A/N: I still don't own anything you recognize.
"Lily! Help!" Luna screamed, trying to pull the zipper up on her dress. Alice had taught all the girls the zipper charm, but Luna had found she was completely unable to master it. Lily quickly crossed the room and zipped Luna into her dress.
"There, you're done. Now, you do me."
"But you could do it yourself?" Luna asked.
"More fun this way," Lily stated. "Besides, if I miss I'll end up undoing all my hard work on my hair," she added. Luna laughed as she zipped Lily into her dress. Dorcas and Alice were also getting ready for the dance.
"Does anyone know the cushioning charm? I forgot to break these shoes in and if I don't do something, I'll end up with blisters," Dorcas asked. Luna's fingers slid around her wand, casting the charm almost effortlessly. Marlene, who was also in the dorm, glared at the four of them.
"Bet no one asked her," Dorcas muttered, trying to decide between two golden necklaces.
"I think she's going with Peter," Lily replied, giving herself one last look in the mirror. "Are the boys meeting us downstairs or at the Great Hall?"
"Great Hall," Alice replied. "Are you sure this is going to be alright?"
"We're here for you, Alice. Remember, don't worry. It's going to be fine," Luna promised, ignoring the fact Marlene was glaring at her again. It didn't matter. She had Sirius, she had her friends, and tonight, they were going to have a great time.
"Everyone ready?"
"Yes," the girls chorused, each finishing their last little touches. Luna quickly blew a kiss at the mirror, smiling at how amazing she looked. She had a feeling she'd never really cared about make up before, but Lily and Dorcas had helped her use it very subtly and it worked.
"Let's go see the boys," Lily stated, leading the procession from the dorm. The common room was empty since the boys were supposed to meet them at Great Hall. Lily gave it a quick glance.
"Something wrong?" Luna asked.
"No, just weird to see it empty," Lily answered as they slipped out the portrait hole and started down the hallway. Luna nodded, feeling like someone was watching her again. She glanced over her shoulder, but only saw Dorcas and Alice having a discussion about whether or not cucumber sandwiches were good with tea. Luna personally hated them, but didn't feel the need to inject her opinion on the subject. The quartet reached the Great Hall. There were people milling around everywhere.
"Do you see the boys?" Alice asked. Dorcas had already found her date and headed inside.
"Over there," Lily answered, pointing. James, Sirius, and Remus were standing against the wall, looking at a sheet of parchment. Frank was next to them talking to Severus. Luna smiled. Severus was making friends, that was good. She saw Mindee walk over in a teal dress and take Severus' hand. They disappeared into the throng of people entering the Great Hall.
"Lily!" James exclaimed, finally noticing the girls. Lily and Luna headed over. Sirius kissed Luna, sliding a corsage of wild flowers on her wrist. James did the same with Lily, only hers was made with lilies.
"Really?" Lily asked, pretending she didn't love it. Luna just laughed rolling her brown eyes.
"Shall we head inside?" Sirius asked, offering Luna his arm. She took it, and they followed Lily and James into the Great Hall. Remus trailed them. Luna didn't see Peter off hand and she realized she was actually happy about that. Marlene had also managed to disappear.
"This is going to be fun," she whispered, watching the couples around her.
The Great Hall had been completely transformed. There were pink and red streamers draped from the pillars. The ceiling had been enchanted to look like a starry night, with occasional shooting stars streaking the navy sky with white yellow streaks. There was a whole table of food and a punch bowl. Sirius and James glanced at it, with an obvious look in their eyes.
"Really? Isn't spiking the punch bowl a bit cliché, even for you two?" Luna asked.
"Wasn't thinking anything of the sort," Sirius laughed.
"I'm sure you weren't," Luna teased. "Want to dance? I've been practicing," she added, leading Sirius out to the dance floor. She hadn't been lying, she'd really been learning to dance with her chair. Soon it was obvious she could match Sirius move for move and within minutes, everyone was watching them. They laughed coming up with more complicated moves, until they were both laughing so hard they had to make their way to a table.
"I'll go grab us something to drink," Sirius offered. Luna nodded, giving him a huge smile while she watched Lily and James twirling to a slow song.
