This is based after We both know how this ends but before the stranger so no Cyrus to cause issues, though he WILL be mentioned from time to time, just won't be an active part of the story is all. This is also going to be AU for Tron: Uprising and Tron: Legacy due to the changes that are made after that episode

Beck turns to Tron and undoes the Renegade disguise

"I've got to save them Tron, this is yours once again"

"Beck, what are you doing?"

"Goodbye"

Before Tron could stop him Beck goes into the building with bombs and manages to allow his friends to escape, but he himself didn't make it out before the building exploded and collapsed. His friends all yelled his name as one

"BECK!"

Tron froze for a few moments and then with more force then he'd used in a long while he put the two pieces of his disc together and puts it back on his back, once again becoming the famous Tron, though the helmet was up for the moment, but only for the moment, he stood up and shouted one name initially, and that name was obviously filled with rage

"TESLER!"

"Ah, Renegade, how...pleasant it is for you to join us"

"That was the last bomb and program you killed in that method"

"And what makes you say that anyways?"

Tron drops down in front of Beck's friends who he sacrificed his life for before speaking up again

"Simple, because I'm not the Renegade, I'm Tron"

"Tron. Is. Dead. I saw it myself"

"That's where you're wrong"

And with that he undoes the helmet and everyone could see that it truly was Tron

"Like I said I'm Tron"

"Tron...Tron Lives, it's true"

Tron makes sure to get Beck's friends to safety, which meant getting them to his base, and that's when everyone learned that while Tron hadn't been killed like believed he was severely injured, because he had pushed himself too hard, been away from the healing chamber too long and he collapsed with his scars very much visible and spreading, which he knew would happen since during the fight he could practically hear Beck's voice

During fight

Tron was fighting against Telser when suddenly he thought he heard Beck scolding him

"What are you doing Tron?, you know you can't fight him with those scars, they spread whenever you push yourself too hard and are away from your healing chamber too long. You have to retreat to fight another day, besides revenge isn't the way of the Renegade, nor is it truly you"

Tron ignored the voice in his head and did what he could to get everyone away, despite his flagging strength

Present

"Are you okay Tron?"

"I will be, I just need the healing chamber is all"

"Then we'll continue this conversation once you're better, good thing that we're off today"

The two wait while Tron was in his healing chamber and once he joined them again Mara speaks up

"What do we do now?"

"Yeah I mean...everything's happened so fast that..."

"I tell Able what's happened to you two and Beck and then...if you wish I begin training you two to take over Beck's job as the Renegade"

"But...but Tesler knows you're alive now, won't he suspect something if we show up?"

"Not for long, I don't normally do it, but I implanted a virus during our fight so that he'll forget, only two people know the truth about me and only because I wish it so"

"I see, there's still one small issue, hiding my true gender whenever I'm acting as the Renegade"

"Two Mara, we're going to have to make sure that the voice is disguised well enough that no one can tell if it's a male or female speaking, that is if we go along with this, which I think you're convinced to do so, and I'm halfway there already I must admit"

"Before the training begins though I'm going to have you two do something I don't think Beck ever allowed himself to do when his friend was lost. Mourn Beck's loss before you commit to this action, actually think through the consequences before you do something you'll later regret"

"When...when will you tell Able?"

"Soon, I already sent a signal to him including a meeting place"

"When did you do this?"

"Right after I finished with the healing chamber"

"I see...I want to come with you when you meet with him, he...he might want proof"

"No, he knows me Mara, and thus he'll know I speak the truth even without evidence"

"But..."

"Listen, not only is he your boss, you two need to start the grieving process before you return to work, which might be before Able is able to inform everyone else of what's happened. The garage might get in trouble if you two start acting differently without any real reason before the truth is out"

"Beck's absence would be noticed too you know"

"I know, but my signal was an emergency signal which means that Beck needs a cover story so he's already covered, the two of you are not"

"We go back to work tomorrow though, that's not...not really enough time to begin grieving, not truly anyways"

"I...have a way of making the process go a little faster where you'll at least keep your composure tomorrow, but it's not pleasant according to Beck and thus it's up to you if you wish to use this option or not"

Ultimately they both take the slightly faster, but much rougher method to deal with their grief, they also discussed one of them being at the garage while the other was acting as the Renegade as cover, something Beck never had, except through Able apparently and even then Able hadn't always been able to cover Beck's absences

"That might be for the best, but only if we get the suit to hide Mara's gender, for now, here's what you need in order to at least start the grieving process"

And so Tron gives the two devices that he had created shortly after his rescue by Cyrus, originally as a means of giving potential successors quicker training to take up his mantle, but modified when he'd realized that Beck needed to properly deal with his grief regarding his friend's death. While they were dealing with their grief Tron met up with Able and told him about how Beck was dead and that Mara and Zed had witnessed it and were now dealing with their grief and how

"I'm going to record a message for them that I need you to give to those two once the device has run it's course"

"Understood"

"I just hope that they don't also get your memories Tron, some of those memories..."

"I know, I also hope the same, but if they do get those memories I'll do what I can to help them cope with them, especially...well especially the ones immediately after the betrayal"

"Right, well I have a message to record and then...then I have to do something I was hoping would never happen again while I was still here"

And so Tron and Able separate and Tron finds the two still using the device to cope with Beck's loss. Once they were done it was very, very obvious they had also gained Tron's memories from his time from ENCOM, up to the present, which included his torture by Dyson

"I'm sorry you two, you were never supposed to have seen those memories of mine"

"It happened and now we have to deal with it"

"I can delete those specific memories if you wish"

"How?"

"I learned how the hard way, but I can do it, it won't be pleasant, but it will be better than dealing with another person's memories"

"Again, how did you learn, and why?"

"Able, he once viewed my memories in the early days of me dealing with the aftermath of Clu's betrayal and my torture, it wasn't intentional, instead he had been looking at my disk to try and figure out if there was anything he could do to either heal me or make getting around easier until I could walk again. He actually asked me to modify his memories so that he wouldn't remember what he'd seen in regards to my torture ever again and though it took a little time and work I eventually managed to figure out that the device you used, and my disk leave behind some code that can be deleted by anyone, no medic codes needed"

"What kind of code and what's the catch?"

"It's code that's only meant for security programs that allows us to share training with each other if needed or reports of events that others might not have been involved in at the moment but might be involved in in the future, and thus why anyone can remove it not just medics, and there really is no catch, primarily because my code is unique in that when I came to this system with Flynn I specifically asked that my code be made removable for this very reason, and by anyone who might discover my code transferred to them by accident"

"Then if you made that request how come you learned the hard way?"

"Two reasons, first of all I'd never had to do that before and thus wasn't sure how to go about doing it safely the first time around, second of all Flynn didn't completely agree to my request which made doing what I needed to do a little tricky, but I think I know how to make it a little easier this time around since I've done it once already"

Mara and Zed look at each other and then nod in agreement

"I think we'll keep these memories, at least for now, it allows us to understand you a bit better, plus we'll be able to keep you under control around Dyson, like Beck did that one time"

"Very well, but if they get too overwhelming let me know and I'll delete them"

"Understood"

"Now then Able left a message for the two of you so I suggest you listen and then we'll go from there, I don't know what he recorded by the way, I made sure to give him that needed privacy"

And so Mara and Zed found out they were being given a week off while Able told the rest of the garage about Beck's death and that the two had seen it themselves and needed time to deal with it before returning to work, something that Able should have forced Beck to do when Bhodi had been lost

"During this week, if you've decided to become my successor then I will be training you two intensely"

Ultimately the two did indeed decide to become Tron's successor, just like Beck had been and they were definitely trained intensely for the week that they were supposedly grieving Beck's loss. The two also agreed to keep an eye on Tron, just like Beck had done, but with two of them they had a better chance of catching problems before they became fatal, at least that was their hope, they also created a schedule so that they could cover for each other with Able's help

"With two of us as Tron, or well, the Renegade we can always cover for each other in saying that we were working together, or on a trip for Able, plus while one of us works the other can do action against the Occupation and if one of us is injured as the Renegade we can cover each other's injuries too by continuing to fight"

"I get it, they will be fooled into thinking the injury wasn't as bad as they thought it was supposed to be, either that or there was no injury at all even though it was believed to have happened"

"Exactly"

"I think I'm going to enjoy fooling the Occupation regularly"

"Same, though I wish..."

"Yeah, same here, but things are what they are and only time will heal those wounds"

"Yeah"

The two returned to the garage at the end of the week and acted subdued, like they were still in hard grieving mode but coping with what they'd seen, at least somewhat coping anyways

"How are you two doing?"

"It's...it's not easy Able, but at least we're getting sleep, interrupted as it is anyways"

"My office you two"

The two head to Able's office and then he speaks up again

"Okay Mara, Zed, how are you really doing? I have a feeling what you said with the others hearing the conversation was a lie for protection"

"Not a lie, not only are Tron's memories of being Clu's prisoner nightmare material, while the device has helped speed up the process slightly we both had a couple of nightmares about Beck's death"

"I see, well since you're aware that I know about you guys knowing about Tron if it gets bad let either him or I know and we'll do something"

"We will, also we'll need your help covering for us"

"You've decided to become his successors then"

"Yeah, most of the week was doing intense training during the days with rest at night so that we didn't burn ourselves out, too bad our physical exhaustion did nothing for nightmares"

"I see, if you need more time let me know okay?"

"Will do, but...I think it might be best that we get back to our normal routines, what did you tell the others regarding Beck's death?"

"That he saved the two of you from an explosion, Paige knows also since she was there when Telser...I think you know, Tesler admits that he was trying to lure out the Renegade but also says he didn't intend to hurt mechanics, that the explosives were not originally intended to be used"

"I see, at least...at least if we're asked about his death we won't have to lie too much"

"True, there is that at least...look I need a favor from the two of you"

"We'll keep an eye on Tron for you, promise"

"Thanks"

And so time passed and Mara and Zed used the fact that there were two Renegades and not one to great effectiveness, tricking the Occupation into thinking that they weren't wounded, or it wasn't as bad as believed regularly, plus they covered for each other on occasion at work too. They also noticed Tron getting weaker and weaker each day, the scars affecting him more and more, the healing chamber not as effective as before and met in private one day
