Chapter 1 – Turned Around

The late June night was humid and rainy as Jack drove around trying to find his way around this small town in the middle of nowhere. His phone would get him lost on a night like tonight. The battery on his phone was also dying, making his commute longer to get back to the interstate.

The rain kept pouring from the sky and Jack thought it would never quit. The wind shield wipers on his old Ford truck did its best to keep up with the hard rain. Jack ended up slowing down on this two lane country back road due to visibility. He knew if he made it back to the interstate, he'd find his way on home.

Jack kept driving and driving for what seemed like forever. The rain was still pouring and visibility was worse than it was previously. He cursed under his breath that he got lost in this little town. "I just need to find the interstate..." Jack said as he squinted his eyes, trying to see out his windshield at the road ahead of him.

Moments passed but what he saw ahead of him in the road stopped him on a dime. His training in the military always had him prepared for anything at a moment's notice. What he saw ahead though, he wasn't prepared for.

His slammed his brakes on his old Ford and put the truck in park. The rain was still coming down as he opened the driver's door and got out and looked ahead at what was standing in the headlights. In his mind, he tried to process what was going on but his mind wouldn't let him. What he saw ahead of him made him so angry, he saw red. He knew he had to get revenge on whoever it was. But first, he had to help who was standing in the rain on this little two lane road in the middle of nowhere.
