"Ellie your late" called Abbey up the stairs
"Moooooom I can't find my sweater" complained 12 year old zoey Bartlet
"Zoe you'd loose your head it it wasn't stuck on" said Abbey rolling her eyes
"But have you seen it" asked Zoey bouncing around the kitchen eating her bagel
"Upstairs on the dresser honey" replied Abbey, not looking up from her medical file
"Liz those aren't clothes" declared governor Bartlet looking up from his paper as his oldest daughter entered the kitchen
"Yes they are dad" she replied annoyed
"Abbey" he looked exasperatedly at his wife
"Liz school is an impor-" he began to lecture, she cut him off and they began their usual morning debate, Abbey chuckled to herself as Zoey returned downstairs with her retrieved sweater followed by Ellie
Abbey was distracted by her file when the two girls came in, it was only Liz's comment that made her look up
"Ellie your spilling juice all over the table" complained exasperatedly, Ellie seemed to be shaking, struggling to hold her hand steady as she attempted to put down the juice carton and clean up the mess she'd made
"Sorry" she muttered mopping up the mess with a napkin
"Now what do you have against the orange juice" Jed joked looking up from his paper
"Ellie, you feeling alright" asked Abbey, watching her daughters moves very carefully. As a doctor she knew how to spot illness a mile away and Ellie definitely checked multiple boxes, pale, sweating, shakey-
"Yeah" said Ellie way too quickly
Her thoughts were cut off by her husband reminding the girls they needed to catch the bus
"Bye dad" yelled Zoey running out the door, closely followed by Liz and finally Ellie how was moving slower than usual by Abbeys standards
Chapter 2
"How was school girls?" Called Abbey as she came in at 7pm after a long day at the hospital
Zoey came running to her immediately to explain her whole day without sparing a single detail as they made their way into the living room where Jed was reading the paper and Liz was writing in a journal
"Hey sweet knees" said Jed smiling and kissing her on the head
"How was your day babe?" She asked gently sitting down next to him on the sofa
"Well being the governor or New Hampshire is a very calm job" he joked
She rolled her eyes and chuckled, "wheres Ellie?" She asked for forrowing her brow as she noticed she hadn't seen Ellie yet, Ellie didn't spend as much time with the family as her other daughters did but it was unusual she hadn't come down to greet her when she'd got home
"She hasn't come down yet" replied Jed for rowing his eyebrows
"She isn't coming down much mom" said Zoey bouncing around the room
"I'm going to go check on her" said Abbey calmly kissing her youngest daughter as she bounced by
"Alright honey" said Jed watching her leave, hid he lived that woman, her big heart, her amazing mother skills, all of it
