A couple of hours after school had let out, Liam was over at Raffi's place.

"Why did you come over so suddenly, Liam?" asked Raffi who was balancing a ball on his head while the two of them hung out in the living room.

"I wanted to talk with you about this girl you mentioned earlier," said Liam.

"Why… why do you want to talk about her?" asked Raffi, the ball falling off his head and a slight blush appearing on his cheeks.

"Because of the way you keep acting," said Liam.

"It's as if you're scared to talk about her with other people, which is so unlike you so something about this girl is different to you," he said. The two of them then fell silent for a few seconds before Raffi let out a sigh.

"Alright, what I'm about to tell you, you can't tell anyone else," said Raffi.

"Of course, man, I'd never betray your trust like that," said Liam, which was a full lie because his phone was on with Sandra letting her hear everything that was happening as she sat at a diner a block away.

"It's Birch, she's the one I want to go to the dance with," said Raffi.

"Why haven't you asked her to go with you then?" asked Liam.

"Because I don't even know if she would like to go with me, and what if she doesn't and that comes back to hurt our friendship?" asked Raffi.

"I don't want things to get that awkward between the two of us just because I asked her out to the prom," he said.

"Hang on, do you have feelings for her?" asked Liam.

"Maybe," said Raffi, his blush growing deeper as he gave a shrug of his shoulders and a worried expression.

"Interesting," said Sandra as she hung up her phone after hearing all that she needed to.

"This is going to be a lot of fun," she said with that same mischievous grin while rubbing her hands together.
