Chuck Cunningham was leaving for the war, and the family were inside after helping Chuck put his stuff in his car. "Well Chuck, we're gonna miss you son." Howard said to his eldest son.
"Thanks dad, I'm gonna miss you." Chuck said, hugging his dad.
"Oh why can't you stay and play basketball?" Marion cried as she hugged her son in her arms. "Oh my baby is leaving me!"
"Marion!" Howard scolded.
Chuck chuckles at his mom.
"I'll be fine, I promise." Chuck smiled.
He hugs both of his parents before turning to his younger siblings.
"Well big bro, have a nice and safe trip..." Richie told his brother. "I'm gonna miss you."
Chuck pulls him for a tight hug.
"You take care little brother." He told his brother. "And look out for Joanie too."
Richie smiled as they pulled away from the hug.
"Ya know I will." Richie smiled as he rubbed Joanie's shoulder.
"Joanie, promise me you won't grow up too fast." Chuck smiled.
Joanie smiled up at her elder brother.
"Don't worry Chucky, I'll always be your and Richie's baby sister." Joanie assured him as Chuck smiled as he hugged her and kissed her head.
"I'll write." Chuck says.
"You better." Richie smirks.
Chuck chuckles at his brother.
"Alright, well I gotta get going now." Chuck said as he draped his bag over his shoulder.
"Oh don't go baby boy!" Marion cried.
She hugged her eldest son tightly as she cried.
"Oh mom, please don't cry." Chuck said. "I'll be back."
"Stay safe my boy." Howard said.
"Will do dad." Chuck said smiling.
He walked to the door and turned to his family.
"Bye." Chuck said with a wave. "I love you all very much."
They waved to him and then Chuck walked out of the house while closing the door and then walked over to his car.
"Hey Cunningham!" Chuck looks over to see Richie's best friend, the Fonz!
"Oh hey Fonzie, what's up?" Chuck asked.
"Is your baby bro home?" Fonzie asked.
"Yeah, they're all inside." Chuck told him.
"Off to war?" Fonzie asked.
"Yep." Chuck said, putting his bags in his car.
"Stay safe kid." Fonzie spoke.
Chuck smiled.
"Thanks." He said, getting in his car. "Hey Fonz…"
Fonzie looks up at him.
"Yeah?" He asked.
"Look out for my baby brother and my baby sister…" Chuck told them. "Especially if they have nightmares…"
Fonzie puts his thumb up.
"No need to tell me." Fonzie said.
Chuck smiled.
"I'll keep Richie and Joanie safe." Fonzie added.
"Thanks Fonzie." Chuck smiled.
"Ayyy." Fonzie replied, making Chuck laugh a little.
"Bye Fonz." Chuck waved as he started his car.
"Bye kid." Fonzie said as Chuck drove off.
Fonzie turned around to see Richie walking over to him.
"Hey Fonz." Richie greeted him.
"Hey kid," Fonzie replied. "How are ya holding up?"
"Ok, but I'm gonna miss him." Richie tells him.
"Hey, hang in there kiddo." Fonzie said. "You still got a brother…me."
Richie smiled.
"Thanks Fonzie." Richie says.
"Ayyy, anything for my nerdy little bro." Fonzie winked.
Richie chuckles.
"C'mon, I'll take ya to Arnold's." Fonzie offers as he puts his hand on his shoulder.
So they walked off chatting and got on Fonzie's bike to drive to Arnold's.
