferred to the lab. Although she couldn't see the elevator. Chell decides to walk inside, hoping to be in and out. There was a rising stench, like damp clothing that sat out too long.

Suddenly the door phased out like a glitch in a system. It was gone.

Chell no-clips through the floor and into another room, the drop was safe enough to not have any bones broken but as she hit the floor, the fall would definitely leave a bruise on her right shoulder and hip.

"What is this GLaDOS?" Chell asks out loud. She never knew how to vocally express her expressions before until this instance.. All her life she was a mute but things change in time.

Moments go by and nothing is heard from GLaDOS. Chell feels alone for once, no cameras and no eyes watching her, nobody testing her. Death was not an option this time it felt but something felt off about this place. Was this still Aperture?

Chell could hear the echoing taunts of GLaDOS, especially one in particular…

"When I look out there it makes me glad I'm not you."

"Where the hell am I…" Chell whispers to herself as she stands up.

She looks at the hallway in front of her, but notices a piece of paper to her right.

The Note

Seems to be written in dried up blood and ink.

In ink it reads..

For whoever finds this place, it is the definition of hell.

My name is Mako and I survived a week on the surface, but I returned to the outpost for GLaDOS to help me.

Something has invaded our world, survival has become unpredictable.

The rest in blood reads..

If you found this… I'm long dead. It seeks. It hears you.

Find the portal gun at the gate… survive…
