Note: I have looked all over the internet to find fanfiction based on the movie 'It Takes Two' starring Mary-Kate and Ashley, and I found nothing so I thought I'd write something of my own. I have written fanfiction on another site, but this is my first one on here so here goes. I hope some people read this :)
Upon arriving at the Callaway mansion, Alyssa ran out of the horse carriage to the front of her house that she would now share with not only her dad but also a soon-to-be stepmother and new sister. Amanda ran after her and soon caught up. They both stood by the entrance to the mansion to wait for Roger and Diane.
Roger and Diane got out of the carriage slowly, eyes only on each other, before both girls yelled 'C'mon last one in the house is a rotten egg!'
The couple laughed and made their way to the house but not before stopping in front and sharing a kiss before they went in.
The girls raced through the doors, and Alyssa laughed as Amanda stood in the center of the front room looking around in circles with her mouth wide open, taking it all in.
"You look like a frog about to gulp down some flies" Alyssa teased.
"Hey some of us haven't grown up in mansions or even had families." Amanda countered.
"Alright, alright, how about if Alyssa you show Amanda her new room; it'll be the one right next to yours, Alyssa, and I will give Diane a tour of the house." Roger suggested
"Are you sure we shouldn't keep an eye on the girls, Roger?" Diane wondered.
"Don't worry we'll check on them in a little while...in the meantime I'm sure Vincenzo can keep an eye on them for a while, can't you Vincenzo?" Roger asked his butler as he saw him pass by.
"Certainly, sir. It will be my pleasure."
Roger watched as Vincenzo walked up the stairs to follow the girls, and once he saw Vincenzo open Alyssa's bedroom door and walk in, he tugged on Diane and led her into a small downstairs room so they could be alone.
"Roger what are you doing?"
"About to kiss my girlfriend...what do you think?" Roger smirked as he leaned closer to Diane.
"Wait, are we really dating? I mean you almost got married to that Barbie Clarisse...are you sure...?" Diane's voice trailed off as Roger's lips brushed against hers.
After about a minute of making out, Roger pulled back from Diane but held her firmly, and Diane smiled at him and said "You know I never thought I'd actually end up dating The Roger Callaway...who knew being so bad at horse riding could lead to us dating"
"Well, I can give you horse riding lessons if you would like, but don't act so surprised...I mean you and the kids were staying at my camp. I think it was meant to be."
"Even if I'm nothing like Clarisse?"
"To be honest, I'm not sure why I was even dating her, but then things kept going so fast with the engagement, and then I just thought I was supposed to get married to her, but the truth is she never made me feel so alive and carefree and young again like you have, Diane. I am so glad you came to that church with Alyssa cause I was afraid I would never see you again."
"I was afraid I would never see you again, either. I mean it has been a long time since I've dated anyone, and I was beginning to give up hope I would ever meet someone, and then I met you, and I finally thought things were going right - I was trying to adopt Amanda, and then I met you and we had a connection, but then of course you had to be engaged, and I started to lose hope...I'm rambling aren't I? I'm sorry...all I'm trying to say is, I guess we can be glad those girls are so sneaky cause if they never switched places we may never have met, and you would be married to Clarisse right now."
Roger shuddered at the thought him actually being married to Clarisse and laughed.
"Ok, but let's get one thing straight-I only care about you, Diane, and how about we vow to leave the past in the past, ok? I only want a future with you, and I hope you do, too, cause I can imagine us living in this mansion together with the girls, and it sounds pretty great. Of course, there is no pressure to move in here now, but I will be looking into adopting Amanda, and sometime in the future maybe we could get married...I mean if you want to that is; I don't mean to pressure you...oh man look who's rambling now" Roger chuckled
"I would love to get married to you Roger, but in the meantime, I think we should just keep dating and getting to know each other. The girls will need to adjust to the idea of us being together - I mean, Alyssa will have a new mother figure which could be difficult, and Amanda will have parents for the first time in a long while so let's just take it one step at a time, ok?"
"Whatever you want, Diane. I just know this is the happiest I've been in years, ever since my wife passed, and I never want to go back to feeling so lost. Even with Clarisse, I didn't have a sense of peace and constant happiness like I do with you- you know that 'Can't eat, can't sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, World Series' kind of love. I'm not even sure I really even loved her; I just convinced myself I did."
"I love you too, Roger, and I really do want a life with you and the girls..." Diane's train of thought started to fade out as she heard the girls running to the staircase.
"Hey, are you two done being boring adults yet? I want some ice cream...please?" Amanda begged as she looked down over the large staircase.
"Yeah, me too!" Alyssa chimed in
"Well, what do you think, Roger, do you think they've been good enough for an ice cream run?"
"Hm...Well, I suppose so. How about we play a little game though? Last one out of the house is a rotten egg and has to pay for the ice cream!" Roger teased
Alyssa and Amanda ran out of the mansion like a rocket, and the girls laughed as they saw Diane walking out of the doors closely behind Roger.
"I guess Diane's the rotten egg and has to pay for all of our ice cream!" Amanda announced
"Sure, why not? Nothing can spoil this day" Diane laughed
"You know Diane, I can easily pay for the ice cream...I was just teasing the girls" Roger quickly explained, afraid he might have upset her.
"No, it's no problem...fair's fair after all, and I'll make sure to remind you that you will be paying next time" Diane said as she smirked at Roger.
"As long as I'm with my favorite girls I am totally fine with that...now how about a group hug before we go?"
Roger put his arm around Diane and the two shuffled to the girls, pulling them in a big hug.
"I love our family" Alyssa said
"Me too" Amanda echoed while Roger and Diane agreed and gave each other a kiss.
