Jaune Arc, with his armored plate, blue collared shirt, overlain by a brown poncho, and Stetson hat, a clean haircut and some few day old stubble, looked at the crater in front of him, smirking slightly at the white-haired girl in amusement. He had to admit, it was amusing watching something as simple as a sneeze destroy the hallowed grounds of Beacon Academy. As soon as the white-haired girl cleared out, he approached the crater, his carbine shouldered on his back, his revolvers strapped to his waist, and reached out his hand to the black-haired girl with red tips, and were those swirls in her eyes?
Jaune looked down and put his hand out, hoping the girl on the ground would reach out. She ended up looking up with a slightly quizzical expression, her grey eyes expressing slight confusion, and reaching out to grab Jaunes hand, and he pulled her up.
"My head…" Ruby said, as she gripped her head slightly,
Jaune looked on with eyebrows raised slightly concerned, "Are you okay?"
Ruby looked up at the man, noting his blonde hair under the hat, along with slight stubble on his face, as if he didn't truly care for his appearance. She looked into his eyes, which were blue, but for some reason they looked like they had crosshairs.
Ruby blushed slightly as she reached for his hand, noting the rugged look which she didn't expect to be attracted to…
He pulled her up, and introduced himself, "Hey, the names Jaune Arc, rolls off the tongue…" he paused for dramatic effect, a smirk appearing on his face. "The ladies love it." And he had the audacity to wink at her.
Ruby blushed thoroughly, her entire face turning red, it was not every day a guy of that caliber winked at just any girl.
"Shall we go to the auditorium?" Asked Jaune who tilted his head toward the direction of the building.
Ruby was walking along with Jaune, as he was briefly looking into the distance. She looked down, and then pulled out her main weapon of conversation, Crescent Rose. Jaune glanced at her and had his eyebrows raised, looking at the end of the barrel.
"So… I've got this thing…" Ruby said awkwardly, looking toward Jaune's look of slight surprise.
He looked at it briefly, "Is that a scythe and high caliber sniper rifle? Good sized magazine, no suppressor, but I'm assuming you can get good range, and you'll be far enough away." Jaune looked at her scope, "The scope is compact but I'm assuming that's because of the melee function. I'm guessing you can bury it in the ground to reduce recoil? It's beautiful craftmanship as well, you can tell there was tender loving care when crafting this weapon. I can't even see any microfractures in the blade."
Ruby had stars in her eyes, someone who knew weapons as intimately as her? This was a one in a million. She shouted, due to her excitement, "Y…yes! How do you know so much about weapons?!"
She paused, collecting herself. "Be cool Ruby…" she mumbled under her breath but Jaune heard it and smirked.
"Let's just say you're not the only one who uses high caliber firearms Ruby." And Jaune whipped out his two revolvers twirling them in his index fingers, and they soon turned into butterfly knives he held in a reverse grip. Ruby had stars in her eyes, Jaune held them out for her to inspect. "I don't recognize the rounds, it's not dust…" Ruby asked looking at Jaune, who had a big smirk. His chambers were glowing slightly, an eerie red color. He also removed a Carbine on his back and handed it to her, this one looked standard.
"Let's just say my Mother is… overzealous in making her inventions. I can't tell you how many explosions we've witnessed in the Arc household. Before I was born, she would refer to her greatest inventions as her babies, until my sisters and I were born. Then she kept referring to us as her greatest creations." Said Jaune, a smile on his face thinking of home, slightly embarrassed by admitting that to a near stranger.
Ruby giggled a little bit, "But what is this? I've never even seen or heard of something like this."
Jaune smiled, "I guess you'll have to find out what they do during initiation. But I'm mostly going to be using my dust carbine." He looked in the distance, "Shouldn't we be going to the assembly hall?"
"Oh my gosh! I almost forgot!" and Ruby started zooming off with what he assumed was her Semblance, with Jaune just standing there, eyes widened, not expecting that sort of speed.
She came back and sheepishly ran back, rubbing her head slightly, "I don't suppose you know the way?..."
Jaune laughed, looked into the distance, and gestured, "This way!"
Both jogged toward the Auditorium building. "Well Jaune, I need to find my sister… do you perhaps want to come with me?..." Asked Ruby, hoping she isn't being to forward.
Jaune smiled, and gestured, "Lead the way."
Ruby had a genuine smile on her face, she had a new friend! And he was a weapons guru like her!
She quicky looked around trying to find her sister, who was gesturing her to come this way, she pulled Jaune behind her, and the tall, buxom blonde raised her eyebrows, "Why hello handsome! Ruby you didn't tell me you could reel in catches like this!... Wait…" Yang smirked, "Were you the motion sick guy on the air ship?" Yang paused squinting slightly, and laughed, "You were!" Jaune looked decidedly unamused.
"Motion sickness is a common problem…" mumbled Jaune, looking slightly insecure for the first time since he arrived at Beacon.
Yang smirked going in for the kill, "Well Vomit Boy," she paused for dramatic effect, "I'll take your word on it."
Jaune sighed, and brought two fingers and pinched his nose, his face slightly scrunched up. "Well, guess I deserve that for vomiting on your boots."
Yang smirked, "What can I say, I have several talents: nicknames," and she counted off her fingers, "kicking ass, and of course, I'm punny!"
This time Ruby sighed, as she looked at her sister, "Yang, you're embarrassing me…"
"I have that exact same reaction with my sisters Ruby, don't worry about it." Jaune said smiling at the siblings, as Yang had Ruby in a light headlock.
"Well how's your day going anyways?" asked Yang to Ruby, who looked at Yang with slight annoyance.
"Ever since you ditched me and I exploded?! I'm lucky Jaune found me." Ruby said as she looked over to Jaune who had a small smirk.
"Meltdown already?" Yang asked smirking, and then Jaune turned toward her,
"Unfortunately, she speaks the truth, I found her in a crater." Said Jaune, who nodded sagely at Yang, who looked at him with a little bit of shock.
"I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then I sneezed, and then I exploded! She yelled at me again and I felt really, really bad and I just wanted her to stop yelling at me…" said Ruby who was immersed in retelling her story that a loud "YOU!" from behind her startled her, and she jumped in Yang's arms.
"It's happening again!" wailed Ruby quietly, as she grabbed onto Yang for dear life.
"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!" yelled the White-haired girl, who had a slightly aggressive stance toward the two sisters.
"It was an accident!" said Ruby, who lowered herself from Yang's arms.
The white-haired girl held out a pamphlet, "Dust for Dummies and other Inadequate Individuals", which Jaune had to laugh at but quickly disguised it as a cough.
She listed the spiel to Ruby who looked back with a blank face, almost trying to escape reality.
"Maybe you guys should try and start over and become friends?" asked Yang, as Jaune nodded along slightly, knowing that the white-haired girl was having none of it.
Ruby though, put in honest effort, "Yeah great idea Sis! Hello Weiss! I'm Ruby," and Ruby raised her right hand out so she could shake Weiss' hand. "Wanna hang out? Maybe go shopping for school supplies?"
"Yeah, we can paint our nails, and try on clothes, and talk about cute boys, like tall, blonde, and… extremely scruffy." As Weiss looked Jaune up and down.
"Wow really?" Asked Ruby, a smile plastered on her face.
"No." Deadpanned Weiss, and she glanced toward the tall blonde, who looked a little familiar, especially those eyes. She wondered where she saw those before.
Jaune smirked, and had a glint in his crosshairs, he was looking forward to this. "Ms. Schnee?" he asked, and Weiss puffed up her chest slightly and looked proud of the name.
"I'm Jaune Arc. Pleasure to make your acquaintance," said Jaune who smirked sarcastically. "I think you've met my family at some of your families' formal occasions?" Jaune said, and Weiss paused, as she quickly realized her mistake.
"You're one of THE Arcs?! But those girls talked about their sisters and their "babies"," she looked slightly disgruntled at using the term, "and their combat-prodigy brot…" Weiss paused, and looked at him, as Jaune raised an eyebrow challengingly.
Ruby and Yang looked lost. So Jaune decided to step in.
"What Weiss isn't telling you, is that she's met my family members on multiple occasions, including some galas and some business deals that fell through?" Jaune then adopted a feral grin on his face, as if he knew a kill shot was in view, "Also I don't think she's happy since my family developed a way to harness energy without the use of dust…" he smirked. Weiss had the decency to blush and angrily retort.
"We had nothing to do with those deals collapsing! Dust is the only thing running the world! And I understand now why you're family didn't take you to those events, your such a scruffy… unclean… ruffian!" and she stormed off, angry at being shown up.
"Okay… so what was that about?" asked Yang clearly confused, along with Ruby, who was watching the exchange like a tennis match.
Jaune smiled, "Well, what I didn't tell you is that my family, specifically my Mother and Father created and are currently running Hatsume-Arc Industries." Ruby sucked in a breath, as she quickly realized the connection. If you're a weapons nut like her, you know about Hatsume-Arc industries, they have some top-of-the-line support equipment for settlements and hunters against the Grimm. "While I am the only combat oriented one in the family, all of my sister's inherited my mother's genius, and they currently go on to invent new top of the line technology."
"I know why you look so familiar! You were on the cover of my weapons magazine! Your Mom is THE MEI HATSUME! The revolutionary technological expert the world over!" said Ruby pointing at Jaune. Yang looked at Ruby with a slight look of understanding.
"Yeah… I knew that was a bad idea." Muttered Jaune kind of looking disappointed at being put on a pedestal again. But he accepted it since he wanted to stop the Schnee from hurting his new friends' feelings.
"You have the longest ever confirmed Grimm kill! It was something like 30km away!" Yang's eyes bulged out, and then she noticed his eyes, they had crosshairs.
Jaune rubbed the back of his head, "Yeah… I made that shot on a Deathstalker in Vacuo," he said, still rubbing the back of his head. "Let's just say, I have very good eyesight, and a complementary semblance."
"That shot was a one in a million!"
"Well Ruby, what would you call an eyesight that can zoom to over ten miles away and can see physical mathematics?" asked Jaune, looking toward Yang and Ruby.
Ruby's eyes widened drastically, her mouth parting slightly, as if she suddenly realized Jaune's actual capabilities.
"Well that's very overpowered…" muttered Yang crossing her arms with a pout appearing on her face.
Jaune chuckled, "What can I say, I just have good aim."
This was something I found in my archives from a few years ago, thought I would see how people react, if you want to adopt this story or anything please let me know, I don't have many notes ahead unfortunately.
