I had to fix some minor mistakes, but nice reviews only please! :) Xx
7 years old Opie Taylor was tossing and turning in his bed, having a nightmare. All sudden he jolts up from his slumber, breathing heavily. "Paw!" He yelled. "Paw!" Opie gets out of his bed, running out of his room and bumps into his father, Andy Taylor, the sheriff of Mayberry.
"Opie, what is it son?" Andy asked.
Opie just wraps his arm around his father's stomach.
"Oh Paw, it was awful!" Opie cried.
"Well come on son," Andy said, leading his only son back to Opie's room. "Now you settle down on your bed and tell your paw what happened."
"I had a dream about mommy and she was in the hospital." Opie told his father. "At first she was saying "It's ok baby boy, I'm still with you. I love you and your paw." and then she disappears."
Andy looks down at the floor, his wife, Opie's mother died of illness when Opie was only 2 ½ years old. He hated that Opie had a dream of his mother dying in front of him.
"Come here Ope." Andy started as he sat Opie on his lap. "It's ok son, mommy is with the angels now."
"She's...never coming back ain't she?" Opie asked.
"No son." Andy told him. "But she is with us, in spirit."
"How do you know?" Opie asked innocently.
"Because I'm your paw." Andy smiled.
"Doesn't she love us?" Opie asked.
"Son, your mommy loves us to pieces and she would want us to be happy." Andy told his son.
"How can I be happy when mommy is not around anymore?" Opie asked.
"I know it's hard son, but I know your mommy would be really happy to know that we are happy and fine, she would really love that smile of yours." Andy said.
Opie smiles a little.
"Paw, did mom sing a song when I was a baby?" Opie asked him.
"She sure did." Andy smiled.
"Could you sing it to me Paw?" Opie asked. "With your guitar?"
Andy chuckles at his son.
"Of course son, come on." Andy said as he took his son's hand and they went to Andy's room.
Opie climbs on the bed while Andy grabs his guitar, sitting down in front of his son. He started playing and singing the song that his wife used to sing their baby boy to sleep.
"Goodnight baby boy..." Andy sings, "Don't you cry, mommy and daddy are here with you...making sure that you are safe...and happy…"
Opie was getting sleepy now.
"We won't let anybody or anything scare you..." Andy sang. "You are our little boy...Goodnight baby….boy." Once Andy was done, he smiled warmly at his sleeping son. He gently soothes his red hair. "Goodnight baby boy, I love you son." Andy said.
He lay down, holding his son close to him and then thought of his wife. He misses her dearly and never wanted to love anyone but her, but he knew she wanted him to be happy and have a mom for Opie. He looked at his sleeping son in his arms, he was glad he still had Opie. He would do anything to make his boy happy, safe, warm and have the best life.
