Chapter 3: Catching Interest
Hinata was less nervous when facing off Date tech oddly enough. He was intensely focused through the first several points they won. The second round Kageyama finally released his mate.
"Give me your fastest and highest jump and I'll get the ball to you." Kageyama smirked down at his happily grinning mate. The omega was sure to do just that more than eager to freak out others.
With a burst of quick movements Hinata and Kageyama delivered exactly that. Sending the crowd wild over the speed and how Hinata was just there. After the initial shock wore off and Hinata was moved in and out of the court switching with their libero he was finally brought back in.
Hinata heard Kageyama murmur they would do it again and gave an affirmative toward him. The ball was sent over clipping the net and Nishinoya retrieved it, but it went a bit wild.
Kageyama didn't even bat an eye and sent it in a flash toward Hinata who slammed it down just as quick, sending the opposite team into another state of shock.
Date tech took a time out and returned intent on stopping Karasunos number ten. He was just so fast and quick at tricking their own block timing though. The more they focused attention on Hinata the more the decoy shined.
Until finally he blazed a path for Karasuno's ace. A path for Asahi's redemption. It was the moment for the teen to remember how a route just opens up, like a spotlight for him to shine on his own, if for just a moment.
Hinata's hunger for volleyball grew in that moment as well. He didn't even touch the ball or make the spike but he came to life by making others follow him as the decoy.
From then on Date was split on trying to shut down Karasunos number ten and stopping the ace and spikers. Until Karasunmo finally took the first set.
As the second set began Asahi shared a moment of regret toward the tallest first year. "Apologies Tsukishima, you seem to have to face date techs number seven more often. Aone is a difficult one to go against."
Tsukishima made a soft noise waving off the comment. "No one expects me to go up against number seven and win. Rocking the house is Hinata's job. My job is to hold down the fort while he's in the back row. It's expected besides their blockers are focused on you." The blonde glanced back at his red haired mate who was intensely key up.
When the second set began each team was fighting point for point. Until Hinata was brought back to the front, with him there Karasuno racked up points as they had to divide attention between the bright omega and the other spikers.
Date tech called another time out this time on their return it was still a push and pull for points.
When Asahi and Tsukishima met again in the front with Hinata in the back the ace spoke to their tall middle blocker once more.
"It amazes me that you can hold the fort down against date techs number seven while Hinata is in the back row." Tsukishima looked uncertain for a moment. "I know Kageyama and Hinata are pivotal in our offensive attacks but it's vital we can survive while they are unable to do so. Holding down the fort as you said is the link to our victory."
Tsukishima took that and stood at the aces side to help them dreg up a block out soon afterward. Hinata was brought back out to the frot and Tsukishima could only be mildly impressed while his small mate drew attention or slammed down points for them.
Then Nishinoya was in and Hinata was out standing by Yamaguchi on the sidelines. "That number seven is really amazing." Yamaguchi was a bit awed but Hinata looked toward their powerful ace.
"Yeah, but we have our ace on our side, so we have nothing to worry about." Hinata ignored the look of curiosity Tadashi gave him focused on watching the match.
The game went on until Karasuno's match point and facing a joust that Asahi lost but Nishinoya caught with his foot. It eased something in the libero omega to have saved his mate from the possible disappointment.
With everyone regrouping it was Asahi's final moment to shine on his own without Hinata there to blaze a path, he had to do so on his own. With the ball landing on date techs side Karasuno won their second match and broke into loud cheers.
After the match and line up the ever silent Aone reached out to shake the surprised Hinata's hand. Tsukishima eyed him for a moment but they shook hands and separated and even the tall first year had nothing to complain about.
Hinata and Kageyama hesitated on their way out. They looked to oikawa across the gym and knew they would have to face them, but either way they would do their best.

Though their best wasn't good enough it would seem. Despite their grit and determination they had lost and Hinata felt so much guilt as he had only seen they had lost afterwards. He had shut his eyes and missed the moment and it ate away at him.
It had only pissed off the omega when Kageyama tried to apologize for giving him the last ball and Hinata nearly slapped him instead choosing to yell in the alphas face.
Tadashi was drowning in his own guilt at having failed in his debut serve. Everyone gathered haunted by their loss as Ukai made them eat through their tears and pain so they could remember this feeling. So they would fight to never face it again. So they could be stronger for next time.
It was silent in the dorms of the Karasuno volleyball club members that night. Though that silence was not something that could last or stay.
With a hunger for victory growling in their stomachs the third years decided to stay on. To continue to guide their baby crows.
For Hinata something had to change. The last match proved even subconsciously that he had to find a way to see the view from the summit. It had to be something he had to learn to do without Kageyama's help as well.
So he pushed and climbed and dug his hands to make that climb where he could. Kageyama at his side kept him motivated as he kept the setter driven. Tsukishima frowned noting they came home later than usual after practices, neglecting their studies.
It all would end badly should his two idiots fall behind in other aspects of life.
Though soon afterward in Usual fashion Taketa came scrambling into the gym with good news.
"Nekoma's coach has invited us to the Tokyo training camp, we will be playing alongside several other teams as well." Hinata saw this as an opportunity and his focus became even more intense.
That wound up getting the two volleyball idiots lost during practice the next day. Daichi was stating to think putting Hinata and Kageyama versus one another during drills was a bad idea.
Though Tsukishima and Tadashi did glare after the morons who disappeared from sight. They both still agreed though, they were damn fast.
Getting lost did lead Hinata and Kageyama to meet Ushijimia Wakatoshi the powerful ace from Shiratorizawa who had been the one to take down Oikawa. Crossing paths with the intimidating older teen was not something either of the freak duo ever thought they would encounter. Ushijima recognized Kageyama Tobio as he saw him as second best to Oikawa.
The towering ace eyed the Omega and his collar almost a moment in thought allowing the duo to jog with him to his school. He observed them roam until the topic of Oikawa came into conversation.
Ushijima stated easily where he stood on the topic. "-Seijoh is barren soil where Oikawa will waste his talents."
A change in demeanor shrouded the small omega and the large Alpha zeroed in on the dark cloud of energy that seemed to emulate through the pretty thing.
"If Seijoh is barren soil then that must make us concrete or something, right?" Hinata was narrowly focused on the ace who practically salivated at the promise of a challenge in the omegas eyes. Never had his instinct to claim, to dominate to ruin ever been so strong.
He wanted the omega as a reminder that he was stronger, better, everything he could not be. He had to be careful though, omegas were rare and he had priorities to pave for a future, one he could use the omega for.
Kageyama could slightly taste the danger in the air around the other alpha but he had never seen his mate like this before and didn't want to interrupt Hinata.
"I apologize if I hit a nerve, but someone on a team that can't even beat Aoba Johsai can talk all they want but they are nothing to me." All their attention was drawn to a stray volleyball that coursed their way.
Ushijimia jumped to capture the ball but in a flash of movements the red haired omega was suddenly there risen high above him catching the ball with ease.
Ushijimia's inner alpha growled in want getting a glimpse of that athletic ability. He wanted to destroy his spirit and taste him as he cried in defeat. He wanted his mate to make the omega submit to their will, to prove he was strong on the court.
"I'm Shoyo Hinata from the concrete. I will crush you and go to nationals." Hinata shoved the ball back into the taller hands when a teacher interrupted them.
The omega listened with half an ear bowed and began to leave. "When you lose Hinata Shoyo from the concrete you will heed a request of mine." The small red head offered a single nod knowing partly what a request from an unknown alpha would mean. He did not break stride though and continued away.
Kageyama let him walk ahead but looked the large ace in the eyes. "If Oikawa is what you see as the best, then I will become even greater and next time you try to proposition someone's mate be aware not all of them will hope back on punching your lights out. Excuse us." With that the young alpha turned to follow after his mate.

Regrouping with the team later reminded the two volleyball idiots that they had exams…and that if they failed any subjects they were going to be screwed.
"Kageyama's stopped breathing!" Yamaguchi freaked out when two of his mates had full blown panic attacks. In two very different ways. As proven by Hinata running around the gym a nervous wreck.
Returning to the student dorm they shared it was also revealed by an ignorant Kageyama what the Shiratorizawa ace made Hinata promise.
You could say Tsukishima lost his cool for a moment.
"-You absolute moron! What the heck were you thinking! And you King! You should have shut that guy down!" Yamaguchi had internally groaned while watching Tsukishima lose his shit at their two mates.
It was serious though, this guy could force their omega to do anything and it didn't sit well with Tsukishima. Not one bit.
This dangerous situation his omega got himself in absolutely pissed off his blonde alpha.
"You both are going to study I don't care what you want. There is no way I will allow you to miss this training camp." Tsukishima was practically hysterical.
If Kageyama and Hinata were demons on the court Tsukishima was a demon when making them study. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Before practice after practice on the way back to the dorms during water breaks.
He was relentless in forcing them to study and cram so much information into their skulls.
Hinata was worn out from the entire situation. So, when Kiyoko brought in a new manager Hitoka Yachi Hinata jumped at the chance to make her feel welcome. He knew she was also part of the nannies service like Shimizu Kiyoko who were usually later on assigned to a household with bonded mates. They helped look after any children omegas had as part of the government program and usually all the girls and men in the program were called left off betas.
Some betas didn't have bond partners and had low pheromones so were usually later on adopted into households and it was generally female betas that sadly didn't have bond groups or partners.
Usually, it meant the betas original bond partners suffered a tragic fate before their betas could come of age and perished,or were so old they had passed their years of fertility and could no longer hold pheromones strong enough to attract their beta mate to bond with them.
This was why the nanny service was created as it could naturally create a bond attachment for those who slipped out of the norm. As alphas and omegas had overpowering pheromones that let them be easily attached to other bonds if they lose their original ones.
In return omegas generally had them added to the household as part of a community and provided children from the dominant of their choosing for them as well if necessary. Alphas would do their best to impregnate the women or allow male betas in the program to impregnate their fertile mates.
Kiyoko was already part of two groups the third years and second years were her adopted families. Yachi was just starting off and had yet to be either assigned or asked after by a bonded group. The first year was used for these betas to associate and finds a foothold in future or already bonded groups.
The girl had been extremely nervous but Hinata was a friendly force of nature. It was hard not to slightly fall in love with the little omega. So, he had somehow wrangled the girl into becoming another tutor for Kageyama and himself to give his still fuming blonde alpha some breathing space.
The arrangement worked on not only helping Hinata and Kageyama but on boosting Yachi's comfort level and her own inner strength. Even Tsukishima could not deny that Hinata and Kageyama were improving faster with the extra help from Yachi. Yamaguchi was a stuttering mess around the girl and his mates all found it adorable.
Though Yachi found her niche with the first year unbonded mates, on her end it was because of the passionate omega and alpha freak duo. Seeing the seriousness and raw want they had for the sport during their practice match against Ouhinishi it secured the girls determination to be part of their growth. Either as part of their group or outside of it.
In anyway she could she wished to see the strength that inspired her, because like Hinata had told her. 'Do you need a reason not to want to lose?' Watching the small crow in action really made the beta feel like following after him would be something worthwhile.
When all was said and done every single one of them passed their exams, even the freak duo. So all of Kurasuno easily took the trip down for the training camp. It was in the middle of a practice match Hinata could see everyone adjusting to their freak quick attack.
Even though they won a practice match Hinata knew he needed to do more to become strong. He had to find a way to fight on his own despite not knowing how or where to start.
Regardless being in his own thoughts only momentarily distracted by other players Hinata vaguely felt like he was being watched.
Well he was, from nearly everyone in the room. There were only five omegas in the room three of which were bonded and Hinata was the only one pure of any bond or scent.
It was just unlucky of the omega to encounter Nekoma's newest middle blocker while his mind was already shaken. It only drove the small red head to wanting to evolve and demand it of the other's around him.
He declared as much by telling Kageyama he would hit spikes with his eyes wide open. Kageyama didn't agree and Hinata was unsatisfied with his fear of trying. When they returned to school to try out Hinata's thought process it was all just going so wrong.
This thought is what let to the situation at hand. Hinata and Kageyama practically trying to maim one another about changing concepts, about the evolution of all their work. Kageyama wanted it to be up to him whereas Hinata needed the freedom to make it more. Tanaka came in at Yachi's instance and stopped the fight but there was damage done between the two. Tanaka outright punched Kageyama but with the delicate omega he had scooped him up smothering him in a hug till he calmed down. His instincts would not allow him to harm the omega. Though Kageyama had done all the emotional damage for the two of them.
Hinata blazed a path to the student dorms packed his stuff ignoring Yamaguchi's worried comments and Tsukishima's questioning before taking his bike storming past Kageyama and trekking up a mountain to return to his family home. Fighting tears the whole way because he had a mate who refused to let him stand on his own. Who thought so little of him that he doubted the omega and it crushed something inside him to know that.
He was hurt because for the first time he had thought he had a partner not just a friend but he found he had been fooling himself, or his instincts were clouding his mind. Either way he needed to not be around Kageyama or else he was going to say or do something they would both regret.
Hinata needed to improve on his own if he wanted a setter to work with him first. So, the first thing he did the next day after school and avoiding his mates he left to see coach Ukai. Well, to ask advice mostly. It had surprised coach Ukai but it was a welcoming venture for the omega to begin seeking out.
"How do I improve; how do I train to become better?" His earnest expression made Ukai cement his own decision and he took the omega to the one source that could train him fast enough. His father the original Karasuno crows' coach Ukai.
Kageyama had been scolded by Yamaguchi for several hours and Tsukishima was pissed telling him 'You fix this, or we will all be pissed off at you too.'
The setter found it unfair, He was right dammit! They should have been mad at Hinata for not doing as he said.
So, confounded by it all Kageyama was driven out of the dorm and wandered until he unfortunately ran into Oikawa who was babysitting. Kageyama swallowed his pride and asked for advice though, if he could get Oikawa to agree with his way, he was sure he could bring that to Hinata to make him concede.
"So, you told him to just 'do what I tell you to do.' Or something along those lines didn't you. There's the dictator I know." Oikawa was smug when saying this to the younger setter who only frowned in response.
"Have you put any thought into it? About if you are giving chibi chan the tosses he wants? Have you ever even tried to?" Oikawa grew more smug with each question.
"If you are looking at this situation thinking it's the best it can be and being defensive about it then you are just a coward. You shouldn't get the wrong idea, the one in control of an attack isn't you, it's chibi chan. If you don't understand that, then you are just regressing back to the tyrant king." With his piece said Oikawa left making his nephew follow along.
Now the young setter doubted himself just a bit more.
Hinata was learning from old coach Ukai that the freak quick was in his hands no matter what. Kageyama did not control aerial play that was all on him and his abilities.
So, he set himself to train so he could bring something more for his skill set to ensure his setter could see him evolve and work with him on evolving at his side. It started a domino effect, Hinata's hunger to be better that was slowly beginning to spread.
At the next practice neither Hinata nor Kageyama acknowledged one another to the worry of everyone else. Tsukishima glared at his idiot king while Yamaguchi twittered nervously at his side. Hinata was avoiding all his mates not just the king and neither were talking on the subject. It was driving Tsukishima in particular up the wall.
His mate was riding his bike over the mountain at night alone and the blonde alpha could not help but feel it was Kageyama's fault. The beta just wanted their omega back with them, and to soothe his raven haired alpha from his internal struggle.
Though when Yachi broached the topic about Hinata and Kageyama both Tsukishima and Yamaguchi strained to listen to what was said.
"Hinata, uhh you and Kageyama are you two umm-" Yachi started to fluster and Hinata only smiled gently.
"We're fine." That simple phrase eased Hinata's other two mates briefly. "I have stuff I need to accomplish away from them for a while though." The red head was beaming as he went to the opposite court ignoring the way all three of his mates somewhat deflated.
Tadashi used this reprieve to focus on practicing his serves though, he figured if his two mates were working so hard then he should as well.
When they were on their way to the second round of training at the Tokyo cam Yamaguchi was practically clinging to the omega. Hinata was happily chatting with him but everyone still felt a tension because Hinata and Kageyama refused to talk to one another still.
Though Tsukishima and Yamaguchi seamed at ease so the worry diminished for a bit. Though Tsukishima was sticking close to the king for now, even if it was just in a physical sense.
Arriving to a different school for training though was met with Hinata getting a lot of attention from Kenma and the tall alpha Lev who seemed fascinated with the red head.
Though getting right into the first match Kageyama came up a little short shocking himself his team and mostly his tiny mate. The second time he flubbed the toss it was Hinata's turn to surprise everyone by saving the ball left handed.
Shoyo and Tobio shared a moment sizing one another up now, realizing they had both changed. They were both working on improving for the betterment of themselves and one another.
Though it wasn't just the freak duo many members of the Karasuno team changed as well. Though it seemed Tsukishima had not gotten the memo.
Despite his aversion to extra practice Kei was still tricked into some extra work by Kuroo and Bokuto, until Kuroo decided to salt and old would concerning him and his currently distant mate Hinata that link up terribly similarly to his older brother's situation.
Despite all that Tsukishima still inquired how other's felt about the fact that someone with monstrous talent like Hinata was sneaking up on them. Though the answer of it only igniting a burning desire to become part of that evolution was not what the blond middle blocker had expected.
When Hinata heard Tsukishima being invited for block practice with a top five ace like Bokuto he felt a twinge of disappointment toward his mate for not taking up the offer.
Yamaguchi overhearing Hinata complain about it jumped at the opportunity to ask what he would say to motivate Tsukishima. Hinata only looked at his mate with a frown. "I wouldn't say anything. I just don't know if Tsukishima even wants to play volleyball or not. Nothing comes from saying 'let's play' to someone who doesn't want to play." Hinata began to pout "It sucks because he's so tall and I feel like he's wasting an opportunity."
"I don't think Tsukki hates volleyball or he wouldn't have come to Karasuno." Yamaguchi responded a bit confused himself.
Tadashi frowned and charged out of the gym calling for Tsukki because he needed to do his part as someone who was his childhood friend. He needed to talk some sense into his mate or else he would be left behind and Tadashi was not going to let that happen. Yamaguchi did spur Tsikishima to go out and seek some answers to lingering questions. He just had to find a cat and owl to do so.
While they had their heart to heart Shoyo and Tobio were working on their own issues with their practice.
Kageyama and Hinata were quickly finding they needed to practice separate for a little while longer after some difficulties in syncing up.

The progress so to say from Tsukishima's enlightenment came at practice the next day. Where for once he spoke up on a strategy to fight back against a spiker like Bokuto. Hinata felt a flutter in his heart because it felt like the first time Tsukishima was getting into volleyball. It felt like they finally had a base to bind them as friends.
When the blonde alpha pressured Bokuto into retreating by a feint he shared a look with his mate. A look that was a challenge in a way and there in that gaze Hinata felt more than a spark for volleyball, but the first spark for a mate.
When their gazes broke Hinata jolted a moment and centered himself back onto the game.
During a match the next day despite all the supposed burning for evolution Hinata was still struggling with Kageyama's tosses. Until Kageyama gave him an easy single shot.
All hell broke loose with Hinata nearly snarling in his mates face. "Hey! You held back, didn't you!" No one had ever seen the omega so furious, they were all stunned a moment.
"Held back? Me, with Volleyball?" Kageyama's expression was cold fury as he glared right back in his fuming mates face. "Say that again." He gripped Hinata's shirt yanking him closer.
"That wasn't the falling toss." Hinata shoved the frozen and horrified Kageyama away while Yamaguchi looked to Tsukishima.
"It wasn't?" He looked concerned glancing between their two most volatile mates.
"I have no clue, Hinata's pure animal instincts are the only thing that could sense that." Tsukishima eyed the angry omega warily.
"Don't you dare stop trying Kageyama!" Tanaka was holding back the furious red head at that point but still the words had made their point.
Later the evening Hinata and Kageyama separated from being anywhere each other during practice, not out of anger but necessity. They needed pure focus so Hinata sought out his other alpha Tsukishima.
He had originally tried to get Kenma to toss for him but the teen ran away after five tosses. He found his grouchy mate in the third gym with Bokuto, Akaashi and Kuroo. Tsukishima warily eyed the gym full of alphas save for the omega Akaashi. The black haired omega was bonded and collar though. Bokuto also seemed a bit to sporadic for his mate to be approached for joining a community with them. Communities were built and you truly mingled with the partners, sex was common between anyone in a community. Male omegas often even got one another pregnant just because of the tight knit bonds a community creates. Though it was far too early for Kei to be concerned with bonds and who his mates decided to tie their group to. Hell, he was fighting the urge to lick his mates scent glands and growl at the offending alphas in the room.
He tucked his omega close to him trying to find a way to keep his little mate from being harassed so they could practice.
He would have sent him off to practice elsewhere but Kageyama was occupied, Yamaguchi was as well and Shoyo and Kei shared the same position, it was better they learn and train together.
Tsukishima also didn't want to risk his mate be alone in another gym full of strange alphas who saw a vulnerable unclaimed omega. Nope, that was a bit no no for Kei.
Kuroo had been impressed Hinata had tricked his own mate Kenma into personal practice time. He was about to bait the omega to train with them but Lev in the room and both he and Hinata asked if they could join in practice.
Kuroo seeing no harm in it agreed and divided up the teams snickering at Tsukishima's annoyed expression when separated from his pretty little crow.
Hinata saw it as an exciting opportunity as did Bokuto…Akaashi just sighed in exhaustion.
They were stopped later on for dinner and to go to bed. That night despite his initial hesitance Tsukishima tugged Hinata's futon with the Omega laying atop it next to his own. Tadashi was on the other side and the alpha ignored his protesting small mate making him lie down to soothe his own frayed instincts. Kageyama was coerced into lying next to the very soothing Tadashi by their teasing upperclassmen.
The next evening Kei questioned Kuroo's motives for helping him and Hinata.
"I'm just a nice guy who's happy to help my volleyball friends." Kuroo responded but only got a shared look of doubt between the two first year mates.
"You don't have to look at me like that." Kuroo fidgeted but consented to give a more thorough answer. "Fine, I honestly want this dumpster showdown to happen. It means a lot to our coaches and I want to leave some tradition behind before I finish high school." Kuroo smirked at the two first years who eased down.
"Besides It's good practice for me and I enjoy helping out cute alphas and omegas like you both." Hinata hid behind Tsukishima in a flash and the blonde alpha bared his teeth at the Nekoma captain. The threat was nice and clear. Fuck off.
Though when they started up their practice and Tsukishima had his mate gushing over the ace of Fukurodani who happened to be an alpha it ticked him off a little.
He felt justified in helping to practically umbrella a shot his little mate was aiming for. Though Hinata finding a way out of that really should have been expected. He eyed his exuberant mate and glanced at Hinata's slender collard neck wanting nothing more than in that moment to bite down into his skin and claim him. The training camp was really bringing out a new side to the blonde alpha. Especially since he was seeing his fire haired omega in such a new light.
Kei completely missed Bokuto explaining to his mate a new arsenal of attack. Tsukishima did not however miss the lingering looks both Bokuto and Akaashi aimed at the flame haired omega.
The next day during a practice match against Fukurodani Hinata's three mates finally saw the omega use his brain and make a feint when it seemed as if he intended to spike down as usual. Tsukishima was impressed he had faked the other team out so well. Kageyama worried Shoyo would get a fever from using his last braincell but Hinata snipped back at him in a way that made Tsukishima proud.
"You can tell they have to be getting along, Hinata is starting to sound like his giant grumpy mate." Nishinoya was whispering this loudly trying to ensure the blonde alpha heard him. Though all it did was send a jolt of pleasure through Tsukishima for that comforting thought.
Later in the practice match in a moment as if the two shared the same though Hinata and Kageyama synced up. Kageyama sent a ball that stopped and Hinata slammed it down.
The duo froze for a moment fire burning through each other practically seeking one another. Then simultaneously as if realizing they what they did they burst out in excitement over their newest accomplishment.
Kageyama was not prepared for his mate to gush over him though and felt a blush rise to his cheeks as he weakly protested the attention. Yachi began cheering for them making both boys give her a thumbs up.
Yamaguchi was gushing on his own wanting to just squeeze them and congratulate them. They still lost against Fukurodani in their practice match but it was a narrow loss.

When Hinata joined his mates during the barbeque eyes followed his every move. Now that the worry about matches was over there seemed to be other things on the players minds that moment. Tsukishima scoffed and tucked his mate close and Kageyama had his arm around their beta.
The young alpha's were beginning to fall into their instincts, especially when surrounded around other hormonal alphas.
After all the training though it was right back to business, and Karasuno had put all their hard work and effort into their next games.
Karasuno won their matches against both Ohgiminami High and Kakugawa High despite having face a tower of a teenager.
It was after these games though where Hinata might have faced an issue stemming from his omega status.
There he stood all five foot three inches of him shakily standing protectively in front of Kiyoko trying to thwart off a persistent alpha who did not listen to the word no.
Hinata eyed the cropped blonde teen before him. He had an undercut, chocolate brown eyes and a tongue piercing that Hinata was being taught could be used for various things. The omega was blushing when attention from Shimizu strayed from her to him.
Hinata wasn't sure how to get out of this particular moment as the guy named Terishima from Johzenji high was trying to make his intentions of getting into the omegas pants very blatant.
Hinata had never encountered an alpha that just wanted to get his dick wet…truly he was at a loss on how to proceed with this situation. The guy was shameless.
When Terushima's gaze focused on the words on Hinata's. "Oh, so you are our next opponent." The tongue pierced teen practically purred the omegas way wrapping an arm around Hinata's lithe waist.
"Uhh please don't touch me." Hinata was blushing and pushed at the taller teenager. Who ignored the hands easily pressing his face close to the trapped red head.
"You should probably keep your hands off him, or I might put my hands on you." Hinata turned back realizing Kiyoko was gone probably having gone for help, but Iwaizumi from Seijoh stood near them glaring darkly at Terushima.
Hinata whimpered as he was practically crushed into the strangers hold only for Iwaizumi to peel him out of the tongue pierced guy's arms.
Terushima snickered and winked at Hinata seemingly losing interest in the confrontation.
"I'll see you later cutie, give me your number next time." With that Terushima left Iwaizumi and Hinata alone. Hinata flustered but immediately thanked the alpha who only blushed and began his own trek to leave.
"Be careful next time." Was all the ace of seijoh said before Hinata was left alone for a few brief moments. He blinked a bit shocked by the ordeal and hoped Kiyoko was alright.
Though Yamaguchi, Tsukishima and Kageyama crashing into the space only moments later was amusing and explained it all. Kiyoko was only moments after them with Tanaka and Nishinoya looking around practically feral. Everyone calmed down when Hinata explained what happened.
Yamaguchi was practically glued to the omegas side from that point on though. Tsukishima was hiding behind his bluster to confess he cared about the little omega and Kageyama didn't know how to communicate his feelings correctly. So he just kept a territorial grip on the omega grumbling under his breath every few moments.
The interaction never really left the omegas mind even as the days blurred by until the spring interhigh qualifiers came up. Hinata was bound and ready to face the challenges so much so that he started a sprint towards the doors. Kageyama and his angered yell chased after the red head who practically crashed into the strange tongue piercing guy.
"So we meet again my little cutie?" Terushima immediately wrapped his arms around Hinata's waist while the omega had a mild panic attack in his arms. "That must also mean your manager with the glasses is here too." The teen pulled Hinata tightly to his body and waved over in the disinterested Kiyoko's direction.
The dark and furious aura of Hinata's mates were on par with an angered Tanaka and Nishinoya who practically charged after the teen.
The Johzenji manager came forward apologizing and stopping the beta and libero omega from attacking the opposing teams captain who was cuddling a struggling Hinata. What made Shoyos mates snap though was when the two tone haired teen licked a stripe along Hinata's collared covered neck. Kageyama pulled his mate away from the alpha snarling in his face but a whimper from his omega brought him immediately back into control.
"Do. Not. Touch. Not. Yours." Kageyama's voice was gruff still stuck with a low baritone growl and Tsukishima was being held back by Asahi and Daichi. Suga had a struggling Yamaguchi thrown over his shoulder so the beta didn't do something stupid.
Terushima snickered and directed his team away licking his upper canines at the unmarred omega. Hinata blushed bright red and burrowed his face into his raven haired mates arms. That kind of invitation from a strange alpha was considered rude the equivalent of him asking to be his breeder.
The first year setter bared his teeth in a threat toward the captain who slipped away in the crowd. Once all of Shoyo's mates had calmed down there was an icy angered energy around them.
They were going to destroy this team, the captain had the audacity to proposition their mate in front of them like that.
"Oi, king. Let's ruin them." Tskishima was smiling but it was more of a snarl and Kageyama was no better. Still growling low and angry.
"Yes, let's." The growl was gone from his voice but it was still deep. Yamaguchi was hugging his omega practically rubbing away the scent of the offending male on his little mate.
Hinata was just an embarrassed mess but was being cooed at by Suga, Noya and their managers at this point.
It took some slight begging and several minutes for Hinata to get his mates calmed down. The red head was contemplating something though eyeing the flustered appearances in each teen.
Suga placed his hand on Hinata's shoulder and spoke low and quiet for only the omega to hear. "You've finally noticed it huh?" Hinata stiffened and turned to look at his senpai confused by his own thoughts.
"What do you mean?" Hinata was curious because he wasn't sure of what he was thinking was the issue.
Suga smirked very pleased with himself oddly enough.
"I'm an older omega guide Shoyo, I can see that look in your eyes. You've figured it out haven't you. You've met your mates, your body is going to be drawn to them. The closer to get to hitting the second puberty or as we know, your first heat the more unstable your mates will become. The more possessive and territorial toward others of their status. Except one another, until the day you are claimed or as you have seen, bitten or make community bonds. It is why omega combine packs with one another, the animal part of our brains thing if we group up our mates will be strong to protect all of us. It also is part of nesting for us on a more animalistic level. Omegas want as many strong alphas invested in them because our bodies crave a diversity in genes as well. It's all just instinct, your body will seek it out naturally. You will make bonds when you are ready, honestly it should start some time this year." Suga was smiling gently at a flustered Hinata.
"So, this is my fault?" the fiery haired boy looked near to tears and Suga soothed him.
"It is no one's fault. You would have been naturally drawn to them despite your current wariness. Our bodies seek out our perfect match and you would have bound them all to you on your first heat either way. You can not fight your instincts despite a lot of peoples claim to deny it." Hinata frowned at Suga but the team began a steady walk into the gym.
"Though the closer you are to hitting your first heat the more draw you will have to alpha's. Betas are a bit more controlled so you probably should not take what that strange alpha did to heart." Suga ruffled Hinata's head and let the team take their bags so they could finish their chat.
"You have to remember we are omega and sometimes our bodies make us call out to people we don't always necessarily think are good in that moment." Hinata was thoughtful and nodded cocking his head a bit cutely making Suga blush and cuddle him.
"You are a reliable senpai Suga san." Hinata was mumbling this into Suga's chest as his face and body was still being squeezed in a cuddle.
Suga looked arrogantly at the small red head. "Of course I am, it's because I'm Sugawara." The silver haired teen smiled and pushed his underclassmen into the gym.
"Now let's go wipe a smile off an arrogant alphas face." He quickly shooed Hinata into the gym for warm ups. They had a match to win.

Karasuno won their match against Johzenji but the captain of the losing team just seemed more fired up about pursing the small middle blocker. Tsukishima glowered at the teen when Terushima marched up to Hinata after the match begging for his number.
That was solved easily enough though by the tall blonde picking up his mate against all protest and walking away from the annoying alpha who didn't take a hint.
Though it left their beta a target to the flirty alpha, but Kageyama proceeded to follow his dominate alpha mate and carried their beta away much like Tsukishima had done to Hinata.
Karasuno got through their next match against Wakutani Minami High. Hinata seemed pretty fired up about playing someone so similar in playing style to the man he so idolized, someone like the little Ginat. Even despite the fact that Daichi got hurt and had to go to the hospital in the middle of it all.
That just seemed to make the Karasuno team even more ready to take down this team though. Yamaguchi even had his own moment of pride after getting a point by serving and clipping the net for the ball to land on the opponent's court. Though he did get scared and sent a safe ball over, they won the point and first set but it had pissed off coach Ukai. Tsukishima just gave Yamaguchi a towel and Hinata hesitated at the betas side until Tsukishima pulled him away.
He needed a moment to collect himself and cry over having been a coward. Either way Karasuno won and the young crows grew up a little. Especially after having the dependable Ennoshita on their side guiding them through it.
It meant their next opponents would be Aoba Johsai.
Hinata was the focused on the match more for their pride rather on revenge. Everything would go into this game for him because his mate seemed so serious about it.
The honey eyed omegas gaze flicked to a ball rolling his way as a pale brown haired member of seijoh jogged his direction asking for him to return the ball. Another ball from his team ricocheted aiming fast in his direction. Kiyoko was suddenly there to stop the ball from slamming into the omegas face and Yachi was buzzing at Hinata's side trying to make sure he was alright. Hinata quirked a brow about to go collect the aforementioned ball but Tanaka beat him to it returning the ball to the teen.
Maybe everyone was just a bit too nervous about the match.
Iwaizumi watched the small red haired omega silently and when Hinata felt eyes on him he turned to stared at the ace of the opposing team. Shoyo blushed and shuffled away to get ready for the match.
Hinata was nervous but soon found his rhythm despite them bringing a wild player Oikawa called mad dog into the game. Karasuno took the first set despite the wild playstyle.
Yamaguchi was brought in for the second set as a pinch server replacing Hinata. The omega knew exactly what to say to his mate before the switch was complete.
"Yamaguchi, go get us ten points." Tadashi looked at him mate confused.
"That would end the game though." Hinata handed over the ball a small smile on his face.
"I'll forgive you." Tadashi laughed at his mate and took the offered ball even more determined to live up to the expectation.
He delivered with back to back points but they still lost the second set. As the third set was played Hinata just fell deeper into focus. Kageyama was oddly annoyed by how Hinata's full attention could be so laser focused toward the end of a match.
Karasuno pushed through and at their set point Hinata took flight. Aiming and hitting the side of an opposing spikers hand the ball fell off course a bit and despite Oikawa being there to try and dig it up the ball shot off and hit the ground.
The stadium sat in stunned silence for a moment.
The roars of disbelief and cheers of excitement echoed in the gym. Karasuno won against aoba johsai. Kageyama faced his former mentor one more time, looking Oikawa in the eye as the winner.
"Now we're at one loss and one win, don't get cocky." Oikawa spoke glaring down the younger teen.
"I can't get cocky." Kageyama stood against that gaze firm in his tone before both setters turned away to line up and bow out.

Hinata hesitated seeing the other team heartbroken but this was the game they played. A game where there are winners and losers, and you couldn't always be a winner nor could you always be the loser.
Despite that and knowing he would have to face Ushijima soon Hinata faced the red eyed ace of Seijoh. Iwaizumi eyed the omega who bow slightly to him before turning and running off after his own team.
They watched him and the libero tackle their murder of crows all of them happy to be in the winners spot this time. Iwaizumi still watched the fiery haired omega and Oikawa joined him once more.
"Give him your number." Oikawa snickered at his mate pushing him off in the small middle blockers direction but Iwaizumi hesitated.
"Here I'll help you." Oikawa smirked and waved happily in Karasunos direction. "Chibi chan, my ace wants to have a word with you." Hinata turned surprised at the beta and blushing alpha but moved over for the talk. His own mates stayed back but glared darkly at the two who interrupted their celebration.
Oikawa tugged the phone out of Iwaizumi's jacket pocket and handed it over to Hinata.
"Iwa-chan and I are hoping to get to know you and maybe play some volleyball together again one day." Oikawa could practically see the omega glow from happiness as he agreed and input his phone number.
Iwaizumi was stunned jaw dropped at the bright smile given to him. Hinata had already handed back the phone and was running off back to his team into the threshold of his mates. Karasuno had to prepare for their next match.
It didn't take long to return to the school and for Tsukishima and Yamaguchi to immediately veer off and return to the dorm. Hinata and Kageyama hung back a bit to get some energy out of their system with Yaichi helping them out by tossing them balls to practice.
Yachi watched them work like a well-oiled machine, all the trust and effort they put into this really showed true. She could remember a time of uncertainty where Hinata and Kageyama were on griding gears fitted in the wrong places. The time where they fought and Hinata and Kageyama had spent weeks reforming themselves to fit and work together. It was astounding to see where they were now.
Kiyoko came in interrupting their practice and soon Hinata and Kageyama were shooed home after cleaning up.
Kageyama eyed his mate as they walked back to the dorms together. Hinata paused before heading into the building and Kageyama leaned against the door knowing he wished to talk.
"I wonder how the little giant felt on his match at the finals. I'm super nervous but it just makes it more exciting." Hinata's eyes practically glowed and Kageyama's heart skipped.
"We're going to win tomorrow." Kageyama smirked as he spoke lifting his hand to fist bump his mate. Like a non verbal promise to give it their all.
They returned to their dorm washed up and were dragged into the large bed by a grumpy Tsukishima and a sleepy Yamaguchi. It would seem that Tsukishima's instincts were worn down and he was not fighting it anymore. They were going to sleep in the big bed like a damn puppy pile. No arguments about it.
The next morning Karasuno arrived at the stadium for the finals. Hinata and Kageyama walked ahead of their team coming face to face with Ushijima eyeing the duo.
"Hinata Shoyo, Kageyama Tobio." It was Ushiwaka's way of congratulating them for making it this far.
"We made it to the finals." Kageyama spoke staring the alpha down.
"We, who grew from the concrete, will beat you and go to Nationals." It was Hinata who spoke this time and his gaze was intense and focused on the tall and large ace.
Hazel eyes impassively looked to the omega. "I look forward to your attempt. Let's meet on the court." Ushijima spoke before turning and heading back into the stadium.
Karasuno paused a moment taking in the fact that they were about to play against one of the best of the best schools.
It was time to face Shiratoriza.
