When the feast was over the students were funneled out of the great hall table by table and led to their common rooms. No matter how hard Vesta tried to lose Draco and his cronies they seemed to be right behind her constantly. When they arrived in the common room Draco grabbed her arm, dragging her over to the couch by the fireplace. Vesta rolled her eyes, in truth she just wanted to go to bed, even if classes didn't start until Monday she was already exhausted by the day she'd had.
Draco had a group of nearly 5 boys with him who she automatically assumed was the posse he bragged about having put together. There was a tall boy with curly brown hair who had a rather mischievous grin sat on the back of the sofa, a boy with shorter slicked back hair with sunken eyes leaned against the wall, two boys Vesta could only describe as troll-like stood across from them, and next to Draco sat the living embodiment of tall dark and brooding.
"Draco, I just want to go to bed. You can introduce me to your friends tomorrow."
"Oh come on Ves, This is going to be your family away from family, besides it'll be around 20, minutes before everything is in its correct room anyway."
Vesta sighed sitting on the sofa. Draco introduced each of the boys to her. The boy sitting on the back of the sofa was Mattheo. The boy with the slicked back hair was Theo, the troll-boys were Crabbe and Goyle, and the boy sitting next to Draco was Blaise. The boys already seemed to be well enough acquainted, Vesta mostly just listened to them talk instead of contributing to the conversation. Not long after they settled into their seats Mattheo, Theo and Blaise started playing a card game.
"I think I've reached a point in my life where I need stronger cuss words." Mattheo stated as he drew two more cards from the pile, his hand had been growing steadily for several minutes. The entire group proceeded to watch the three of them intensely.
"You don't have to do it y'know Blaise, we can end this now."
"I'm sorry Nott, it's the only way." Blaise grinned before placing down a draw 4. Causing Theo to throw his hands up in defeat. "Uno."
"You're dead to me. Blaise. You. Are. Dead. To. Me."
"Oh I love you too my dear friend." Vesta was laughing so hard she didn't even notice the two girls who approached from behind Crabbe and Goyle.
"Ok Draco, times up it's our turn with the Neewbiie." A tall girl with long blonde hair grinned, a shorter girl with short black hair and a slight resting bitch face stood closely behind her.
"What makes you girls think I want to share my dear cousin over here girls." Draco grinned, it was clear he was trying to make himself look good for the girls, it made Vesta want to gag.
"You're going to have to at least pretend to be selfless Malfoy, She's officially been assigned to the spare bed in our room. She's not just yours for taking anymore Draco." The smaller girl smirked. "Don't you want her to blossom and have friends here, Draco?" She gave a fake pout. "Why don't you look out for your dear cousin, and her sanity, and let her be with her own kind for a little while, although if you want her to suffocate on the testosterone." Draco proceeded to roll his eyes before turning to Vesta.
"Vesta this is Daphne Greengrass," He motioned towards the tall blonde, "and Pansy Parkinson," He pointed to the small girl with the black hair. "They can show you to your room." Vesta smiled standing up from the couch and walking over to the girls.
"I suppose I'll be going with you two then." Vesta turned back around to face the boys, "It was nice to meet all of you-" She tried to wave bye but it was too late, Pansy had already taken hold of her arm and was already dragging her away.
Vesta was relieved when she got to the room and her trunk was sitting at the end of her bed, Azure, perched in her cage atop of the trunk. Vesta smiled, moving to sit on the bed.
"So… Spill… everything, now." The tall girl with blonde hair sat down directly next to her.
"I'm not quite sure I know what you mean." Vesta wanted to scoot away but she didn't want to be rude to either of the girls considering they would be roommates.
"Why'd you come here? It's not everyday we have a student transfer in, especially not from Beauxbaton Academy. Was there a scandal? I lOve a good scandal. Or maybe you decided to stay closer to home for another reason… Was it a boy? Oh pleAse tell me there is something interesting behind that cold hard stare." Daphne scooted closer to her leaning her head on Vesta's shoulder dramatically.
"I don't know what to tell you… it's nothing exciting really, travel has been restricted because of the escape of Sirius Black, and I wasn't going to wait a whole year to further my education and be a year behind all of my friends, so Hogwarts was the easiest option."
"Oh, so you'll be returning to Beauxbaton? Next year?" Pansy Frowned slightly but Vesta nodded.
"I've wanted to attend Beauxbaton since I was a child, so yes, If all goes well here and Sirius Black is captured and returned to Azkaban I will return to Beauxbaton as if I never left."
"Shame they haven't caught him already, I'm sure the dementors are waiting for a nice kiss… and Dumbledore is letting Ace Lupin's Father teach Defense Against The Dark Arts as if the world doesn't already know about his ties with Sirius Black, for all we know Lupin is harboring him and Dumbledore has given Black direct access to the school." Vesta was suddenly interested in what the girls had to say, after all Ace Lupin was the Hufflepuff that had been so kind to her on the train.
"The Lupin's have ties to Sirius Black?"
"Of course. They adopted Sirius Black's son, Asher. Although he seems to have taken after the family name more than his father did, He's useful enough to have been sorted into Slytherin, although most think he still takes a little too much after his father, he won't speak to a soul, makes you wonder if he's waiting for his moment to take after dear old dad and join up with the dark lord as-"
"That's not very nice."
"It's common knowledge, the whole family is kooky and then you top it off with them hanging out with those twins from Gryffindor… Weasley's" The Daphne kept talking on and on about all of the gossip Vesta had missed in the first two years. By the time Vesta had convinced the girls that she was tired enough to go to bed it was nearly 1:30 in the morning. Vesta climbed into bed trying to focus on nothing else than going to sleep. There was orientation in the morning, she didn't want to be late to that.
