Spy Museum

Thea was not overly excited about going to the Spy Museum until she watched the glee on Clem's face as they passed the entrance. After a few minutes of sad puppy-dog eyes, Clem had won and that is how they came to be crawling through a simulated tunnel, one from each side. They eventually met in the middle of the tunnel, and without hesitation, they kissed. And then they were making out until Thea pulled back and smiled at her lover.

Clem tilted her head, and stared at Thea's lips before stating, "I wish we weren't in public."

Thea glanced around whispered, "There is probably a gender neutral bathroom around here." She thought for a minute and scrunched up her nose. "Of course the number of surface germs likely found on any surface of the bathroom, probably qualifies as a bio-hazard." She looked up at Clem and grimaced. "So that's a hard no."

Clem couldn't help but laugh at the blonde, finding her thought process adorable. "So no sex in a public restroom. Noted."

After leaving the museum, they walked around the Mall and made their way to the Lincoln Memorial. Jane had to admit it was rather impressive and asked Thea to take her picture of her at the monument.

"Did you know there is often a birds nest in the top of Lincoln's head?"

"Ah...noooooo." She glanced at Thea to see if she was being serious. She was. She was quickly coming to realize that Thea knew a lot of stuff. Some of it interesting, some important and a lot of it...useless.

"How about we go see the Einstein Memorial, grab some lunch, head back to the hotel, rest and then get dinner?"

They hailed a taxi and chatted about nothing of consequence until they arrived at the National Academy of Sciences. If Clem had been like a small child at the Spy Museum, Thea was like the little girl who asked for and actually got a pony for her birthday at the Einstein Memorial.

She buzzed around the memorial peppering Clem with every kind of fact regarding Einstein with the glee of a six year old at the circus. Clem enjoyed watching someone take so much pleasure from something so simple. She listened patiently, commenting when appropriate. As Thea began to slow down, she noticed Clem was watching her with a smile on her face.

In a moment of exuberance, Thea wrapped her arms around the taller woman and kissed her. Clem deepened the kiss and threaded her fingers through the blonde's hair, pulling her closer. Just over Thea's shoulder, she caught a security guard watching them and turning away in disgust. She immediately stepped back from Thea, and used her hand to wipe her mouth.

Wanting to put as much distance between them and the guard, she quickly hailed a taxi and all but pushed Thea into the car. She made sure their doors were locked and then pulled the smaller woman to her, holding on for dear life as images floated through her mind of the summer before her senior year of high school.

"Clem? What is it? What happened back there?"

"I promise I'll tell you at lunch, ok? I just need a little bit, ok"

Thea stroked the raven haired woman's face, searching her eyes for what, she didn't know. She wasn't surprised when Clem moved away from her, but was glad when she kept her hand entwined with her own. Eventually, Clem closed her eyes and rested her head against the car window.

Once they were in Washington Station, Clem told Thea to pick the restaurant. She wasn't surprised when the shorter woman chose a place called Chopt that specialized in artisan salads, but she was less than thrilled.

Thea smiled. "Green leafy vegetables are an important part of your daily diet."

"If you can put that on a pizza and make it taste good, I'm in. Otherwise..."

They paused the conversation as the waiter brought them bread and wine. Once that was served, Thea pinned Clem with a look.

Clem took a couple of deep breaths, trying to figure out how to start. She finally settled on just jumping right in.

"At the memorial, when we ere kissing, a security guard was staring at us. Not in a nice way." She paused to see if Thea understood what she meant. The blonde nodded and motioned for her to continue.

Clem leaned in and in a harsh whisper she continued, "You are the first woman I've ever been with, but you are not the first woman I have been interested in."

Thea nodded and gestured for her date to go on, placing her hand protectively over Clem's.

"So...the summer before my senior year of high school, I worked at an ice cream shop. A girl...woman, a year older used to come in, and she was pretty. Really pretty." Clem chewed on her bottom lip as she remembered this woman. "She...she liked me and I liked her. It was that kind of thing when you're not sure if they like you, like you or if they are just overly friendly. Does that make sense?"

Thea understood what Clem meant, having been in similar situations herself. She nodded and waited for Clem to continue. She didn't have to wait long.

"She waited for me to close one night and then caught up with me as I left the shop. We just hung out, most of the night. It was fun and comfortable. I went to kiss her and she pulled back. I was afraid I had done something wrong and tried to get away, but she stopped me." Clem looked down. "She told me she really liked me and thought I was at least a little gay. I really hadn't thought about it very much, but I knew I wanted to kiss her." Clem shrugged. "And we almost did. She stopped me and told me to really think about what kissing her could lead to and what that might mean."

"Might mean?"

Clem nodded. "I didn't understand what she meant then, but in a couple of days I did." She took a drink of wine and played with her glass. "I told her I had thought about it and I was in. So we made a date for later that night, down near the water." Clem paused, swallowing hard. "I was late getting there and when I arrived, a few of the guys from my school were there taunting her. I should have stepped forward, but I didn't. She caught my eye and shook her head." Clem shook her head in what could only be called disbelief. "I watched as they called her dyke, lezzy, muff diver, told her just needed the right man." Clem held her hands up in askance. "They ended up spray painting the word dyke on the hood of her car."

"Did the hurt her?"

Clem shook her head. "Not physically, no. It did, however, leave a mark on me."

"How so?"

Clem considered how much to tell her date. She wanted to tell Thea that that incident is what made her decide to become a cop. To help people. However, her profession is the exact reason she didn't tell her the whole story. She opted for the edited version.

"I work in...public service."

Thea brightened up. "That's wonderful!"

For the first time since she started telling this story, she smiled. "You really think so?" Thea nodded and took Clem's hand in her own. "Unfortunately, my area is in a male dominated field and this," she gestured between them, "is not popular." She looked away, remembering her lone foray into the "gay" section of town and bumping into a senior officer at BPD.

She had plead ignorance the next day when that same officer took her aside and cautioned her about her "activities," her co-workers and the less enlightened views of the fellow officers who would have her back in dangerous situations.

"So when that security guard looked at us today, it brought all of that back?" Clem nodded. Thea suddenly asked, "What happened with your friend?"

"Well, she was heading off to college and she decided to leave early." Clem shrugged. "Never saw her again."

They finished eating and then went for ice cream, walking arm in arm as the sun began it's descent. Thea snatched a lick of Clem's strawberry ice cream cone and then leaned into her, whispering, "I would very much like to take you back to the room and...take care of you."

Once they were back in the room, they slowly came together, kissing. Clem tried to undo Thea's shirt, but the blonde gently took the raven haired woman's hands in her own and shook her head. "Let me take care of you, ok" What she really wanted to say was let me make love to you, let me take your pain for just a little bit.

Finally, Clem nodded and stood still as Thea began to undress her, easing first her pants and then her panties down. She then made quick work of the shirt and bra Clem was wearing, before easing her back toward the bed, and helping her lie down, naked.

Thea stood back up and maintaining eye contact with Clem, she deliberately undressed, making a show out of removing her bra and panties. Clem took in the taught form of her lover, biting her upper lip at what she thought was taking entirely too long.

"Thea." The name came out as a plea.

Thea shushed her as she climbed up on the bed and positioned herself on top of Clem. She began kissing her and touching her with such reverence, Clem thought she might cry. She gasped instead as Thea settled between her legs and gently sucked on her clit. Thea spent ample time on the clit, before inserting first one then two fingers into the raven haired woman. Her hips came off the bed and soon she was calling the blonde's name—Thea. The smaller woman faltered upon hearing not her name, but her made up name, falling from the dark haired woman's lips.

Thea moved up the bed to hold her lover and pulled the covers over them, wrapping her in a loving embrace.

"Sleep my love, sleep."
