Naty spent the rest of the morning lying to her friends. California turned to Oregon while Chan turned to a mystery figure that worked for the government—some government. She was able to—at length—explain the events of the evening. The group was torn between leaving and using all the amenities the hotel had to offer. Naty explained that, for now, she wanted to stay.
By the time 9 a.m. had rolled around she had already received breakfast and her drycleaned clothes. It was Ashley at the door with a much friendlier attitude. Naty opened the door with the same smile she used earlier, "Good morning!"
"Good morning," Ashley returned the enthusiasm, "I see there's no hard feelings from last night."
"Nah, you're just doing your job," Naty shrugged, stepping aside so the woman could enter.
"Oh, there's no time to chat. I'm bringing you to your massage," Ashley's eyes glanced inside as if searching for Chan or any remnants of him.
Naty grabbed hers shoes then exited the room, "He's not in there."
"I know," the woman smirked before turning down the hall toward the elevator, "Listen, everything we said last night still applies but I want to apologize for how rude we were. I mean, Tara doesn't care but I feel a little bad."
"Thank you. I appreciate the apology. Last night was pretty heavy," Naty sighed.
The two entered the elevator and once the door closed, Ashley continued to speak, "I know Chris went to see you this morning. Don't bother denying it. I caught him sneaking back into his room and I could smell his cologne at the door."
Naty didn't say a word.
"I need you to understand something," Ashley looked to Naty with seriousness, "We aren't parents discipling their child. We are employees doing a job that we will not compromise. This is a big moment for Stray Kids. These individuals have been working toward this their whole life. We won't let any of them throw that away."
"I hear you. I'm not here to mess that up. I'm staying out of this. There's no fighting from me," Naty hoped the woman believed her.
Ashley sighed as they reached the spa level, "I'm inclined to believe you. Not by your words but your actions. I spent all yesterday combing through your account and the only mention of Chris was a mystery guy you went on a date with in Greece. You promote Stray Kids a normal amount without mentioning any hidden meaning. Your content is consistent—even if you do talk about BTS a little too much. You've not made a single story or comment since being here. Maintain that energy."
"I will," Naty made sure to meet the woman's eye as she made her declaration.
"Good. I'll be back to get you. Enjoy your spa day."
With that the woman was gone.
The spa day was lovely and helped to lessen some of the knots the night before had created. Even the walk with Ashley was pleasant. Yet, every moment was just filler until she could see her dear friend.
Naty had begun dreaming again. This time not of a romantic relationship—he had made that clear in the morning—but of a time when they could actually hangout. The dinner a year ago felt like such a distant memory but one that brought her hope. They had done it before and could certainty do it again.
Five o'clock came and with it the time to meet Fred out in the hotel lobby. Naty made sure to wear something that was cute and comfortable but wouldn't make her look like a seductress. She had been half tempted to wear "the dress" but knew it would not be needed for this trip.
"You," Fred appeared before the woman with the same stoicism as before.
Naty didn't bother replying and simply followed the man into the black car out front. The ride was short and quiet—15 minutes all together. When they arrived, Fred handed over a lanyard with a VIP pass on it, her three-day ticket, and a lightstick she couldn't help gushing over. Fred did not reply to any of her statements of gratitude. Instead, he pointed to the private entrance and waited for her to leave the car.
The sun was still shining bright as Naty walked to the side door of the massive stadium. She wondered if wearing black was such a good idea. To her left a sea of Stays in black walked to general admission. Naty smiled with the feeling of unity she had not felt in a while. Even if she couldn't hang out with Chan, the experience already proved to be one she would recall for the rest of her life.
Beep. Beep.
"Take the elevator on your left to the sixth floor, box three. Enjoy the show," the security person spoke.
"Will do. Thank you!" she bounced on her toes with each step to the elevator. Naty wished she could share this with her followers but didn't dream of even taking a video for fear of what Tara might do to her.
The elevator doors opened to a large hallway that seemed to move in a "U" shape. Doors lined the hallway and on each one was a large number. She found number 3 and entered quietly.
Naty had only ever had box seating once but this was completely different. The box was massive and very dim. It took a moment for her vision but when it did, she was impressed. A large table at the center held a buffet of food while the furthest wall was converted to a bar with two bartenders. Small clumps of individuals stood at different sections of the room and Naty made sure to avoid them on her way to the bar.
"Good afternoon, ma'am, what can I get for you?" the bartender smiled.
"Just a can of Coke, please. I'll just take the can and a straw," already her nerve were thrumming as she heard the crowd outside getting louder and louder. Her mind barely worked enough to remember to leave and tip and she reached into her small bag to drop a ten-dollar into the tip vase.
The bartender handed over the Coke with a Stray Kids coozie. Naty tried her best not to gush at how adorable that itself was. So far she was pleased just to have the lightstick and lanyard but a drink coozie too? SKZ really knew how to turn it out for the fans.
The thought reminded Naty that she was present to see the show. She turned around and looked across the room in search of where she would be able to find some seating. That was when a gasp nearly left her. Various K-Pop Idols and pop stars were littered around the room. Twice members, Ateez members, Red Velvet members, and more! Naty's ARMY heart searched for anyone from BTS but came up empty handed.
Naty took that as a good sign. As long as she didn't see anyone from BTS she could keep her cool. Naty reminded herself to definitely keep her cool.
"Are you Naty Higuera?"
The question was asked in Korean and Naty looked to find a young girl of about twelve or thirteen. Naty nodded and replied in the same language, "Yes, pleasure to meet you. What is your name?"
"My name is Hina. It's nice to meet you. I'm a big fan!" the young girl was beaming.
Naty felt a twist of anxiety that was immediately over powered by the girl's statement. In a room filled with international stars…this young girl was her fan. If the drink wasn't so cold, she would think she was dreaming. Naty opened her arms for a hug, "Wow, I'm so honored to have someone so fashionable and beautiful as a fan!"
Hina immediately threw herself into Naty's arms as she beamed, "Really? You're my style inspiration but what are you doing here? You should be on vacation!"
"Well," Naty blushed and looked around, "I am on vacation. A friend of mine got me tickets to see the show."
"Ohhh….is it the guy from Greece?" she asked with an expression that indicated excitement.
"Hina, who is this?"
Naty looked up with a scream in her throat as she saw someone that she had been a fan of for over three years. Immediately songs and videos and interviews flashed through her mind but the person was far lovelier in person than any image on a screen. Naty smiled at the lovely Sana of Twice.
"She is an influencer on Instagram that I'm a big fan of," Hina explained excitedly.
There was a flash of an expression that Naty could not read but Sana recovered immediately, "It is a pleasure to meet you! I'm Sana. Please, forgive my little cousin for intruding on your time."
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Naty Higuera. There is no need to apologize. I was just telling Hina how honored I am that she follows me. She is so fashionable. I'm going to need to take some tips from her," she smiled finding herself more nervous about the expression Sana hid than Sana herself.
"Are you here with anyone?" Sana looked around.
"No, a friend of mine got me tickets to see the show but is too busy to enjoy it with me," Naty frowned, hoping the fact that it wasn't technically a lie would make it more convincing.
The expression flashed again but Sana turned it into a smile again, "Well, don't let us hold you back from the show. Seats are through that door and I'm sure Hina will join you at some point."
"Really!" Hina grinned excitedly.
"Yes, but after we talk to a few people I would like to introduce you too and if Naty doesn't mind," Sana's smile was soft and made Naty feel soft too.
"I would love that," she nodded and said her goodbyes as the two departed further into the dim room.
Naty focused her eyes on the door that Sana motioned too and saw that the whole wall was not what she had originally thought. All the glass of the windows were tinted so that it nearly blended in with the blackness of the wall. As Naty got closer, she realized she could see the outside well except with a dark shadow dulling the light. She supposed it was to prevent anyone from seeing the A-List celebrities that mingled while the show began.
Naty reached for the handle of the door but an attendant appeared and opened it for her, "There is no assigned seating but we do ask that you do not hangover the edge. A waiter will be out to check in on you and refresh your drink. Enjoy the show, ma'am."
"Thank you," Naty could not hide her excitement as she exited the box and into the main stadium.
The first thing she noticed was how much louder it was. From where she stood, she could see the whole stadium in the brightness of the day and was amazed how many people were filling up the seats. She realized this was what Tara and Ashley were so afraid of losing. This was indeed a huge moment for Stray Kids. Naty doubted a scandal would destroy their entire career but she knew in her heart it would dampen the gravity of the situation. They were selling out massive stadiums all over the world. It was incredible.
Naty realized she had been standing for a full two minutes and needed to take her seat. She looked down and saw that the seating was arranged much like it was out for the other enjoyers of the show. There were ten rows of seats with eight—very comfortable looking—chairs each. Large steps got her down to the first row closest to the stage. The box itself hung high above the general seating but it was close enough that she could make out the staff adjusting things on the stage. She could see their features and their clothing and she was happy that she would be close enough to see the members without relying on the jumbo screens.
The box was also surrounded by thick walls that came up to her chest. This made it difficult for anyone to peak over or into the box or into other boxes next to it. Naty was amazed by the structure of the walls and that if she sat down in a seat she could still see the performance. She took a deep breath and sat in the seat furthest down the levels and all the way in the corner. Naty hoped that Chan would be able to see her there but even if he didn't! She would tell him every detail of the show and how happy she was to see him perform.
All Naty had to do was wait for 6 o'clock enjoy the magic of Stray Kids.
